When we were remodeling our kitchen, found the kitchen forum, KT was natural to follow.

I was looking for info on my heirloom peony & somehow got to here from GardenWeb. Now just lurk cuz things can get mean here sometimes.

I was remodeling a kitchen and found the kitchen forum. They were very helpful, and I also found a good friend I still have. I then went to the pond forum and they were real helpful as well with my pond problems. That was many years ago...maybe 2001....

I've been on GW since May, 2002. I first found GW when I was looking for plumbing help... on how to sweat a pipe. I needed to fix my pipes on my washer and wanted to do it myself instead of hiring a plumber. I found the GW plumbing forum, was told what I needed to do, and did my repair myself with great success!

After that, I became a regular on the MN Gardening forum, and have met lots of people in person and participated for years now in spring and fall plant swaps (in person) and a couple of times in the 'Winter Blues' seed swaps. I've also hung out on the hosta forum and the bird forum, and occasionally on several others. I don't recall how long ago I found the KT, somewhere around 3-4 years maybe, and have been here ever since!

I was looking for gardening stuff in 1996. At that time when we first joined we got a 'founding member' badge. Does anyone still have theirs? I've changed names so I lost mine.

I started doing worm composting again, about 3 years ago and wanted to do some more research on it, since I now live in an apartment.
Found the vermicomposting and houseplant forums.

A couple years ago I looked at the KT. I had recently gotten a bread machine, I wanted some hints about getting it to rise better. I asked fur suggestions. Immediately the ideas started coming in, and everyone was so nice and helpful. I immediately joined, and have never regretted it.

I came across the Pets Forum and Steph answered a question for me. She mentioned the KT and I've been here ten years now.

I had used a computer at work,of course, but did not have my own PC, until 1999. I was at the HGTV forum, but they were pretty nasty sometimes. Someone suggested the Garden Web, so I wandered over, and never left "home". I was sent to the teacups once, for mentioning another forum. When I questioned it, the answer was "Who do you think pays the bills? The tooth fairy???" I was out for a couple of days, so was cautious after that.

We had just moved to this area, and didn't know anyone and was pretty lonely. My daughter-in-law was a regular for, I don't know how long, on the GW as she was an avid gardener. She said I would probably like to be able to 'talk' to many people, so she registered me on the site and payed my admission. It has been a real pleasure getting to 'know' so many folk. I think that was about 5 yrs ago. She is gone now, but i will always be thankful for her thoughtfulness.

Back in 1997, I too was a visitor at the HGTV site. I moved over when most everyone else did. I took a couple of brief time outs due to too many hours at work. But I have been here since way back in Spike times.

I was researching quilting sites and found the Quilt Forum. From there I found this and the rest is history.

In 1998, someone at HGTV forum talked about this wonderful place...and I've been here ever since.

I am sure I did a search way back before Y2K for something. I didn't post much and I think my name then was Grandma Sue. I did not join when they went to pay. I was too busy to be on much anyway.

Got our first computer 99 or 2000. Did some searching for Gardening sites, found GW, went to KT. Found great friends and conversation, plus lots of great recipes! I remember Spike too. I got sent a couple of warnings back in those days.

i found kt when searching on a webtv also i was craftylady back in 1998 for crafting message boards lol i still go to the hgtv boards but not much posting done there since i couldnot lets friends there know about losing my Fallen Hero Son i had to ask if therewere any crafts for GOLD STAR MOMS AND they had to guess what happened that was 6-29-09

I work in the kitchen and bath industry. One day several years ago. I was lunching with someone in marketing and he remarked that he was getting leads ("how did you hear about us") from a "gardening site". I found GW and was hooked! I loved the Kitchen Forum.
I naively started trying to help people with their problems. NEVER mentioning my company. Long story, but somebody figured it out and blasted me. It happened also to a friend that is much more talented than myself. People really lost a gem when she left.
Then I found the KT. Love the randomness here. I almost never comment on issues that regard my profession. I did once here and got blasted again....

I googled something and got the Recipe forum. Then I saw related forums and got hooked on the Cooking forum. One day I clicked on Other Forums and saw Kitchen Table so thought it was about cooking, too. Well, it sure is that and a lot more. Very glad I found it!

I got an orchid as a gift, found the orchid forum and then found all the other wonderful sites

jasdip...I might, but definately will respond if you email me. There are so many people with opinions, posting is not worth the personal attack that some people seem to enjoy inflicting.

A good friend told me about this site of "forums" as we were setting up a forum based website at the time, and she wanted me to see GW as an example. I think that was in the late 90's or something.

Ironically (and very sadly) my friend passed away last week from a long battle of matastisized breast cancer. So She never posted on any of the sites, that I knew of. I posted on a few but KT seemed to have the most consistent activity and variety of topics.

I had just gotten a webtv and someone somewhere in the wide wide world of the internet told me to come here, and been here ever since.

I lurked here after seeking out the Greenhouse Forum. I awkwardly started talking without introducing myself, and, I think it was the first post I made, someone called me a troll. I didn't even know what a troll was, and when I looked it up I was very embarrassed. That experience, and others I've witnessed, reminds me of how some people have a sharp tongue. But aside from that, this forum is informative, supportive, interesting and fun.

I found GW in 2003 while searching for help with a computer problem. That led to the Computer Help forum and I thought the $15 yearly fee was well worth it. I don't do a lot of posting but enjoy reading what everyone is doing.

Like Liz mentioned, I was surfing HGTV's website and one of the forum members mentioned GW and the Kitchen Table, sooo I had to check it out. That was 2000. The first poster I remember was Ruthie. I don't post as much as I used to and need to do better, obviously. :)

I was here back in the days when it was Spike's project ...

... and couldn't figure how it was that, every now and again, Disney stuff would appear on my screen, as if by magic! It took a while for my thick head to comprehend that, just possibly, there was a method to the situation.

I was here during the fees, and felt it worthwhile, then after they disappeared.

Still here - but my memory isn't what it used to be, and I can't remember the reason for my coming. I think that it had something to do with a site that I used to visit called "remarq", that changed substantially.

I was redecorating and found the decorating forum, back in the fall of 99. I soon found the KT, lurked a short while, then introduced myself and began posting in Nov. 99. I posted a lot at first, and for the past 6 or so years have been an infrequent poster, although I read almost everyday. I started out with a different name, then changed to shea a few years back. It's an entertaining and informative place!

I had been posting at the Music Forum back in 2000. One day i got an email from Caseynfld saying "come on over to the KT". been here ever since with the exception of the time Spike bannished me to Disney.

Eight years ago I was starting to think about my kitchen remodel, and I stumbled upon the Appliances Forum while doing some research. Learned a lot, and then migrated to the Kitchen Forum, where I learned even more. Moved on to the KT and various gardening forums from there.

Glad I came back and read more of the responses. Troll-getting blasted for knowledge. OMG Maybe I'm just getting tired but I have LMAO

Remember the site on garden web for "refrigerator door"? I had been searing for appliance info and clicked on that, It was a old photo site and that led me to the KT..and yes I even paid...several times!

I have no idea how I found this place but I do know I've been here since the beginning.

Anyone remember Denny (or was it Deni?) ... he was around in the very early days. I think he and Spike had a difference of opinion and Deni went off to start his own meeting place.

What a crying shame Salgal! I've been a regular on the Kitchen Forum for several years and now that our kitchen is done, I'm hanging out a bit at the Bathroom forum looking for ideas, advice on our upcoming bathroom remodel. Not much activity at that forum though. They could really use someone who knows the business. For now I'm watching Bathastic, Bang for Your Buck and any other TV show that deals with bathroom remodels.

Several years ago I decided to grow heirloom tomatoes and found the tomato forum.I grew them for a 2 years and decided that was not for me so I sort of drifted to this forum.Don't post alot but try and read every day.

I am one of the ones who was looking for gardening forums and happened upon GardenWeb. I never even ventured into anything other than gardening forums for at least 2 years. Then one day I took a look at the Kitchen Table and never left. These days my gardening has tapered off, so I rarely visit the gardening forums anymore. Pretty much the Kitchen Table, Cooking forums, and Knitting and Crochet forums are the only places I visit.

I think I first came when a fellow rose nut told me about the Roses Forum here at GW.

That was back in the days when Spike ran the show. I became a paying member, and have a T-shirt and bumper sticker to prove it.

Garden Party has nice people, but it has gotten very slow. Music Room is another one I visit daily, but...

Kitchen Table is my favorite!

I had just bought an old red, white and chrome 50's "dinette set". Had done some research as to how old it was, the company that made it, etc. Saw a forum called The Kitchen Table and here I am!

Twinkie says that I would love to open a cafe/diner type place just so that I could buy up all the old retro sets that I could find and use an assortment of them in the dining area! LOL

I was on maternity leave after my youngest was born (She's almost 12 now) and was looking for a craft to keep me busy. I stumbled onto the KT and fell in love with the different personalities and the fun. I was hooked and never did find a craft to keep me busy!

I was seeking directions on how to make planters out of old tires and found a link to the Garden Forum.
The topic was Tackiest Things You've Ever Seen in a Yard/Garden!!
I don't think I've ever laughed so hard in all my life, but was at the public library, so trying to keep it to myself! The posts were absolutely hilarious!

And it had never occurred to me that tire planters were considered tacky, haha!:)

I was new to the internet but had no use for it at the time. Our daughter had started an email account for me when she headed off to college in 1992. So a few months later, DH suggested I look at the HGTV site, and so I did. I remember having to pay to be a member a few years too. I started at gardening/composting and low carb dieting, but finally ended up coming here a few times each day.

1999 my kids gave me this WebTV for my BD & I searched for a chat room---LOL Got in with a bunch of really nice peeps & all of a sudden they were GONE--Then got an e-mail from DAVE from England & he sent me here. He told me they all got sent to Disney to ride the teacups! Took me awhile to figure that one out!

A few years ago My DD was doing her kitchen, and I found I really enjoyed hearing, and seeing what others were doing. I checked out other GW forms,that she went to and then just started visting others and really enjoyed"the table" so I check in every day to vist and learn.

When I first got dial-up internet service 11 years ago following retirement, the home page of my service had a small selection of links to explore. Garden Web was one of those links. I frequented the car repair site (on Garden Web) for 6 months before I ventured into the other links.

For some reason, the "cars" forum has gotten crappy and is mostly inactive.

10 years ago, Garden Web was better behaved. At present, there are too many attempts to lay in tracking cookies on your computer. A two hour session may net 25 tracking cookies or more. Some of those may be coming from links to othere sites found in the messages.

Read an article in a Sunday paper about the gardening forums from here, particularly the rose forum, and from there I found the KT, was quite the regular way back when I was laid off from my job but once I started back to work, I have hardly been here but am trying to check in once in awhile now.

I go way back...I found That Homesite many years ago. I remember Spike and I use to pay $15.00/year to belong to the Homesite before The Village took it over. I found it because of the garden forums and the Computer Forum....My favorite two sites. I like the members of the forum also...very helpful and kind. I just started visiting the KT about a couple of months ago. Merry Christmas and be kind to one another...and remember thank all the people who are or were in your life.....each and every one of them. I plan to do that the first of the year.

I was looking for reviews of washers and dryers when I needed to buy a new one. Google found the Laundry Forum. I don't think I even joined at that time - I just read what I needed and left for probably a few years. Then when I decided to remodel my kitchen I kind of remembered GW That Home Site had kitchen stuff too so I came back. Then I joined and became totally immersed in the Kitchen site for about two years. Once I was done with that project I drifted around to Cooking and some other places. Someone else from Kitchens who was done with their kitchen suggested KT. I checked in here for a while but didn't find I had much in common with most folks since a lot of people seemed to be retired. I probably still don't have all that much in common with a lot of people here but I now check in daily to see if there's anything going on that's at all relevant to me.

Gee, maybe 1999 or 2000. I was spending a lot of time researching Prostate cancer and aortic aneurysm surgery on the web, going into many medical forums because my now-deceased DH was diagnosed with both within a week. I met someone on one of the sites, I think it was Betty(?) who said I might be interested in a forum called the "Kitchen Table".
Been here ever since.

I've been here since 1998 and I remember it was right before DH and I got married. :) I was looking for a way to get a stain out of a white shirt and ended up here. I used to post a LOT, but being married, having kids and everyday living have taken their toll on my time at the KT. Also, it's not what it used to be and now I spend what time I do have on Facebook. But I read at least a couple of times a week at the Kitchen Table. :)
