Do you know anything about Wii games??

My DIL got a Wii system for my DS, and I was thinking about getting a game for him.The system comes with some sports games.

Does anyone know anything about these games? DS is 40...they never grow up, do they? *L*

I know they're expensive--around $50 each. How about a gift card so he can pick his own. Some of the games work with Wii Fit and unless they have the Wii Fit mat I don't think they'd work. I got my GS a Wii for Christmas but leave the games to DD. Good luck!

The Wii is my 'goal award' for myself and I'm hoping I get there by mid-February. When I lose 25 pounds (Weight Watchers) I get a Wii with Fit. I figure the Wii Fit will be a good way to get myself exercising more to reach the next 25 pounds! Not sure what that award will be yet, but I'm thinking something sparkly may be appropriate! Or a weekend on a beach.

For your gift giving, I think the gift certificate is a great idea unless you know what he wants and what accessories he will have. 'Music' is supposed to be wonderful and very popular but I don't know what it requires.

A dehumidifier is actually a small refrigeration unit that has an evaporator coil (cooling coil) mounted over a bucket or tank receiver, and it has a small fan to pull in the room air and pass it through the unit. When the unit is running correctly the evaporator coil is maintained at about 40degF so when the room air passes through the coil it is cooled to below its present "Dew Point" and the humidity (moisture) in the air condensates on the coil, then drips into the bucket or receiving tank, which in your case it also has a hose connected to the tank to drain it automatically instead of you having to empty a bucket once a day. The whole system is comprised of a compressor, which is sealed inside a welded steel canister, a small fan motor that is usually rather difficult to access, and here again, other than a serious failure of the motor, the is very little an untrained individual could do to repair it. It also has a condensing coil (cool coil) and an evaporator coil (when the heat absorbed in the cooling process is released, and both of those coils are primarily just a small loop of copper tubing that is welded together, and nothing that can be serviced by the owner. Your unit may have a filter on the air intake. If it does, it will most likely just be a simple foam filter like they use on a window AC, which can be taken out and rinsed with cold water to clean. The unit also has a "Humidistat" control that functions quite similar to a thermostat, but instead of having a bi-metal thermal sensor it has a sensor that is actually made out of human hair. When hair is wet it lengths and it shortens as it dries, so the control has a small lock of hair permanently attached on one end and the other end is attached to a movible contact arm so it can pull the switch contacts open as the hair dries and shrinks or turn the system on when the hair absorbs moisture, lengthens and allows the switch contacts to close. You want to check the air intake grille to make sure that nothing has fallen down and is blocking the air flow, and check to see if it has a filter that may need cleaning. Other than that, there is no other user repairs that you could do. Contact the MFG and see if it is still under warranty or where they recommend you have it repaired in your area. NOTE- although it is a basic refrigeration unit most HVAC & Refrig. companies will not work on them.

I recently bought a Dell 660s with Windows 7. I was seriously considering HP, but at the time I was ready to buy, the only new HP desktops I found came with Windows 8. Just chiming in with 2 cents more..Like some others here, I felt it was time to get a new computer, as my husband's is rather old and running XP, and I don't like Windows 8. My old PC is a Dell Inspiron 560, which my husband will get to replace his, and I have the Dell Inspiron 660s. Both Inspirons are running Windows 7, my hope being to hold out until Windows 9, if it is more to my liking than "'8" and I live so long (I am an old lady already, though not retired!) This may well be our last Dell. Our last 4 or 5 computers were Dells, and we have not had any trouble with them. BUT, this time I found it very frustrating to make a recovery disk in case I need to return to factory condition. The Dell Insp. 560 made that easy with a prompt right at set-up. This time, I had to search through some programs Dell had set up, one part of which, by the way, referred to clicking on a "tile," although this is a Win 7 machine. Then I got a message that some necessary file(s) had not gotten installed correctly (that would be at the factory!), so I had to download and install them, and they didn't appear in my PC for some time, so I didn't know if I had succeeded or not. Finally, an icon appeared that allowed me to make the restore disk. Particularly frustrating was the way certain explanations from Dell would tell all about the restore disk and other things, but not contain a button to click to actually DO them. That is possibly the fault of the faulty software installation I mentioned. Whatever...this experience has really soured me on Dell. Next time I will probably be looking for other recommendations here.

OK JoAnn,,,I dug through all my old papers and found it for you...The specifics are 25" Long and 3 1/2 inches wide....it is made of washable polester chenille....Item number #35-614 for $21.95... The description says The Aroma Wrap relaxes aching muscles while easing away stress with the scents of lavender, rosemary or and clove. Heat it in the microwave or chill it in the freezer to relieve tension headaches. Soft, washabble poylester chenille... We love the sports games...I got Tom the Wii Sports for Christmas...and he's almost 70 !
His son has it and Tom is hooked on it. We like the tennis, golf and bowling.

Wii Fit is impossible to get around here...hoping to get it after the holidays.

MarioKart is good, and about $30, i think. Lego Star Wars is $20. The other "lego" games are each $50 (Indiana Jones and Batman). We have fun with all of the above.

Mario Smash (?) is very popular and the new one, around $50. There are quite a few on sports.

DH just said that he loves Guitar Hero world tour with all the different instruments and lots of classic rock songs. I also want the Guitar hero ACDC addition.

I have the Wii Fit and the sport game that came with the console. The only other game I want right now, I need a Wii card for because you can only download it. TETRUS!!! I LOVE Tetrus! It's 1500 Wii points, so I'm hoping someone gives me a Wii card for Christmas. If not, DH will have to buy it for me. Wii doesn't take American Express. LOL That's my credit card.

I can highly recommend Outdoor Challenge. In fact, we think it's better than WiiFit (which we also have) We bought ours at Amazon, but I've seen it at Target. It was around $60

The sports games that come with the Wii are all good and can keep you busy for a while. If you wanna see how to make the strike on the last ball of the bowling TRAINING section which has 91 pins, check out YouTube. It is soooo cool when you can do it.

Guitar Hero is one the g'kids like, but even though I love music, I don't especially care for it. Prefer something that makes you MOVE. The g'kids also like Boogie and I like watching them do that one. At least they get exercise with Boogie.

Spouse and myself are Seniors. We play a few hours of billiards on Wii most every day. The billiards come on a disk that is packaged with the wand at Wallmart. This disk has several other of what I would call 'geezer games' i.e. bowling and golf, perhaps others. I call them 'geezer games' because the pace of play is determined by the player rather than by the CPU. One can take a shot at the queue ball and go the lunch if one wants. One does not need to instantly react to activity on the screen.

My son who is 35 loves the Tiger Woods golf one. Dh always plays it with him, so maybe that one? Kathy

You can download games on it...

Also you can play your other Nintendo brand games in it too. At least I think I'm right about that...Grandkids got it last year...and have a ton of games on it.

I don't have one...sniff...

I have the orginal Nintendo system, Super Nintendo (two systems of that one), two systems of Nintendo 64, Play Station and PlayStation two...

That's as far as I've gotten...

And I like the Role Playing games...

So you're right...some of us never outgrow or grow up...whatever...But I'm only 63....gosh that sounds old when you see it in print...LOL

My mom and dad got my sister's family and my family Wii's last year for Christmas. I have Sim's Castaways and I love it. You are stranded on an island and have to figure out how to survive. I like more puzzle type games. We also have Summer Games and that's a lot of fun, it has volleyball, minature golf, horseshoes, etc.
My husband has a couple of racing games but prefers to race on his PlayStation 2.
I also have a cooking game on the Wii that I really enjoy.
