It eats your time. Big time. I signed up, and then got lots of people in my "friends list", and had lots and lots to keep up with.

Decided it wasn't for me, and got back off it.

BUT, then I realized, you are never off it. Which in the long run didn't bother me, as I decided to go back, and have only my daughters in my friends list now.

I can keep up with what's what with them, even if they forget to email me. :)

I signed up, got a friends list going, posted some pictures for my cousins to see.... and that's about it! LOL I keep getting farmville and yoville requests, but I'm not going to play that game!

I am leery of downloading any apps.
I keep up with the kids and friends from

As far as tips and warnings, just check your privacy settings and make sure they are the way you want them...at the top of the page "Settings" and then click on "Privacy Settings."

The games are what eats up your time. I don't play them!

I use FB to keep in touch with relatives across the country and to catch up with old friends. I check it every morning with my tea. It's very nice. It only takes a few minutes every day to stay in touch.

Sandy...look for the "Kitchen Table Gang"...there's a bunch of us on there!! I've connected with people I used to work with, high school buds...lots of nieces and nephews...I really enjoy it!

I signed up but decided to cancel when I realized it was trolling my PC for lots of personal information. It recommended all kinds of potential friends who were relevant but that it should not have had any way of knowing. FB had clearly scanned emails I'd sent and who knows what else. I also found pictures of all kinds of people I know and I wonder if they realize all that stuff is out there for anyone to see. If you don't know what you're doing you haven't necessarily made EVERYTHING private for only those you approve of.

I decided as long as I am in a profession where I don't want business contacts to be able to learn all kinds of things about my personal life that I don't care to be active on Facebook. I can see how it allows people to easily keep up with a lot of people's activities without taking time to make a more personal contact with them - which apparently a lot of people like.
