What are 'must haves' in your medicine chest

The only thing in mine right now is some Exedrin PM and, I think, some band aids

I'm going to pick up some Vicks and Nyquil today

I just love threads like this -- the ideas are so wonderful! I have had the exact same combination in a huge bed for the last 5 years. Marigold 'Golden Guardian' -- not a patula, nor an erecta, but a single orange with ferny foliage -- combined with Salvia 'Victoria'. I have moss roses with zinnias in a different fairly large bed, and orange cosmos 'Bright Lights' in front of my white trumpet lilies. Then impatiens in the shade. Needless to say, although I love them all, I am ready for a change! Through trades, I have gotten a TON of seeds, and I am excited about each and every one of them. Buuu-uuut there are still some things I want to buy. One is Celosia cristata 'Orange Temple Bells' that JaneVx mentions above. Makes an excellent cut flower, and is "newer" looking than the other kinds of celosias I can find at the garden centers. The other things I want is an annual chyrsanthemum called 'Court Jester'. Parks has one called 'Merry Mix', but there is something fishy about the directions which tell you to direct sow after 1st frost, or two weeks ahead indoors, but then they go one to say, "Just when the summer color is fading from your annual bed, Merry Mix bursts into bloom!" Might have to rethink this one -- sounds like I would go all summer with green plants waiting for cool weather. Triple_B had a comment about Venidium, and this chrysanthemum has those dark rings, too, which I dearly love. (But it is NOT as cool as the Venidium with rings that look like like they were applied with eyeliner in some places.)In any case, I am ready for something new and different, even if it's only orange marigolds with STRIPES! What are your must haves for a potting bench?

Well, my DH is in the process of making me a new potting bench. The old one just fell apart. My "must haves" were: It has to be movable Easy to clean A hole or slot in the table top to sweep dirt into. I have a tub underneath to catch the excess dirt. A smaller shelf on top to put waiting pots, trowels, etc. Old barn wood would make a great potting bench. We haven't "blinged" mine yet, so it's still pretty plain. It's also made out of vinyl and "fake" wood so it will never rot. I'll post a picture when it's finished. Good luck with yours!

Some beautiful daylilies here! For years the only true red I had was Autumn Red, & I'm not fond of it. Of course, it multiplies better than average, so I have plenty of it. As I began to collect a few daylilies, I avoided true reds, just thinking them too "common" I guess. I did get Persian Ruby & Chicago Apache, but Chicago Apache just has never been that great for me. A couple of years ago I got Red Volunteer, Frankly Scarlet, King Lamoni, Bold Move, liked them so much & got a few others & looking forward to seeing them bloom this year. I really love those with just a bit of a yellow or white edge. Thanks for all the pictures everyone!

I need to get this nailed down yesterday. My requirements are: white, gas, convection, dual oven (I'd consider one with a warming drawer instead of second oven but I'd really prefer the oven), 30". I'd kind of like dual fuel, but that limits my options a lot and it's not a must-have. From what I've read the current generation of gas ovens with convection are much better than their predecessors. Searching on AJMadison has brought me down to 12. Need help narrowing further! What else should I consider? I don't have specific BTU requirements, recommendations? Related rant: I painstakingly combed through the CR ratings (thanks, CR, for not letting me filter by color) and exactly one of the ones on my list was reviewed. "boo boo juice" (antibiotic cream), bandaids, lots and lots of bandaids, excedrin, ibupropen, ricolla lozenges, tweezers, cortisone cream, benadryl. I live with a 10 year old grandson and a husband who does construction. I NEVER get hurt (HA!!), just upset the yellow jackets A LOT. Did you know toothpaste is great on wasp stings but it must be a fluoride toothpaste, takes the pain right out, then I follow up with a benadryl. Then I stomp my way back to the garden, muttering under my breath.

Toothpaste is good for chigger bites too! I don't know how much money I wasted on anti-itch stuff before I tried the toothpaste.

Adult tylenol, children's tylenol, children's motrin, delsym, ear thermometer, mouth thermometer, floss, chapstick, nail clippers, Bandaid wash (no hurt!), bandaids, neosporin.

The there are the "extras" of some prescriptions saving for "just in case", a few narcotics, diflucan for yeast infections, a round of antibiotics to take on vacation, etc.

If you mean the medicine cabinet in the bathroom,the only thing we keep in it is the tooth paste,deodorants,shaving supplies,q tips and stuff like that.We have never in almost 45 years kept medicine in the medicine cabinet.We stopped that when the kids were small,ya know little hands and climbers!!

We keep most meds in the kitchen cabinet ,and other stuff like cold meds etc are kept in baskets in the linen closet.

Kathi is right, medicines and medications shouldn't be kept in a bathroom that has a lot of humidity and warmth, diminishes the effectiveness of these things.

Every spring I buy a new fresh bottle of sunscreen and new squeeze tube of antibacterial ointment. Seems a waste, but I prefer to have a fresh one to use than one that's sat open for the year. DH insisted the bottle he stores in the truck (-30 in winter, who knows how hot it gets in summer) would be good year after year, but his neck was getting very red after being out in the sun, so I forced him to use new sunscreen, and he noticed a difference. That stuff works. Sent the kids to a summer camp one summer, and the last day they were to walk to the local outdoor pool and swim, so I spoke with the (teenage) advisors and emphasized they need to make sure my boys (and the other kids) lube up with the sunscreen well. Oh yes, for sure, they nodded. My kids came home with red burned backs, and you could see the actual hand prints, fingers included, of them applying their own sunscreen to their shoulders and reaching down to their shoulderblades.

As for me, one year I burned myself real bad on my wrist, got a big blister, and it wasn't getting better. The red area around the blister kept getting bigger even though I applied (old) antibiotic cream on it. Bought a new tube, and the next day the redness started to shrink.

OCEAN spray...Excedrin....Aleve...Airborne...Ibuprofin...Nyquil...Robitussin...and the ever faithful Imetrex...never without Imetrex even though it's been at least 6 months since I had a migraine...(i hope by saying this I don't bring one on!)

Neosporin..and lots of bandaids...ya never know when your son is gonna get out the chainsaw and try to cut off his kneecap...
