Sorry to hear that Glenda. Just be glad you aren't here were it is in the teens outside. You could do like Moni did and spend the day at the library. Hope you get quick service. You might want to keep the heater in which ever room you are in.

Glenda, is your water heated by gas? If so, you have hot water.. :)

Fill a tight fitting container, bottle or something with hot water and take it to bed with you. :) It will warm your bed up, if you put it in ahead of time, and it will keep you warm almost all night long.

Also, put on some sweats!

About today... well, I must be honest, and confess, ever since we have our power back I have been keeping my house warmer even at night. I really don't want to wake up to a REALLY cold house, cause the power went out overnight.

I hope, I get over this soon.

Meanwhile, pull a hat out, and cover your head. A lot of heat escapes our bodies from our head.

I do hope this means you have power, just a malfunctioning furnace.

Close up all the rooms in your condo. Pick one room easy to heat, and turn on the heater in that room. Live in that room and keep the heat contained there. Pull the curtains at night to keep in the heat. You can always turn on the oven and open the oven door to warm the kitchen, which is what my mom did when the electricity went out in our midwestern home during the winter outages. Sip warm drinks and soups during the day. Eat hot meals. Put on layers of clothing. Keep your feet warm.

So sorry for you! I'm in a well heated house with a down blanket over me and I'm still chilly so I really feel your pain. Can you go stay with a friend?

I see it's the furnace since you have a heater going. Darned things always go in the middle of winter. It didn't malfunction within days of first turning it on for the season. It's murphy's law, I tell you! LOL

Awww Glenda, I'm so sorry. It gets down to around 16 deg C or probably a bit lower during the night here, and I feel so cold. Can't imagine how cold it is out there! I like Moni's hot water bottle suggestion, that's what I do these days. And I wear a scarf and socks too. Add to that about 50lbs of warm, purring felines scattered over/around me ... nice and cosy!

Oh what a bummer. Mine did that in the old house. In the middle of the night too. And luckily I had the maintainance program too. Gas company came at 3:00 in the AM.

Oh man that really is awful Glenda, how about plugging in your heating pad and resting your feet on it for a bit? That would warm you up especially if you had a blankie on top of ya ;0)

I hope you stay warm. There is nothing I hate worse than being cold!! Can you borrow an electric blanket for your bed if you don't have one? Or else take that heater in your room and close the door so the heat stays in. DON'T come out in the morning til you're dressed either!

Do not use a gas oven for heat. I always see warning on TV about that.

I'm sorry it died on you Glenda. Can't you go stay with your son till it's fixed?

Sorry to hear that your furnace died. They always do that when you need them the most. What you need is a warm little lap dog to keep you toasty warm. Mine does that even when I have the heat on. But do stay under a blanket and drinks lots of hot beverages. You don't want to catch a chill.

That happened to me one winter while DH was away on a business trip. I kept the fire going in the fireplace for 2 days. I didn't want to call a repair guy because DH does all the repairs and most outfits charge an arm and a leg. It turned out to need a new ignition switch which only cost a couple of bucks at the time. You can guess how much a pro would have charged.

So sorry to hear you're out of heat!

I don't have a sweetheart to keep my bed warm but I do have a substitute! I keep a hair dryer (travel size) by the bed. I turn it on and warm up my bed before going under the blanky =o). I do the same to my clothes when changing them.

I use it most nights, to warm up a few spots in my bed. Put it in, about an hour before I go to bed. Move it down some, just before I brush my teeth, and move it once more, just before I put my pj on. Then, when I get in, I move it to my feet. :)

It's still warm this morning.

I hope, you survived the night fine, but since I know you like to sleep in a cold room, I bet it was OK.
