We had our TV station do 'weather reports' at the market for a few times. Afternoon market, I volunteered some veggies for the weather man to show and he mention my name. The next few markets, sales really picked up. Actually everything the TV station would mention us, our sales were up the next day or so. They have so many clips of our tables over the years. Our son was the youngest active marketer, so he and now wife were featured alot in commercials for the town.

There are programs for your computer that let you find stations. I have never used one of these programs. My understanding is there are thousands of broadcasts. Video quality ranges from un-watchable to bad-VHS. Just about all of the stuff is low budget or home made shows. ABC recently started showing streaming video of some of their more popular shows. Ours is a 2900 sq ft house, plus screened porch that we use a lot in summer. We own two TV's. We read in our LR and watch the 36" HDTV (not flat-screen) and DVD's in our 'Library'. Go figure. We also eat breakfast, lunch and dinner in our 'Breakfast Room'. (We do sleep in our BED room and bathe in our BATH room. Wish I had a shed and that our Westie would agree to shed there -- pretty funny, cynic!) The 13" Sony in the breakfast room is about 15 years old and will be replaced by a small flat screen beore too long. When it's just the two of us, we watch the news while we eat meals. We often have tea and 'afternoon matinee' in the library between 3 and 4 p.m., viewing PBS shows we've recorded or DVD movies, most of them on loan from our town library. Neither of us watches sit-coms or evening 'dramas'. We're more apt to read. (I have no idea who some KT ladies are talking about when they reference soaps or commercial TV characters and the actors who play them.) We've never wanted a TV in a BR. I understand the utility if someone is bedridden, but I like bedrooms to be quiet and calm. I'm also uncomfortable looking UP at a TV screen. I sometimes read in bed or listen to FM. I have never understood having a TV on as 'background noise'. The daughter of a friend lived with my mom and me one summer. She couldn't exist in silence; had to always have some distraction -- talking, playing the radio, whatEVER. Drove me nuts. I guess everyone IS different!

Thanks fot the ideas and pics. Now that I know about remote control extenders (thanks, Natal) I may have more options. I plan to hit a couple of antique shops this weekend to see what I see. The real issue is the width of the space (meaning how wide the console/whatever can be). Ideally it would be around 48" so while I like the idea of a sideboard type of piece, most will be too big. OTOH, I did find a regular ol' console at Room & Board that I like a lot, so I could always go that route. Still holding out for a while to see if I find something cool, though!
