It sure doesn't seem like it's been 5 years. I'm going to come back and read your site in depth when I have more time but the parts I read were wonderful. What a great tribute to your dad. I knew some~~that he was a fighter but I never knew how hard he had to fight just to live to be an adult! I love the "condensed dynamite". I can see you have a lot of your dad in you. Today will be a bittersweet day.....sad that he's gone but happy to have known and loved him. (((((Jodi)))))

What a legacy. You are fortunate to have had such a person in your life. Today will be sad for you, but thank God for your memories! I lost mine in 2001 and I still think "oh, I need to tell Daddy about that." You never get over it.

jodi do you know id your dad ever "hung out" in hollywood during the 50's? i was just a kid who lived in an apt-hotel on vine street, across from the old hollywood ranch market...for some reason your dad looks so familar...

Susan, yes my dad loved Hollywood when he had to box in LA and I know he tried to get to Hollywood as often as possible. But it wasn't on a regular basis.

According to his boxing record he boxed (officially) only once in Hollywood, once in Southgate and once in Santa Monica, but I'm sure he was in So Calif other times as well. I don't know where he hung out though.

My grandfather was a boxer up in NY. His nickname was the "Plunger", although we're not too sure why?

I lost my Dad in 1982 and still miss him greatly! He was a remarkable man and father.
