So what was the ornament for this year?

Can't do shout outs but I was browsing on the Dolls forums and saw the flower faeries which were gorgeous, btw.

I remember the light bulb penguins too, but I don't remember seeing anything for this year.

Just curious.

Since it was Flamingo making them I have NO doubt it was something spectacular!!

Now I am curious too, come on Flamey, did you join that ornament exchange again this year?

Thanks, everybody, I'm glad you like them. I mostly made them while sitting on the sofa at night, very little time on the sewing machine. And I had to fray-check the snot out of those ears to keep them from coming apart when sliding onto the chenille stems. Using my tiny paper punch worked great for making little holes. Kat, that's a great idea but I think I'll have to use one of those little miniature candy bars as a kiss is too round, but a little flat one will fit perfectly, I think. It'll give this little bag some weight and make them feel better. The scented q-tip is a great idea, too, Terri-I'll suggest that to them and they can do their own. Maybe a nice pine scent! Pine-sol! lolol Maybe slide it into a little tube so it doesn't make a stain on the wool....

Real nice ornaments .My favorite is the real fat snowman on the top left,and of course your stars,one of these days i'm going to try my hand at those stars. I'll have to take a picture of my walnut ornie/desk sitter.I bought it years ago at a craft fair,it has googly eyes,a pom pom nose and a sea shell glued on to the bottom to form the neck and make it stand,and the hat is made with a styroform cup that they melted down in the oven and formed it into a hat,and is adorned with a red rose bud.Cute and like i said i've had it for years,it sits here by my computor. OK i just took the pictures so i don't forget,i'll upload them a little later so you can see. Kathi

Thanks for asking, Zeetera, Connie and Lydia. Thank you for the compliment on the faeries, too. I didn't do but 6 of the penguins that year, they were too time consuming, but I did cardinal lightbulbs a couple of years ago, did you see those? They might be on the painting forum, still.

Well, last year I was so enthused about those faeries. I had a lot of fun making them but I spent so much time on them and the string balloons I tied them into and then the penguin olives, I just felt like a total over-achiever. I've decided to make up for that this year by doing the opposite, I really took the easy way out.

I made multi-colored Moravian Stars, sprayed glitter on them, added a little dangle with glass beads and a swarovski crystal and a silver hanger and that's it! I'm not even going to package them, presentation this year will be a wooden dowel, no bag or anything. lol

For the food portion of the party, I'm making a pan of oatmeal chocolate bites and taking a plate full of them. No big deal this year at all. I think I burned myself out last year. lol

So that's it! Simple-dimple this year. It'll be hard to find an ornament as fun as the faeries to do, but I do have one in mind for next year, little walnut halves made into pirate ships. lol

I knew you wouldn't disappoint. They are gorgeous and look like a lot of work also.

I think I remember the cardinals. They had little red knit sock hats.

You have to do all that plus make food?? lol

Simple dimple my foot! Those look time consuming and they are beautiful!!!!I LOVE them!

You are so darn creative Flamy! Wish I lived close to you,do ya think some of that creativity would rub off on me????? Nah me neither! :)

Awww, thanks you guys! They really aren't hard to make, I did each one while watching TV at night, they're made from colored printer paper cut into 1/2" strips and I taped them together in the middle. They probably take about 10-15 minutes each to make. A LOT faster than faeries! lol

I'm into bright colors, so these are very "me". Hopefully everyone will like them, I think they'll be nice on a tree.

Yes you are talented. Those are so pretty. Especially hanging on the dowel.

You mentioned walnut shells and it reminded me of one year my grandmother made ornaments out of the shells. She cleaned out the shells, put a small trinket or a dime inside, glued them back together. Glued ribbon around them and long enough to hang on the tree and sprinkled them with glitter. I'm sure you could make them prettier, but those were just a wonder to us kids.

Thanks, ladies! I'm glad they're done and ready to go, some of the ornament participants finish theirs the day of the party. lol

We all try to bring a dish to this party along with the recipe. Then someone usually makes it up into a little cookbook so we'll all have the recipes next year. That's an extra little bonus for going, good tried and true recipes that you've actually tasted.

Anyone wants to know how to make these stars, I'll point you to some instructions and a video. :)
