Merry Christmas, and don't eat too much!

I know people worry about me being alone on Christmas, but really, I've had a lovely day so far. I checked my email to find that my son, against my wishes, sent me a gift certificate from Amazon. Now I can get that "Make Your Own Groceries" book! YAY!

I have a pound each of shrimp and scallops that will be my Christmas dinner and supper. My cats and birds are all set up with their special treats. I spent the morning drinking my special Christopher Bean "Winter Wonderland" coffee, and reading a Nora Roberts book.

I tried to call my mother, but her number was busy, so I suppose she is getting calls from all her grandkids.

The sun is shining, the temperature is lovely, and I'm a happy camper.

Merry Christmas, everyone, and see you online tonight...hopefully!

Martha ~ Power going out is not good, especially for any length of time. Our power was out for 13 days after Wilma hit our area, and we had to do some adjusting of our daily lives that is for sure. There is so much of our life that depends on electricity. Doing without made us appreciate the every day little things we take for granted. I agree with you, Phil, but I have dear friends who might not want to remember the significance of Christmas as you and I do and I respect their choice not, to! So, I want to make sure all feel the desire I have for them to have a wonderful time of the year, with or without Christ in their lives! For me, and those who believe as you and I do, what is Christmas without Christ? :o)

There is no place that's off limits to me, but in my small hometown we only have a Dairy Queen and 2 Mexican food places. I have learned to look up the points at Dairy Queen before ordering from there. I ate a grilled chicken salad there tonight. It's only 5 points and very filling. I would love to go to Long John Silvers, but the nearest one is 45 miles away. I would definitely go over my points for the day!! I usually eat Friday's lunch with the ladies in my office. We go to one of the Mexican food places, and they are so nice to let us order a child's plate. I usually get carne guisada and rice. It's delicious! And a child's plate is just the right amount.

Olychick, I don't know how long it takes to get sick from it, it's been a few days since we ate any of it. But I went to the same grocer today and saw that all the bagged salad with romaine had been pulled, yet the same type that I just threw away was there. So I asked the produce manager there about it and he said that what they had in there today was not from Salinas. Anyway I didn't buy any today since we had a salad last night at a restaurant - (hope theirs was safe!) I don't understand why this keeps happening if what the above post said is correct about all he rules and regulations in effect now. Of course I realize it's better now than when I was young, that was way back in the dark ages! But I also have lived long enough to know human nature, and if a person has to walk a quarter mile to get to a toilet, therefore missing out on that much time's picking - guess what?? We all know that just because there are rules doesn't mean they are going to be followed. And yes I've heard a lot of it is due to problems with irrigation or cross contamination from other areas with livestock, but again, where are the regulators on this? It's happening way too often.

A new book....yay. I find that when I get books as gifts, I inscribe inside the front cover the year, who it was from, and the occassion it was given for.

I have a few older books inherited from my nan, and would love to know these facts about it (and her).

LOL...Well, maybe I'm the only one that didn't eat too much. I cooked the shrimp for lunch, and I'm doing the scallops for dinner. Still have a load of clothes to wash, but other than that, I'm done for the day.

I'm really enjoying my book. I wish I could finish it by tomorrow, but no way. I'm only halfway done.

I'm making shrimp scampi for Mom for dinner tomorrow night.

I don't have white wine, thought, and here in Pennsylvania you can't just run to the grocery store to get wine. I've gotten very used to that in Virginia.

You have to go to a wine shop.

DS and I went to the Chinese Buffet. I think we did that last year or I did alone I can't remember off hand.
