Heinz and Ralston Purina, Eddie Bauer, Lands End, Hain-Celestial, Cabela's, Sherwin-Williams, Tropicana (Pepsico), Pizza Hut (Tricon Global Restaurants), Costco, Suiza Foods, Pfizer, Bausch & Lomb, Bank of America, Bank of America, Farmers Insurance, Jimmy Dean Food Company, and Pharmacia & Upjohn, and Brown-Forman have all withdrawn sponsorships. The dogs live in poor conditions and aren't given the human contact that they should have. They spend their entire lives outsides, tied on short metal chains, usually no longer than 3 or 4 feet, attached to stakes. Sometimes a hundred puppies are born in a year, yet some kennels only have around 100 dogs total. Where do the ones who don't "make the cut" as a top sled dog go? Some may be sold, but there is a well-accepted practice called "culling" -- unwanted dogs are killed, as well as older and/or slower dogs. Proponents claim that the information on some websites opposed to the race are exaggerated. Possible. But writers from USA Today Sports and Fox, among many others, have gone on the record and spoken out about the conditions and the race documenting deaths and abuse. Thanks summer..I hadn't seen Jojo. Yes, that is amazing. Dog indeed is the "god of frolic". We humans haven't begun to tap all the resourses in a dog. Wouldn't surprise me if one day they rule the world!

Awww! So cute! Dog ears should be rinsed generoulsy with ear cleaning solution. This cleans the gunk out and usually causes the dog to shake their head vigorously, which further dislodges the dirt and "stuff" from the canals. I then use a cotton ball to clean the exterior and interior, as much and as gently as I can. Dogs licking each other's ears isn't going to clean the ear canals, where bacterial and yeast infections can fester. If you find your dog's ears need constant cleaning, and get brown "potatoes" as I call them, you should have your vet test for bacteria and yeast. Both are easily treated with medication. Of course, you need to watch for ear scratching, rubbing and sensitivity, too. Beagles, unfortunately, are prone to ear infections. FTR, I use Zymox. http://www.zymox.com/products#earCare
