Nothing :o(

Just put something Christmas on my front door.

Nothing in the suburbs--we're trying to get everything moved to the country, and the Christmas decorations went last year.

Normally, we do a huge outdoor display. DH has made wonderful decorations that he cut out, wired for lights, painted beautifully--some hang on the house, some in the windows, some on the front lawn. We add lots of lights on our house and bushes to those. However, for a couple of reasons, we didn't put those up--we have to re-tool, so to speak, so that things 'fit' at the new house, we don't want to have a display that's on some nights (when we're there) and off others (when we're at the other house)--makes it too easy for anyone intent on mischief to know when the house is empty. And we've just been too busy to do that, with maintaining both homes and trying to get one ready for sale.

However, in the country we did put up both our trees (on in living room, one on sun porch). Not a big chore, since we put them away decorated. We put a few little purchased light-up ornaments on the SP. I hung the stockings and put up a wreath, and a bunch of other decorations around the fireplace. It looks like a Christmas card when the fire is going.

We plan to be living in the country full-time next year and are so looking forward to getting back to doing a really spectacular outdoor display. It's going to be great in our neighborhood, because no one else seems to have a big display. Maybe, like in the suburbs, we can get the ball rolling. After we started doing ours, a lot of our old neighbors followed--and the street became a sparkly winterwonderland from one end to the other.

Dh does most of the decorating. Forgive me for sounding "Scroogy," but I'm really tired of our 35-year old decorations and would like to toss most of it and start over. That wooden reindeer, plastic pointsettia, dusty fake garland... The kids are grown and gone, and I'd really like to have a tiny tree or even no tree, but DH wants it so he does it. Fine. I must sound like a real grouch. I do like to set up my Christmas village, but it's so hard to get the big box out from the attic that I've told DH "never mind the village" for a couple years now. Sigh. I really don't love the decorating.

Somehow Christmas in Florida just isn't the same as it was in New Hampshire. It's difficult to think Christmas when we are having record breaking heat, while you are wearing shorts and flipflops.
I have candles in the windows and a wreath with a spotlight on the front door. We'll put up our small tree. DH isn't able to hang the lighted garland outdoors but I'll get it up this weekend.
We take Christmas down on New Years day and put up the snowmen we have been collecting for years.

Well...I must be an over-achiever!!! :)

Living Room: Christmas Tree w/two kinds of garland, lots of ornaments & berries. Garland and lights on top of the bookcase. Vignette on end table. Antique sled w/wreath. Wreath on Mirror over piano, lights & garland on piano.

Dining Room: Garland & lights on china cabinet. Table Centerpiece and candles. Vignettes on 3 "side tables". Various small Santa's inside china cabinet.

Family Room: Garland and lights on top of entertainment center along with 11 nutcrackers. Coffee Table centerpiece. Mantle - garland, lights, nutcrackers, stocking holders & stockings. Wine Rack - 7 ceramic villages. Various other nutcracker themed vignettes throughout the room.

Kitchen: Snowman related items on top of cabinets. Bookshelf has Christmas dishes and stemware on it. A variety of candle holders on counters. Christmas Snowman plates on the wall. Cross Stitched Snowmen framed and hanging on the walls.

Staircase: Garland, white lights, gold ribbon, red berries and white poinsettias.

Guest Bath: Hand towels, fiber-optic Christmas tree & plug in lighted tree.

Whew! I'm worn out just typing this!

We've pared down this year. We have a wreath on the front door, a small (4') tree in the living room decorated to the nines, a lighted garland on top of the stone wall in back of the TV armoire and one on the fireplace mantel, snowmen placed strategically all through the house, a small tabletop tree in the den/office, a decorated oil lamp and button Santa in the downstairs guest bath along with greenery in an antique pitcher. In the kitchen there's a rosemary tree on one windowsill and a tin bucket filled with scented pinecones and white lights next to a decorated apothecary jar on the other windowsill. I also put ribbons on the top and bottom of the glass-front cabinets in the kitchen, along with heavyweight paper snowmen 'stickers' on the glass. This weekend we'll tackle the large lighted wreath on the outside of the house.
The decorating process was pretty painless this year and I was done from top to bottom in a relatively short time.

I used to make sure there was Christmas stuff in every room. Now I get the tree up and slap some fake poinsettias in vases. Put wreaths on the door and my from Mom Coca Cola ornaments on the tv. Tada! I am done.

We don't do as much as we used to, either. Outside on the front porch railing we tie two large wreaths that have big multi-colored lights and small white lights. Red bows on the corners of the porch and on the lamppost. Red berry wreath on the front door.

Inside, is mostly white. White poinsiettas (not real but sure look like it), white tree with white lights and purple and aqua ornaments (that way I don't have to take down pictures and replace pillows). White table runner with a crystal bowl filled with silver balls). This year I'll add some flameless candles ;-)

In the pass-through between the kitchen and Florida room I have a 3 foot tree that has red lights. I found little kitchen ornaments for it. I usually have cardinals and white doves, but I can't wait to have a kitchen tree.

Takes very little time but looks festive enough, I guess. I'm not crazy about decorating, either.

Outside, we do a string of lights on the roof overhang and we have a large lighted snowman in the front, the porch has some little lighted trees and there will be a wreath on the door this weekend. Inside we put up a large lighted tree with lots of ornaments. I used to hang garland on my entertainment center, but the new cat would just knock it down... so I haven't done that for a couple years. The other knick knack type stuff is kept to a minimum.

Here's the tree I put up in the library. Gosh I hope it's just the camera and my floors aren't THAT crooked.

Okay, we're in Texas, and the weather is not the expected ho-ho-ho jingle bell dashing through the stuff, but we do decorate!
We have our tree (real) in the living room, the mantle holds our collection of Santas, the dining room has garland on the big antique server and a collection of antique candle holders with candles on the sideboard, our 35 nativity scenes from all over the world (the Kenyan one made out of banana leaves is a favorite) are spread throughout the house, and I just put garland and swags on the front entry gates. We have a large wreath on the front of the house and a smaller one on the front door. I think I'm done decorating for now.

I love decorating for Christmas! I have 2 trees, one in the living room and 1 in the family room. The one in the living room is the one we put the gifts under. It is a big tree, fairly high from the floor so lots of room under it. It's pre-lit with clear lights. I put my fancier ornaments on it. I put 2 live poinsettias on either side of the fireplace. I display my Willow Tree nativity on the large square coffee table. On the end tables I have several snow globes. The fireplace mantle has candles, some greenery and 2 metal twig reindeer as well as a framed photo of my brothes & sisters and me when we were small. In the window I have lighted candoliers.

In the family room I have a skinny tree, it fits in the corner. That is pre-lit with coloured lights. On that tree I put all of my fun ornaments....santas, snowmen and cartoon characters like Charlie Brown, the Grinch, etc. On the coffee table I have candles, a cross stitched runner that my sister made me, an animated figurine of a family decorating the tree and a wrought iron bowl holding christmas balls. On the book case and end tables I have other little decorations like snow globes, snowmen, etc. On the 2 french doors that lead to the patio I have snowflake window clings.

Outside I don't have a lot. I can only do so much (and Joe is in a wheelchair), so I only put a string of lights and garland around the front door. There is also a wreath on the front door and two 3 1/3 foot lit trees on either side of the door. They're lit with clear lights.

On my dining room table I have an arrangement of greenery that is also a candle holder. In the window are candoliers. Also candoliers in the kitchen window, a Christmas floor mat in the kitchen, a cute reindeer basket holding nuts on the kitchen table and on the island a basket of fake apples and greenery.

I may take some pictures in the next couple of days and share with you.

I don't decorate a lot. The girls put up my tree and put a few things about and that is it. Nothing outside.
