Tomato taste.....going back to 2005, GW search for Alabamians and what their taste buds say are the best tomatoes. All thru the posts that I have read...."RAIN and OVER WATERING may make a HUGE difference in how your tomato taste. It was reported over and over that because of so much (2005) that Cherokee Purple, Brandywine....etc. was not as good as last year. I read no post on how much watering is too much watering- - - yet. I do recall a local sometime ago saying that her son told her NOT to water her tomatoes at all. He had planted them just off the drip line of the house and that she did not need to water. Was her age a factor....?... If water is a taste factor, fertilizer....ph and who knows what else could be a factor. I do think that Alabama might be one of the top 10 states that love tomatoes, but no where close to being #1. This assumption solely from reading post from the GW, spanning over only a few years thus far. So far the " original " Homestead, Cherokee Purple , Brandywine ;;;; Sungold and Black Cherry are "each" highly prized as being the best.

June, I just love college football. Don't care for the pros, though. Our FSU 'Noles are on ESPN3, which we don't get. Grrr! Looking forward to the 'Bama game--wonder why they're playing in Texas? That is, if I read it right. Right now we're watching FU play Bowling Green. Rather boring as most of these first games are.

Lol, I am really enjoying these responses! I get tired of hearing "we can make it our own" or "put our own stamp on it." That's what we call painting, furnishing and decorating, right? The first time sassy buyers (women, embarrassingly) who say coyly to their husbands, "uh un, mister, I am NOT gonna be cooking in a kitchen with Formica counters" or "how do you expect me to cook in THAT" (points to a stove that isn't stainless) make me cringe. The funny thing is that they obviously don't have those things in their current home or rental, either. And what about the strange couples who look like they'll use the basement to breed snakes, saying "Uh, this would be good for entertaining" when you know damn well they have never had anyone over except---MAYBE---for a meeting of the We Are Weird Club. i do like Flip or Flop though. Or I did, before someone told Christina she had to say I love, you to her daughter and take her shopping. I think HGTV wanted them to be more like that gushingly fake Texas couple, which is a shame. I kind of liked it when Tarek would whip out a listing and one of them would say "how soon can we drop [child] at the sitter and go?" That seemed so much more realistic to me.

Many of my friends who happen to be Republican voted for Jones because they wanted their vote to count. If there had been a better candidate, Jones wouldn't have won, of course, but Moore is simply too repugnant for the thinking person. My husband just told me that Rick Saban (hahahaha) was the recipient of most of the write-in votes. Don't know if it's true, would not surprise me. Makes me laugh but it goes to show that Alabama isn't out of the water, yet!
