Great Gift Wrapping Idea.

A friend of mine has 2 daughters.. Every year at Christmas she wraps each person's gifts in a different color. Usually the same paper, too. One is all green, one red, one blue and so on. She doesn't put any tags on them and they never know which color is theirs until Christmas morning. Kinda smart, don't ya think??

I like that idea! Just don't forget the color code! :)

That way the kids have to shake, sniff and weigh *all* of the presents instead of just the ones they know are for them!

yeah, we always coded our presents too. Makes distribution easy as well.

However, we used wrap with designs, just a different wrap for each person.

I Found A Great Gift Idea for Older Parents

I got my mom this atomic clock/weather station. Gives indoor/outdoor highs/lows for the last 12 hrs, predicts weather for next 12/24 hrs. They say it takes 14 days to set itself to predict weather, but mine started showing snow on screen on 3rd day, next morning we had snow. (Got one for myself, my LaCrosse bit the dust after 3 yrs). This is an Acu-Rite brand, super easy set up. I like it for her because the screen is big, easy to read. One "con" is no LCD contrast adjustment, has to be hung at a higher spot on wall so other background images don't "shadow" on the screen. (Tho it will also stand, like a picture frame.) Another great stocking stuffer are those $15 remote light switches. (Can't find a pic of one & need to head out now, but they are everywhere now, Walgreen's, Ace, big box stores). There are two kinds. You plug a lamp into the switch, then either operate the lamp from a push button remote or wall 'flip' switch you can install in a handy spot (double faced backing or small screws). My mom took a few tumbles, so I hooked one up to her bedside lamp and set remote on her bedside table. All she has to do is press remote now, rather than reach over for lamp's switch. Those have been so handy I've given her several, she loves them!

I learned I have to be careful in how I present gift cards. Once I was giving two kids gift cards attached to wrapped candy bars. I gave one to the first child and was with her as she opened it and found the GC. Her sister was asleep, so I asked her to give the other candy bar + gift card to her sister later.... I found out the sister had not noticed the GC and threw it in the trash with the wrapper. Luckily, it was still there when I told her to go look for the GC with the wrapping paper. So however clever you make the presentation, make it obvious that there is a card, too.

We used to always wrap a few gifts with the comic section from the newspaper.

Until my kids left home, we never put the gifts under the tree until after they went to bed on Christmas Eve. How else can Santa take credit for our work? LOL Seriously though, it's just a habit we didn't stop until just a few years ago.

My Mom coded our tags....
with numbers, letters, or names like Mickey and Goofy, Daffy, etc!

I've been doing the same thing for years. It's much easier to wrap all the presents for one person and not have to worry about gift tags. My tags always fell off and Christmas morning someone would be opening a present, I'd get a glance at what was in the box and grab the present and say wait here and grab another gift for that person while giving the partially unwrapped gift to the rightful recipient. The kids would all laugh...it was just part of
Christmas. Once I decided on the one paper one person idea, there were fewer mishaps.

I've used the colored paper idea for my two kids for many years. I use the color of their birthstone. DD1 = July=red and DD2 = September= sapphire= blue. I don't need to buy those to/from labels. and there's no fighting over gifts.

by the time I came along in 1967, DM had been color coding presents for three years. My second Christmas, I could run & meddle then, Her and Papa decided not to put the presents under the tree until I went to bed; brother didn't bother presents. My DB took the lights apart when no one was watching, but he left the gifts alone. 8D l.marie
