3/4 of an inch here, which is more than the last two months.. When I walk in the yard I can actually feel the ground give some, It had been so hard you could feel all those hard peaks were earthworms have tunneled up. And I am talking you could feel them thru my heavy boots !

I watched that storm out there in or near Young County all evening. It was a odd one, and looked like it couldn't decide which way to go. All the watches and warnings on that storm finally have expired. It had a pretty good hail core for a while and dropped some baseball-sized hail, and it was tornado-warned. The last that I heard, only one home was damaged by the tornado. This weekend could get pretty dicey in parts of OK, but it currently looks a lot worse for IA. Dr. Forbes has given part of IA a TorCon of 7 for Sunday. I'd rather be in OK that day than in IA. It was ridiculously hot and humid this evening and I think tomorrow likely will be worse. The mosquitoes were out around dinner time. I'm kind of dreading the storms this weekend. I don't think they'll get to my part of OK until late Sunday or maybe even Monday, depending on how fast the dryline moves. Everything in the garden is getting too big to really cover up, so we just have to cross our fingers and hope the hail doesn't hit it.

Picture perfect weather in SE PA today. Sunny and temps in the high 60's. I cleaned out the garden beds. Right now at 8:09 EST it is 57 degrees. Tomorrow is predicted to be 66 and sunny, but getting colder as the week goes on. Winter is on it's way. I just can't stand the cold and gray and snow and ice and "snirt" that we get near the city. Oh well. I don't know how some of you stand those early and bitterly cold and snowy winters.

No, Jay, I don't think you will. I believe you'll have a good year this year. I want for you to have another great tomato year, and there's rumbles in the meteorological world that we might see the development of another El Nino later this year....so let's think positive! At least they aren't talking about another La Nina. I have all sorts of good vibes about this year.....not based on any form of science, just that famed women's intuition, which seems like it rarely lets me down. I think it is going to be a great tomato year and I'm hoping to put some plants in the ground early. Not this early, but certainly before the end of March. We had great rainfall here in 2015 (a little over 200% of normal), and then plentiful rainfall last year, though little fell in July, August and September. In our county this year so far, January rainfall was well above average, but then February was kinda skimpy. So far, this year just feels pretty normal----not like we'll be really wet or really dry, but maybe we'll have enough rain that I won't have to irrigate too much. Oh, and I do look at the long range forecasts and I know I probably shouldn't be expecting adequate rainfall based on what they show, but I am expecting it anyway. Maybe having two good rainy years has addled my brain and made me forget what our hot, dry summers really are like here. I'm sure we'll be too hot because that trend already seems like it is going strong. I'll just plant early and try to beat the heat as much as possible. Of course, we have to make it through the rest of fire season first, but I even have good feelings about that----not that fire season is over by any stretch of the imagination, but we are greening up fairly rapidly here and once the green-up reaches a certain point, the fires taper off pretty rapidly.
