Francine, I didn't keep the pattern Kay gave me. I found this pattern years later when I was looking for the bullfrog boogy pattern, IMO, it is the inspiration for the Mexican Tiles quilt pattern. No, Talavera tiles do not a Mexican kitchen make, but it depends on how you use them, the style of your house, and where you live. If you use classic Mexican patterns, you'll have something that people recognize, and it will make them think "Mexico". A lot of the newer patterns are very delicate, and some could be taken for Sweedish, others for other European styles. You could choose among those for a more European look. You can also go eclectic. Choose finishes that look good with your tiles and don't worry about the "style" of the kitchen. Instead, make up some rules for your other items. Rules could be: 1) Floral and copper. That means copper or bronze faucets and knobs/pulls, and floral-ish motifs on the knobs/pulls. OR 2) Repeating symmetry, and green accents. That means a two handled faucet, maybe a bridge faucet, rather than a single handled mixer, and symmetry in the cabinet sizes and arrangement. OR 3) Talavera, metal and glass. That's St. Charles cabinets, quartz or glass counters (solid, one color, not terrazzo), and a riot of Talaveras on the backsplash. You can design a one off kitchen that will work, if you make a theme that has two or three rules, and you follow them for all the major elements. Also, check out Malibu and Batchelder tiles. These were from the early to middle 20th century, and used throughout California and elsewhere. Many were in Spanish style houses, but they were also used in arts and crafts, mission/prairie school, and even into the forerunners of mid-century modern. There are a lot of historic style things you can do with colorful tiles, including the White Kitchen, which was much seen here with colorful backsplashes, contrast trim tiles, and tiled floors (Saltillo or small hexagons, mostly, occasionally checkerboard or linoleum). Most of all, do what you love. But if you're thinking of resale, don't do it, unless it's a restoration of the original house. A lot of people are turned off by color nowadays. If you don't expect to sell for at least 15 years, or don't care if you have to accept less money because they want to rip out your beloved tiles, don't worry about it.

Yes we always have lots of fun playing it too Glenda. Patti, I wish I could teach you how, I learn better by just playing too. It is fairly easy once you catch on. We have played with up to at least 8 players before. We have a set of double 12's and also a set of double 15's (witch I don't care to use, too many numbers to add). If we do a tournament we were thinking that we would have several tables with a set of dominoes at each table and we would somehow rotate after each round. We just aren't sure how it would work. I thought maybe some one here might have done it before.
