Yes, too much television. We have the one in the family room which is visible from my kitchen so sometimes I watch news and things also tv in my bedroom and in hubby's bedroom so we usually watch at night in our rooms. I don't care for what he watches. I can only take so many "old westerns" ha, ha.

Yes, we do. We only have the living room and a small den. We have a TV in each room. The widescreen in the living room and a smaller one in the den. We enjoy our TVs and if we have company over and want to talk we turn them off. DH would die if I took his TV out of the living room! That is where we live.

Our house has a living room, dining room, kitchen, breakfast nook, family room, laundry room, 4 bedrooms, and 3 bathrooms.

There are television sets (some flat panel plasma HDTV and some regular) in the family room, guest bedroom, master bedroom, and my office. No more than one is on at any given time; and we never have one on just for background noise.

No ours is in the family room. We also have one in the bedroom.

Currently, we have a TV in the living room, one in the sunporch (computer room), one in the kitchen, and one in the bedroom.

However, after we move, in a few months, we'll have a family room. IF (huge if) we have any TV at all, that's where it will go. I'm seriously leaning toward not bothering, after the huge scam the TV industry, cable companies and govt have pulled on us with this digital switch over. I've been watching less and less TV anyway, and think I could easily get by without it. Am tired of paying huge cable bills to watch my own appliance, don't like that we were all told we had to buy converter boxes, then we hooked them up, they didn't work, and we were belatedly told--oh, yeah, and you'll need a new, address specific, fancy antenna to get any reception at all. I've had it with all of them.

I have a small house as well and my television is in the living room. I also have a television in the bedroom. No family room in this house. LOL Growing up we always had a small television in the kitchen. My Mom loved her television and said it was the best invention ever and she was always amazed at how it all worked.

Yes, I have one in the livingroom. That's where the guys watch football after we eat. I only watch movies from Netflix on it. I watch the TV here in my bedroom the most.
When I get a flat screen I'll move the other one to the basement, and the entertainment center it sets in. It's to big for my livingroom really.

I only have a living room, no den so I have 52 inches of tv in there. We have a smaller tv in the guest room. DH goes in there to watch sometimes.

i have one in the living room. i couldn't imagine having a television set in the bedroom.

i don't have cable and am as disgusted about the whole converter box issue. i can check out movies from the library, so that's where a good portion of my watching comes from. i am "catching" up, seasons at a time, on plenty of cable station shows. makes watching so much more enjoyable.

other time the television is on just for the noise. i used to have this little pathetic black and white 6 or 8" in the kitchen and would have that on when i was cooking/baking. it died. eventually i wouldn't mind having one for the kitchen.

i have a relative that has one in every room, and when it's superbowl, they put them in the bathrooms as well so no one misses a play.

in all honesty though, i'd rather have closets

We have 2 in the LR...one for him,one for me.The big screen is "mine" LOL! We have people over to watch games and rent some movies from PPV.I leave the smaller one on all day so the dogs have some noise,otherwise they bark at everything outside.We also have one in the 'Steeler" room(I guess it's actually meant to be the FR.I never saw much sense in a LR AND a FR.We live in our LR,the Steeler (family) room rarely gets used.We also have one 1 in the BR but it seldom is used anymore.Our friends told us we're the only people they ever saw with 2 TV's in the LR but that's why they always want to come here to watch stuff...can watch 2 shows at one time,like a sports bar! LOL!It's only me and Larry here so we live like we want and don't worry what people think.My LR is huge....so we have a TV at each end.I want to move the other big screen into the LR and put the smaller (39") one in the Steeler Room.

We have a family room and a living room and use them both. The big tv is in the family room. We have a stereo in the living room, no tv, , and when we are in there we just put the radio on a visit- at least once a day. I use the living room for relaxing or for visiting. We have a tv in each bedroom, the sewing room and the kitchen. Although, I'm just as likely to have the living room stereo on, or be listening to a podcast on the laptop when I am in the kitchen.

We have three T.V's in our house. One in the family room- which is the one I use the most. We have an older set that is in my youngest boy's room for the video game systems. The one that was in my bedroom is now in the living room. My DH and I decided that we just did not need it and by having it in the living room my other son can watch what he wants. He works crazy hours. I have never let my kids have an actual working TV in their bedrooms because I thought I would never see them- We never have our TV on if guests come. Always the stereo!

We no longer have a formal living room since we turned it into a computer room. We never used this room before but are in it all the time now. We have a small TV in here that Bobby plays his Wii and PS2 on. We also have one in the family room that is seldom used since we are hardly ever in there. When we have company there is no TV or stereo going. We have never had TV's in the bedrooms or kitchen.

Yes, because we don't have a family room and our basement is not fixed up. It is 53" too! Way too big. I really want to get a smaller one. I also want to make my deck a family room since we don't use it. The deck is 23 X 17 so it would make a great family room. Maybe someday.

We are in the process of adding a room on which will be sort of a family room I guess. People keep asking if we will have a TV in there... we won't. I'm thinking I need a place to read or listen to music if someone else is watching TV in the living room.

We have our TV in the living room because we have no other place for it. We have no family room. I would always turn it off if people visit. I think it would be rude to not do so. There is only one other small TV and it is in our son's room. We are not TV watching people.

We only have one tv and it's on a stand with wheels, so we can move it around if we want. We don't have a family room so it's usually in the living room, but we don't watch it that much. If it's on, it's usually on pbs. I don't like having tv's in the bedroom.

We don't have a tv in the living room, but do have one in the family room as well as our bedroom. It seems that I'm in the minority here, in that I leave my tv on for background noise. I grew up that way, so I can't imagine my day without it (and yes I've tried and hate the silence). I do however turn it off when company is over.

Den and 2 bedrooms. Used to have one in DH's office but gave it to DS when he moved out. There's one on most of the time.

I'm with Azzalea. I could easily live without tv. My husband likes it tho. I don't plan to have one in my living room, but
plan to add a sun porch and put the tv there, and probably one in the bedroom.

I leave the tv on in the bedroom all the time, but I turn the volume down. When I go to bed, I watch King of the Hill...if I can stay awake, and then I turn it down and listen to talk radio all night...or at least, when I wake up.

Didn't use to but when we got our big screen, we had nowhere to put our 36". We now have one in the living room and another in the family room. With only DH and I, we have different interest in what we like to watch, so now we don't conflict, when we do watch.

It works, and that room is his own Oasis when he wants his own space. I like that.

OF COURSE I have a TV in my living room! It's where I does my living! I does my bathing in the bathroom, bed down in the bedroom, laundry in the laundry room, dining in the dining room (OK, technically it's a DR but is a u-shaped combo kitchen & dining room and sometimes I eat in the living room since it's a part of living) and the kitchen, well that's where I does my kitchening! I don't have the luxury of a family room for family, parlor for guests, sunroom for sunny days, shade room for shady days, 14 bathrooms or anything and I don't even have a billy-ard room with the head of a billy-ard hanging on the wall to keep my fancy eatin' table and pot-passers. I've been trying to get the cats to shed out in the shed, but they're being non-cooperative. Have tv's in the kitchen, living room, bedroom and used to have in the computer room/2nd bedroom and garage. Don't have as many anymore and my lifestyle has changed. I spend more time on the computer now so less time on tv. Occasionally will have tv on while I'm on the computer but try to avoid it. If I have guests sometimes we watch tv together and sometimes not. If it's a "visit", the TV goes off and computer is set aside. If they stopped by to watch a football game together, I'd think it rude to not have the tv on! :)

And if I ever live out my pipe dream I'll move up north and downsize in housing to even fewer rooms. Ideally, sit in a tree in the woods near a lake and throw rocks at people who come near me without permission and keep a missle launcher handy for those personal watercraft, ATVs and old farts who've had their turn signal on since 1973.

Yes I have a 42 inch flat screen, and a 37 inch flat screen in the bedroom and a 23 inch in my computer room. My friend said, "You sure have a lot of TV's for a person that doesn't watch television." LOL

None in the living room. Our big one is in the family room. A tiny one by the sink on the counter so I can watch the news or whatever while cooking and doing dishes. One in DHs study.

granlan, aren't pets the greatest! I am always talking to my little Izzi. Most of the time I am here by myself so I talk away to her. I hadn't had a dog in probably 10 years as our daughter still lived at home and she had three, when she married and moved away, she left her rottweiler and I took care of her. She was very sweet and well behaved. I could walk her. After she was gone. I waited two years before I got my Izzi, it just happened all at once. My husband and I both really like her a lot.

Terri, your post made me realize how I manage to arrange my living room TV so I can see it from the dining table..not like I ever eat there. hahaha

My computer is in my bedroom along with the other TV..like being able to see it from my desk.

I have one tv set in the living room as that is my main living area in my tiny place.

I would love to have one in my bedroom when I am not feeling well as I don't have a couch to lay on in living room. And laying in bed when not well would be nice.

But otherwise, no, if I am in kitchen, then I zip or work around shows rush out to living room right there to see what I am missing.

How do you all afford all those hook ups to all those sets? Let alone buying all those tv sets in every room of the house.

We grew up sharing tv set and shows. Mind you we didn't watch that much tv when we grew up.

Really? Then try having major surgery and being told that you must stay in bed (except for going to the bathroom) all day and all night, every day and night. Without a television to help pass the time, you'd go "stir crazy."

Yes, having a television in your bedroom when you have to be in bed for sometime and unable to go down to the family room is very good for us. My husband has had many surgeries over the years and at those times had to be in his bedroom. I carried all his meals to him. This past Octorber he had a severe stroke and so he was unable for many weeks not to be able to come down the stairs to the kitchen and family room. He still has his old television of many years and in my bedroom I have a much newer one our children gave me two Christmas's ago. I too have times that I am not able to be up and about, bad back or knees so I appreciate a tv in my room. I think ahead about how I will do things on those days that I am not feeling well and not able to go down the stairs, my solution was a small refrigerator in my bedroom closet. Very nice while recoverying from knee surgery and being here alone. I think whatever works for everyone is just fine.

I have the big one in the family room; the living room I call the little living room since it is more of a walkway from the front door to the back family room. I have a tv in each bedroom I go to sleep with the tv or vcr on everynight and couldn't sleep if it wasn't on.
I have two little portable battery operated ones also. Sat I got a 14" TV that has the VCR already in it for $20 at an estate sale and it is sitting in the little living room until I figure out where to put it.

Our TV is in our living room. Older houses don't have "family rooms" so I guess ours is a living/family room. I don't like TV's on with company either but then we don't really get that much company.

Ours is a 2900 sq ft house, plus screened porch that we use a lot in summer. We own two TV's.

We read in our LR and watch the 36" HDTV (not flat-screen) and DVD's in our 'Library'. Go figure. We also eat breakfast, lunch and dinner in our 'Breakfast Room'. (We do sleep in our BED room and bathe in our BATH room. Wish I had a shed and that our Westie would agree to shed there -- pretty funny, cynic!)

The 13" Sony in the breakfast room is about 15 years old and will be replaced by a small flat screen beore too long. When it's just the two of us, we watch the news while we eat meals.

We often have tea and 'afternoon matinee' in the library between 3 and 4 p.m., viewing PBS shows we've recorded or DVD movies, most of them on loan from our town library.

Neither of us watches sit-coms or evening 'dramas'. We're more apt to read. (I have no idea who some KT ladies are talking about when they reference soaps or commercial TV characters and the actors who play them.)

We've never wanted a TV in a BR. I understand the utility if someone is bedridden, but I like bedrooms to be quiet and calm. I'm also uncomfortable looking UP at a TV screen. I sometimes read in bed or listen to FM.

I have never understood having a TV on as 'background noise'. The daughter of a friend lived with my mom and me one summer. She couldn't exist in silence; had to always have some distraction -- talking, playing the radio, whatEVER. Drove me nuts. I guess everyone IS different!

Granlan, no company = no stress. when I stop traveling I will get one or two cats, not sure of how many. I went to the cat show and I think about cats everyday now.

DS moved my couch from the family room into my "little living room" and also connected the new little tv I got for $20 to cable so now I sleep in there and it really looks much bigger now. I s;eep in there because the couch is nice and hard and my bed is too springy for me. I slept on this couch for oer 20 years until noisy dogs moved in next door and I had to go sleep in the bedroom.
I usually have a tv on somewhere during the day and nighttime. Yesterday we were under a tornado waarning and I wouldn't have known if the TV wasn't on to prepare for it
