I'm glad you like it, Susie, didn't you get the Emeril one?
That's the one I have and I do love it, I especially love it for beef short ribs.

Susie, I bought the Fagor multi function cooker last month and love it too. I've browned in it, used the pressure cooker function for pork chops w/mushrooms and corned beef, today I'm trying the slow cooker mode for the first time.

I have two big pressure cookers for stove top canning, stored inconveniently in the basement, where the Fagor will reside in the kitchen. I'm not usually tempted by the all-in-one type appliances, but like this one very much.

What kind did you get, Susie? Mine is on its last legs so have been gathering info for when it finally gives up the ghost.

morz8: Thanks for info on Fagor

I bought the presto one. I have always had a presto pressure cooker and had good luck with them..

Just got the one in the link for my mother-in-law. She wanted one she saw on QVC, but I ended up getting this one from Walmart.com (think they are out of them now) because of the good reviews and the low price... plus if she doesn't like it she can easily return it.

Hi Susie, I have beef cooking in my stove top pressure cooker. It is a Presto. I plan to make vegetable soup too. What all are you going to put in your soup? I am using a boneless chuckeye roast. I had it in my freezer.

Sue

Gadget, there is a Nesco unit that does exactly the same things as the Fagor, but it's about an inch bigger in diameter and won't fit a 12" shelf with a closed cupboard door :)

The Nesco is a little better price, if it weren't for my cramped kitchen, I'd have gone with that for the cost and its great reputation. No complaints at all with the Fagor though, I'm enjoying it a lot! Paid $90 Amazon, free shipping.

My original intention - when I then began starting to look at something that would pressure cook electrically - was only to replace my 1970's era West Bend bean pot style slow cooker - so many of the new slow cookers seem to cook so hot on low. The multi-function Fagor and Nesco are both said to cook at the original slow temps of the early slow cookers, but I'm just trying the slow cook for the first time with mine toay.

I am waiting for my very first pressure cooker to arrive ..it should be in a few day. I bought Wolfgang Pucks electric cooker . I am soo excited about trying different things in this cooker.
Did you find it necessary to get a pressure cooker cook book to help with using it at first or not? I thought about buying a book but didn't so if you have ,could you let me know if it's needed ? thanks

Oh, and now I see Lydia has already linked the Nesco ;) She was way ahead of me...Amazon has that too if anyone was looking and couldn't find it locally.

I have used a pressure cooker for years but it has always been a stovetop one. I have never bought a cookbook..

Sue, I used a boneless chuck roast, potatoes, gr beans, corn, onions, tomatoes and tomatoe juice. The kids love it when I make it..

Susie, my soup is similar to yours. I couldn't find the diced tomatoes so I used a can of tomato soup I had on hand, plus put in celery, cabbage, lots of carrots, a quarter of a bag of frozen mixed vegetables, sweet peppers, a little cauliflower, broccoli and some snow peas plus some beef bouillon. Salt and pepper too of course.

Sure tastes good on a cold winter day.

LOL!! Gemini, that is the one I have as well. If you happen to run into Wolfgang please don't tell him that I thought it was Emeril's!

Stuffed peppers, country ribs, potroast, I love my pressure cooker. And I use it a lot in the summer too because it doesn't heat up the kitchen.

A friend of mine has two now. He LOVES them.

Moni

I love my pressure cooker but it is the old timey one, but I love it just the same. I am glad you got yourself a pressure cooker. You will love it and find so many uses for it. When I worked it was used more than than alot of my other cookware.

There are lots of recipes and info at missvickie dot com

It is a website ONLY about pressure cooking. I have gained much knowledge there.

I have a stainless steel Presto pressure cooker.....we got it for our one year wedding anniversary and that was 48 years ago. It is not electric but it is a great thing to have in the kitchen.
I am glad you started this post.....makes me realize it is time to start using the pressure cooker again.
I love Swiss steak in it.
I have had to replace the rubber ring a couple of times and the last time a woman at a large department store told me I should just toss my old one away and buy a new one......so I found a little hardware store in the next town over and the owner ordered it for me. She told me I would have to pre-pay it......long time ago and the gasket was all of $2.27 cents.

Thanks Redcurls for the pressure cooker site. I'll be sure to check it out. I'm always up for something new.

Well the Wolfgang puck pressure cooker arrived last night . I just opened it this am and am reading the instructions...I would be lying if I didn't say I am nervous about it...BUT this weekend I am going to use it... stuffed artichokes will be first on my list of things to make... can't wait.Lynn D glad you love yours. Thanks redcurls for the website I am going to bookmark that one right now.
