Have you checked FreePatterns?

I have a couple of patterns for moccasin type slippers for children. One is entirely knit and the other entirely crochet. Don't know of any that combine the two. Both can be purchased online. Here is a link to the knit slipper. It also comes in bigger kid and adult sizes.

Below is a link to a picture of the crocheted moccasin. That particular pamphlet is out of print, but the pattern is still available in a booklet called "Baby Bootie Boutique". I didn't post a link to that booklet because the moccasins are not pictured on the cover. But if you google the title of the book you will find lots of places you can buy it.

No, I am afraid it is none of the above. It had about a 2 inch cuff.

I would have never come up with something like that from your description. To me, those don't look anything like moccasins. The only thing that makes them vaguely resemble moccasins is the colors used. There are many baby bootie patterns that look much like that and you will most likely find one of them at crochetpatterncentral.com.

Actually, they look a lot like the "work boot" bootie pattern in the Baby Bootie Boutique booklet. The picture is on the cover. All you'd have to do is leave off the contrasting stitching around the top of the foot and add the contrasting row of sc around the top edge of the ankle.
