I had been looking at them for about a year, and found one I really like, at a decent price. It's a GE, convection and rotisserie. I moved my bread maker to make room for it, as I use it more often. I like the toast in it, and it does both sides at once. I haven't tried the rotisserie yet, but like the other features. I particularly like the crumb tray that pulls out from the front. All others I looked at had ones that were removable from the back.

We have one and keep it inside the island cabinet, not on the counter. I don't like clutter. We use it mostly for toast or waffles and occasionally we top-brown in it to melt cheese on an English muffin. I wouldn't like to NOT have one, but we don't use it a lot.

I do flip the toast over, but probably don't need to. It's just that our bread always comes out of the freezer so I like to flip it over so it thaws/toasts evenly.

I use to have an old Black & Decker that was really good. You could cook main courses in it. The new B & D's are junk. We tried out 3 different toaster ovens last year before we found one we could live with (Oster Convection oven). They were either too small or too big or too junky.

I use them for a lot of things, like reheating pizza for lunch as I did today. I heat up a lot of breakfast type foods that my son likes. I make grill cheese sandwiches and cook chicken nuggets, hot dogs and hamburgers in it. And they are good for that frozen garlic toast, but I have never had luck with just using them to toast bread. I still use my good old toaster for that.

I bought one from QVC about a year ago and got a letter from them a couple of months ago stating it had been recalled. They sent me a return envelop and asked that I cut the electrical cord and send it to them. They immediately repayed me. I think that one was a Black and Decker.

Since then I bought a T-FAL toaster oven. It's smaller and I don't think it is a convection oven like the other one was, but I didn't ever use it anyway. I use mine a lot as a toaster. It toasts both sides at once. I really like it.

Nope, don't have to turn the bread over. Mine is a Black & Decker Texture Series but I don't find it on their website. Toaster ovens work better than recent model toasters. No matter how expensive they are, practically all reviews complain of uneven toasting, mainly because the slots are too big now for bread since they are made wider for English muffins and bagels. No such problem with the toaster oven. I love mine and use it often for baking chicken, pork chops, meat loaf, corn bread, cookies, lots of things. When I want to do some serious cooking, I use the roaster oven, but the toaster oven works just fine for just me or me and the boys. It really saves on the electric bill compared to conventional ovens. Mine doesn't have the rotisserie like Phyllis' but does have the convection feature. Haven't used it yet though. My cousin bakes his cakes in it, too. The only thing I'd say I don't like about it is not being able to turn the timer back. Once I set it, I can't decrease the minutes. If I mean to set 20 minutes but accidentally set it to 30 minutes, I just have to live with that. Similarly, if I remove the food from the oven before the time expires, I can't turn the timer off. Just have to let it countdown on its own. Can always move it forward but not backward. I know not all the ovens have a timer and I really like that feature, but it would be nice if I had total control over it. Either way, you won't regret purchasing one. Just put the toaster away.

Oh yeah, you can butter the toast ahead of time the way we used to do before toasters LOL. Another thing is quick warming for food in foil and metal pans that can't go into the microwave.

I have one, but never use it. I have a toaster, but never use it either. Hmmmmm...wonder why I have these things? Since I don't like the clutter, I have to get them out to use them. Somewhat inconvenient. Maybe that is why I don't use them?

I prefer a toaster oven to a toaster. I make toast, toast bagels, and make quesadillas, etc.

I just bought my first toaster oven ever and I'm 54! I've not had a toaster in over 10 years either. I had several gift cards to WS for both my birthday and Christmas. I decided to get the Cuisinart Brick Oven with convection after doing some research. Since we are now empty-nesters, I was feeling guilty about heating up the large range oven just to cook a pizza or toast some bread for 2 people. So far, so good.

It toasts evenly on both sides.

It came with a pizza stone which we preheat for 30 minutes (not that different from using one in a large oven). It will hold one 12" pizza.

I've only had it for less than a week.

I have a Black & Decker "counter oven" and I love it. I can toast bread in it or bagels but I have a nice toaster so I don't use it for that. Mine is big enough to cook a 12" round pizza. I use it almost every day instead of my big oven but then I am only cooking for one but I make some big dishes in it like scalloped potatoes, roasts, chicken, etc. I don't have to bend down to clean the oven either, this oven just wipes clean. Comes with a good sized broiler pan too.

My friend got a Black & Decker convenction toaster oven for Christmas and hers has a rotisserie.

I wouldn't be without mine now. I have seen some pretty small toaster ovens but mine seems to be more practical and can cook larger items.

I'd received a smallish one as a wedding gift many years ago, and hardly used it. Then little children came along, and it came in handy to cook up fish sticks, and chicken fingers, or warming up other tiny things for the tinier people in our household for lunches, since I find the micro can leave a lot of foods moist, and it could crisp things up.

Moved on to small casserole dish thingies, and it was wonderful for toasting the cut faces of our burger buns - now I use the bagel feature on our regular toaster and not as happy with it.

Only complaint was that the oven was so small, I found it difficult to get my hand in there and around the elements to give it a good enough scrub. And the fact it did take up precious counter space, then again when I had one I used it almost daily.

Now you've got me thinking I'd like a slightly bigger one, might work since the tiny people have gotten bigger too!

Maybe someone has tips on how to clean those things EASY (though nothing beats cleaning a microwave oven, just boil water with a bit of lemon/or lemon juice and wipe).

I have a very old one and the only time I pull it out is to make garlic bread...we have this for a toaster and use the dickens out of it! I also have an old/old four slice toaster that I pull out when we have company!

My toaster died an I got another one and had to take it back too. I got my Toastmster toaster overn for $6 at an estate sale of an office that was moving. I don't have any instructions so all I'm using it for is toaster pastries or pop-tarts. I think I made melted cheese in it. I wish I had the instructions. couldn't find them on the net.

I was a given a convection oven for Christmas. Well, I had hinted for one!

Phyllis, I believe mine is like yours, or very similar. I searched for a pic; didn't find one but found this copy of the booklet that came with it.

The first thing I did was to bake a potato. Turned out like it was baked in a real (not microwave) oven, with that good skin. Next I broiled a hamburger and put onion slices and french fries in with it. Yummy!

I haven't made toast yet, but I don't eat toast much except in the Summer for BLT. I do make cheese toast, which I just did and it turned out good.

I have looked around on the web for helps, hints, etc, because the little book that came with it didn't tell me much. I had thought about starting a post for recipes, helps, etc for convection ovens, but just hadn't done it yet.

So any ideas, appreciated.

Yes, Sue, that is the same one, and good idea about posting recipes we may "discover". I like the baked potatoes in it, too.....as you say, just like in the big oven.

kioni ~ the T Fal toaster oven I have has non stick sides and the crumb catcher on the bottom easily slides out for cleaning.
It also has auto shut off and a bun warmer and asome tongs with a little hook on them to pull the hot rack out a little to remove the food after cooking it.

We use our a lot. Haven't had a regular toaster in years. I like my toast buttered before it's toasted - can't do that in a regular toaster. We do waffles, cheese toast, English muffins, Triscuits w/cheese. We reheat pizza slices or anything that would get soggy if reheated in a microwave.

Another thing I like about mine is that it shuts off. The ones that two of my DDs have do not.

I use my toaster oven all the time, it is very handy as an extra oven. Mine is big enough to fit a muffin tin or casserole dish. My mom had a small one and I don't think it was as useful.

For toast I usually use a regular toaster, but the toaster oven makes okay toast. It just take longer.

I've never had one. I occasionally want one for heating something up, but I just use the microwave or oven or cooktop instead. My mom burns things in them on a regular basis. :-)

We have one and love it. Use it every day. You don't have to turn the bread over. We don't even have a regular toaster anymore. Not only is it convenient, but it uses less power since it's smaller and you don't have to run it as long as if you were heating the big oven.
Get one, you won't be sorry.
