Anyone been to Park City Utah skiing?

And familiar with the lodging?

Travel agent has come up with a pkg deal, to give DS, his wife, if she wants to go, and my grandson, for spring break.

The place is Lodge at Mountain Village.

They have been to Breckenridge 3 times.

What about food prices?

Did you research it on google search? Most ski resorts are pricy and does that include airplane tickets? Utah is a great state and does get the snow and cold weather.Beautiful area.

It is pretty funny, our house to be is on a very busy street with a bakery and a famous restaurant. We had to deal with cranes and blocking off the street. Sometimes I think we are CRAZY for even starting this. It is worth it to me though because we have a lot of family history here. I read so many threads about homes being built but I feel like my situation is different because it is a row home in a major city. We completely designed the house ourselves though and I just can't wait to get in. anyone out there building a row home, show me some pics!!! :)

Driving into NYC can be very nerve wracking. If you can leave the car outside the city or plan it well and park where awm indicated you might do better. But parking can cost $50-$65 for a full day or perhaps a bit more. We don't have a car so I'm not current on prices but sometime garages fill up and you can drive around and around. You might do better parking in New Jersey in Hoboken and taking the ferry ride across the river. Especially with a young teen that's a thrill. Those run hourly. There are about 4-5 other towns along the river in Jersey to get the ferry and at the terminal a bus will take you to several midtown locations for free. The ride is about 9 minutes to cross. Here's a link to NY Waterway. That way you're free all day to go around unencumbered and you avoid driving hassles and super expensive parking. When you're done you go back across and you're outta there. I have friends who live in the buildings there who take the ferry to work every day. Times Square takes about 2 mins to see. You just stand there though you can see the ABC Studio and the jumbotron. You might want to eat lunch there at someplace like Carmine's on 44th St., which is family Italian style -- everyone sits together. There's an Olive Garden and many other places. Pizza is good in NY and there are street vendors for hot dogs and shisk kebab. I'm sure he'll want to see the jumbotron. I'd venture a 13 y.o, boy would much rather see the Museum of Natural History (take him to the Ben Stiller Night at the Museum movie first?) than the Met. Other cool stuff is the Sony IMAX theater (3-d) if you don't have that on Broadway and 68th St. Do you have a Virgin Megastore where you live? There's one in midtown (in the 50s I believe). CD heaven. If you don't do the ferry to get to town, definitely take a Circle Line Cruise. It's very cool -- West Side Highway and 39th St (may be 38th). Goes all around the island with tour guide. Also there are Big Apple bus tours from Times Square that go around. Rockefeller Center might be another place to eat lunch -- you see that on TV at Xmas when they light the tree. All types of restaurants and street food as well. If you go early in the morning the Today show studios are there as well. 49th St. bet Fifth and Ave of the Americas. I've only been to OC, Md once--have you been before? If not, I'm afraid you may be vastly disappointed. It's one of those places where they've built horrible high rises right on the beach, so no one else has any view or sea breeze. It's very over-developed, very commercial, too crime-ridden for my taste. It sounds as if you're looking for a lovely, quiet, more high-end beach visit. Have you considered driving a few more miles north, getting on the ferry, and spending a few days in Cape May, NJ? From what you're asking, I think it sounds more like what you want. It's a lovely Victorian seaside town. Lots of lovely B & B's, nothing too glitzy or commercial. Lovely restaurants. Not super-crowded. Very sedate and classy. And if you do want a little night life, you're only a stone's throw from Wildwood, and about a half hour or so from AC and OC (the NJ one--that's much more family oriented than it's MD counterpart). With the hopes you're pinning on this trip, I'd just hate to see you disappointed the way I was when I once visited OC, MD.

Thank you for your suggestions! You are totally welcome. :-) Although, honestly, I don't feel like I've contributed much, lol! ;-) The land is a little over 1 acre but only 1/3 has been cleared and the remaining is wooded. Ooooh dang, that's nice. <3 I'm in eastern Central Texas, and I'd kill for a heavily wooded neighborhood like yours. I haven’t thought about landscaping the front yet. If I could -- without sounding uppity lol -- please, please, please don't plant a tree right in front of the door! :-D I see this all. the. time. Smaller/medium-szied accent trees (preferably flowering, but stay away from Bradford Pear, lol) to frame the house would look lovely, especially with all the tall trees in the back. I also love the look of a front door painted in a cheerful color pulled from flowering perennials in the yard. <3 We did extend the covered deck to 12x20 with stairs and are thinking about a a semi in ground pool in the future The house's orientation will make this perfect! Southern exposure is great for spending time outside on a backyard deck or in a pool.

We've been to Park City 3 or 4 times to ski, though not recently. We really liked it. It is a great mtn and a great town (I've been back to town for a very brief summer visit more recently.) Travel is easy into SLC, then about a 45 min. drive. I don't remember enough about the lodging to be of any help. We've also skied Breck in the past and, between the two, I much prefer Park City. We ski Steamboat almost exclusively now. In fact, I plan to be on the slopes there by Christmas eve!

Glenda, what a wonderful gift for your ski loving family! I find Park City expensive for food and lodging, but great skiing and fun atmosphere. The less expensive resorts are the world class ski resorts of Snowbird and Alta. I live about 15 minutes down the mountain from there, so that is where we usually ski. Our local paper just listed the SL county resorts as least expensive, with Park City being third most expensive in the west!(right up there with Vail and Aspen)

Travel agent sent me the deal on a studio at Lodge at Mountain Village.

Awesome studio with the works.

I'll ask her to check into Salt Lake City and compare prices.

Have a rental car included in the pkg.

Hi Glenda, my family and I have been going on ski vacations once a year for the last 7 years - usually heading to Colorado. We made it to Park City for the first time last year due to the cheap flights and lodging we found. I can tell you that Park City is amazing - the town, people, atmosphere, and most importantly the snow and mountains. I fell in love with the town and recommend to anyone planning a ski trip. We booked with Park City Lodging and they were great! Very reasonable prices, great location and they can book transportation, lift tickets, activities, etc. I just checked their website and they are offering some pretty great specials. I would check them out (specials page) to make sure you're getting the best deal. I can tell you that staying in town (near Main St.) is worth it! I'm attaching their website for you to check out. Thanks Berberry!

I picked up from travel agent, yesterday, a gift certificate she printed out for me to give.

It's for 4 nights at the Silver King or similar in a studio accommodations, 3 out of 4 day lift tickets, ski and snowboard equipment rentals, and all taxes included, plus round trip airport tansfers via shared shuttle van.

Now all they have to do is pick a date and pay for their flights.

This will be their first to Park City. They previously have gone to Breckenridge.

Well that sounds like an amazing deal! and the silver king lodge is a great location! right by the base of PCMR and they can access the free town-wide shuttle, which will take them all over town and to the resorts (if they don't want to worry about parking at certain places). If you have any other questions about Park City, please don't hesitate to ask :)
