1. yes, about then 2.No, I didn't want to walk up to the house to get the chainsaw. the chainsaw would have been the proper way to do it. I used a linoleum knife I had with me and cut into the bark at a forty-five degree angle and went around the tree. It would have been quicker to go get the chainsaw. I really didn't think I had done a good enough job. 3. Probably about 15 centimeters. I am trying to convert to metric. (: What is that, two and half to three inches. 4. I start July 4 and want to be done by mid August. too early and they grow back and too late and risk of sap staying up freezing off the fine wood in ab early cold snap. Been there, done that. Purposefully, as an experiment. 5. this tree never came close to having half that many blooms. Now we'll see what sets.

Citrusnut, The pom tree was left outside for quite long, then they are brought inside as the other plants, but with less lights. They shed their leaves and stay bare for the whole winter. The next spring, when the bud breaks, I will do a root prune, the cycle starts. I think you can do it outside in a good ventilated area. Let me know how the coffee tastes, it's hard to beat the commercial though, you never know what chemical or special treatment they did to make the coffee taste better. Yes, the pom is outside for two weeks already, but this year, our weather is horrible as hell. It's wet and chilly, the new growth is kind of stunned and purple. I am just waiting for the nice weather to show, hopefully we can get some warmth before fall is here.

Goodness! The wine opener! I'm packing my (whole) two drawers tonight. Everything else is packed up and ready to go. I'm pulling that out now. We tear out Saturday morning. You must be very excited! When do the new countertops come? I'll have not only no heat, but no outer wall on the northwest end of the house and I live near you! Figures it's the coldest weekend of the year! Stay warm!!

Beautiful kitchen! What did it look like before? I'm curious because I just gutted an old kitchen, too, and am 95% done with the remodel. Our old kitchen was not very functional -- our family of four couldn't eat in it, it had hideous, stained melamine countertops and backsplash (though underneath was gorgeous subway tile), the radiator was under the sink and not very effective, I couldn't open some of the drawers, and the cabinets were falling apart. I really wanted a vintage kitchen with hex tile countertops, but my husband overruled me.
