Not sure about if they will pay for an accident of that sort, but it's worth asking. The worse they can say is no, which I have a feeling they might. I hope your daughter is better soon- I totally feel for you. Mine was practicing gymnastics in her room one day and fell off her bed, slamming her forehead into a huge ceramic piggy bank that was beside her bed on the floor. Nothing more alarming than seeing your baby with blood on her face and not being totally sure if they're ok or not....I almost had a heart attack and cried as much as she did. please accept my sympathy to you and your family. i think it doesn't matter when you have lot someone that feeling never goes away. in afew weeks i will have been a widow for 4 years. everyday i think of my husband. i remember what we had for supper the night before (roast and veggies) and i haven't made or eaten it since. i still wear my 3 diamond ring he gave me for our 25th anniv. still proudly with my wedding band on my left hand. i also rec'd a diamond tennis bracelet for my 50th bd (all ths jewellery within 2 months of his passing) along with a puppy gracie joy devine (i swore we would never have another pet) i live in northern ontario so i know about cold and snow today it was minus 43! i walk 21/2 miles one way everyday to visit him at the cemetery. i hate him for leaving me. my husband was just loved by everyone, he had that kind of personality. our son hAS taken over some of his dads traits like volunteering etc. and i don't think our daughter will ever get over losing her date, she was home when the firetrucks and ambulance came to the house, but she has learned to be a nicer person. life is so funny those mean people we all know seem to live forever and ever. it took me about a year to mention Al's name but now i make sure that the kids (well 22 and 27) hear atleast one story about their dad. again i'm sorry for your loss

Irishdancers, I'm so very sorry for the loss of your daughter-in-law. That's another one of those things that just seems so crazy. No matter how hard you try, you just can't make it make sense. You will drive yourself crazy trying to understand why it happened. After the past six weeks, and thinking about it so much, I can only tell you there is no answer. Even if we knew the answer, it wouldn't be good enough. What possible good answer could there be for children to lose their parent? As far as anger, my pastor told me when Ricky passed, that I would have doubt, fear, guilt, anger, etc. and that it's o.k. God knows your heart. He wouldn't have given us all of these emotions if we weren't supposed to have them. My husband was 45, close to your dil's age. I don't know if your son frequents the internet or not, but I've gotten a lot of solace from a site, Widownet. As a matter of fact, I've been amazed at the number of people who have lost their spouses suddenly. I mean, you know death happens all of the time, but you really can't relate until it happens to you. I remember being at the 2 wk point. I was still in shock I think that it had even happened. I had to convince myself every morning that it really did happen. I just couldn't believe that he wasn't still somewhere on this Earth, that he wouldn't come through that door at any minute. I am so sorry for your family. I know this has been the hardest thing I've ever had to go through and I will be praying for you all to have a peace about things. Dianalo, I truly feel for you. Two years an apocalyptic ice storm raged through our state snapping tall pines like toothpicks. The ice covered landscape looked like a scene out of Narnia. The first 24 of no power passed like an idyllic camping trip. I found my scented candles, DH lit a roaring, toasty, picturesque fire, and DDaughter melted Ice from the freezer to make big mugs of hot chocolate for us. (We have a well and a pump, so no electricity = no water). DSon found all the flashlights and set up Monopoly. Together we were a caring, loving, charming cover of LL Bean kind of a family. We discussed doing this once a week in the future; a loving family game night electricty free, peace and joy. Over the next 72 hours, blissful harmony went out the window and we turned into hostile, violent, bitter, belligerent war torn enemies. Using the bathroom would be our downfall. I must have yelled "DON'T FLUSH" a thousands times. Let me preface this by saying anyone who has had to train a boy to aim into the bowl, put the seat back down, flush and wash understands all too well understand the daunting lessons I had to undo. I never want to hear DH say "If it's yellow let it mellow, if it's Brown DON'T flush it down." We were using 5-gallon jugs of water, filled from the stream along the driveway,to keep the toilets working. Below freezing temps outside to get water through a crack iced stream. Horrible. My idea of camping is a Red Roof Inn. I don't camp, I go to the Plaza. You can see how horrible this was for me. Living in close basement quarters meant all personal privacy was gone. This 1000sq foot space with a small gas heater was how we lived.Personal space? None. I learned things about my family I really didn't want to know. Whose deodorant doesn't work, snores the loudest, needs a breath mint, has flatulence like hard boiled eggs,.... Who hates 40 degree indoor temps more. I had to endure the hum of my daughter's text messages for hours on end as teens across our town communicated endlessly about their hardships. Life living in a basement with minimal electricy, without plumbing, or heat for 7 days was hellacious! Yes 7 DAYS!!!! Truly I do understand your challenges. Hang in there. This too shall pass and you will have a lovely warm, inviting, beautiful and well deserved space. I only wish I could have emerged from that horrific basement ordeal to a beautiful new kitchen. : ) ~boxerpups And of course I have a photo. I would not be boxer without a photo.
