IMO, you should email them back and tell them their $2 coupon is unacceptable and to give you a new toy OR a refund. If they say, 'no', send an email telling them you have no choice but send a complaint to the BBB and write a review on their website.

I've been through a similar scenario and I received a full refund of the product. They would much rather satisfy you than have a bad review. In the future, if you must email a company regarding a product, ASK for exactly what you want.

kay - I felt like I did ask for what I wanted, which was to mail the toy back to them and have them mail me a new one. His reply was that there is no 30 day guarantee on the squeezz because it is not a chew toy. To which I replied that my dog did not chew on it. I accepted his offer of a coupon thinking it would be a good deal for a new one, since the toy was not guaranteed. I'm not very hard to get along with.

What I really expected if they had good customer relations was that they would offer to simply send me a replacement without mailing in the other one. It didn't disappointment so much that it wasn't offered as I would have liked, but it did tick me off to get a stupid mail in rebate.

On top of that, one of the reasons we purchased the original kong classic and kong extreme is because they are made in the USA. A little while ago I was browsing online for the cost of a replacement squeezz and found that the squeezz bone is made in china. I still have not found where the squeezz barbell was made. A little suspicion going on here! It really doesn't pay to assume!

Can't you just return/exchange it at the store you purchased it from? That's what I would do.

I went to Petsmart about 60 miles from home and it's doubtful I will get back to that area in the near future. It's ok, though, I'll get over it. :)

Ah ha! So that's the problem. I never actually said it plain and clear. My dog did not destroy his toy. It was not squeaking when I gave it to him according to DH, who was sitting in the same room with him when it was given.

Why don't you call them(Petsmart) and speak to the manager, tell them what happened and get the OK to bring it back whenever you are next in the big city explaining they are 60 miles away. Usually if you just want an even exchange, it doesn't matter how long it's been but having it on record is always best. I know it's not a huge amount of money but they aren't cheap either!

The squeaky deal probably just came right apart from the toy or just fell right out.

I'm confused, I thought you said it did squeak when you bought it... so some time when it was in your possession it stopped?

I'm guessing that since these toys are only a few dollars, the cost to ship them would probably be more than the toy itself so a coupon/rebate is sent instead. How much did you spend? Is the below one it? I'm guessing it is really more of a bounce toy, so if the squeak only broke, they may think it's still a usable toy.

And if you can't take it back to the store, that's not really their fault. If you buy something at a store and have to return it, you generally need to take it back there. Although like someone mentioned, call, they may allow you to do so later.

Or, you could try calling back sometimes you will get a totally different resolution from a different person. Good Luck.

Did you read the reviews on this toy from that link in carla's thread. One person give it one "paw" and said it didn't even last an hour. If I were you, I'd go as many places as you can and give this a one star review and tell what happened. If doesn't matter that it squeaked in the store, if it can't last a minute then what good is it. It's made for DOOOOOOOOOOOOGS! GAH!

Kong toys are actually pretty expensive. I expect all my dog's toys to last about 15 minutes before being destroyed, except for classic Kongs. They are the only thing he can't rip apart in minutes.

I've tried to buy other toys that are "guaranteed" to not be destroyed, he still manages to find the one weakness in the toy and tear it apart, LOL. Once in awhile I'll buy him a cheap toy just to destroy.

I would definitely go back to the store for the exchange, although I'm not sure how Petsmart is with that kind of thing. I buy all my dog's food and toys at Mud Bay, which I think is local...because they accept anything back, no matter what. If your dog doesn't like a new food or treat, bring it back for a full refund. I realized awhile ago my dog's chronic diarrhea was being caused by his food, and they gave me full store credit when I brought back less than half a bag of food. They donate it and are reimbursed by the food company.

I've had squeaky toys for literally YEARS, not all dogs are destroyers. Some just play and squeak them and fetch them.

Well, Petsmart came through! I called them today and they are going to replace the squeaky. My sister took it with her when she left today and will bring the new one back Christmas day. She lives near the Petsmart, which was the reason I was up there in the first place.

It's not a matter of the cost of the toy, or what it would have cost to mail it back to get another, rather that Maxwell only plays with squeaky type toys and they aren't easy to come by for bigger breed dogs. Living here, it's hard to find a squeaky of any kind! LOL

Carla - yes, I did say the kong squeaked in the store, however it did not squeak after getting it home. Why? I can't say. The link you provided was of the same type of squeezz but quite a bit cheaper than what I paid. Perhaps it's for a smaller breed dog, or perhaps I need to shop there!
