I once received a spaghetti dinner. It was a cute gift bag with dry spaghetti, can of spaghetti sauce and a spaghetti server(claw ended server). You could even add a loaf of bagette bread.

If you are going to do the bisuits and jam...I would put the biscuit mix in a different sort of bag and make it pretty and print or write out cooking instructions.

I like the spaghetti dinner basket idea and the cracker/cheese/wine basket idea better, but they probably won't be expecting anything.

I just made apple butter and was thinking about including little jars of that with some sort of biscuit mix in my gifts also.

Sounds like a lovely 'little' gift. You could even add something to the biscuite mix--spices, nuts, citrus peel or mini chocolate chips--to make it something special. Just pick a flavor that goes with the jellies you've purchased, then do as Jennmonkey suggests, and repackage in a cute way with instructions. Then just arrange the jellies and mix in a pretty little basket, tie up with cellophane and a bow, and it will look really high-end.

i think the Surf and Turf dinner is a great gift on its' own. You don't need to give them something to "open and keep" with it. Just my opinion.

Absolutely! By chance do you have a cute little biscuit plate or jam spoon? I would love to get that as a gift. And the surf and turf is great!!!!! That is a treat that most folks won't buy for themselves. Very thoughtful!

Don't overthink it. Sounds great to me. Food is a great gift. This is an "add on" gift couple you don't even know, so don't get caught up in trying to give too much or you risk embarrassing them. I think it's a fine idea and who wouldn't like the surf & turf?

Methinks the stress of the season is getting to you my friend. I suggest a timeout of 30 min with Buster in your lap with ample cat treats! BTW... what has BUSTER received this feline holiday season??? Priorities, remember. Priorities. :)

Another little thing you could add to a redone package that's very pretty is a christmas cookie cutter - that could also be used to cut biscuits.
I think it's a great gift for them, Dot, and I'm sure they would not be expecting a gift from you. More than adequate!
And the steak and lobster? If they don't want them, take 'em home and enjoy them yourself!! I'm thinking they will love that gift!

I think the gift is just fine and I love the repackaging idea for the biscuit mix.

The surf and turf....wow!! To even think of a gift like that is fantastic.

I also like the biscuit and jam gift.....but I would put the mix in an airtight jar.....a mason jar? with a ribbon and directions. Even if she does cook (don't know if the cookies are hers, or if she purchased them), who can resist biscuits, and will be enjoyed.

Thanks for the in-put KT friends. I never thought of re-packaging the mix and typing the instructions. That would make it a bit more unique. I guess I don't have any doubt that Scott & Sue will like the surf & turf. They stay home New Years Eve and cook & eat quite elegantly.
Ahem.....Cynic, Buster is on my lap as I type (not easy, considering his size and mine) So I can't mention his Christmas gift. I want it to be a surprise.
