No, I will never move. Well, I guess I should say, on my own accord.

The house I found is to be moved on your lot. There is a house mover's storage lot about 12 miles from here. I drive by it all the time and I often stop to look at the houses. We had a house moved onto our other place and remodeled it, and said we'd never do that again, but I still like to look at them.

Anyway, this house came in over 3 years ago, and I stopped to look at it. It was a neat old house. Just out of curiosity, called and asked about it and was told that it was already sold.

But, it was never moved. Still sitting on the lot. After the hurricane, which blew the door off front, I stopped to look at it again. It had been cut in two to move it and it
was covered over there, but sitting for so long and through a hurricane, water had come in and damaged the floors and mold was growing on the sheetrock. The front door, had crashed inside and was broken.

So called about it again, and they said a guy bought the house and was going to move it, but after he bought it, found out there were deed restrictions and he couldn't move it after all. So, there is sits. They said he wanted to sell it to see if he can re coup some of his money, plus, he is paying storage to the house movers for having it sit on the lot.

He lives about 90 miles away...I doubt he has even seen the house lately. The original price was $40,000 which included moving it. We made an offer....considerably less, but haven't heard anything back. Was hoping he would at least make a counter offer. The owner of the company was supposed to go look at it too. If they want to sell it, they need to hurry up because it already has water damage to the hardwood floors and mold on the sheetrock.

The house is an old farm house, originally from Schulenberg, Tx., which is an old German settlement. It was built around 1900. It is L shaped with 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, two hallways, a dining room, kitchen and living room. There is yet another room behind the kitchen, which is like a pantry, I guess...altho it is large.

It was built out of used lumber, but is 2 x 6's framed with
2 x 12's double walls. It is very stout! It has some nice features...like the partition between the living room and dining room is like a half wall with posts.

In the pantry, there is one of those built in cupboards that goes all the way to the ceiling, with glass doors and drawers and doors below. Cool! The kitchen is small, but
if I had it, I would take out the partition and make the room bigger....would be 20 x 10 then. There would be enough room to put a nice sized island in it, plus, I already have two big cupboards like the one already built in that I could use for my dishes, etc.

It would just go so well with all my other old junk.

Right now I am living in a building that we built to be a
shop for my husband's tools. We had planned on making it into a house...altho it is small and needs everything.
My husband was a shrimper, and it just got to the point that after going steadily down hill for several years, you can't make a living doing it any more. He got a good job (after going to school to get his license) as a tow boat captain.
So, we have the money now to either build a new house or
buy this old one, which is what I want, and remodel it.

I don't have very many waterlilies any more. My knee got so bad that I can't get around as much as I used to, and then, rehabbing takes so much time. Jody is gone for 2 weeks or more at a time now, and I have no help. It takes a minimum of two hours a day to take care of the animals.

Also, the horses got in here and demolished so many of my lilies. I was sick over it because some are irreplacable, but I couldn't keep up with 200 varieties of waterlilies...and that is how many I had. So, maybe have
30 now.

Yes, some of the possums I turned loose before the hurricane have been back, including Theodore, which is the littlest
possum I ever raised. I saw him about 3 weeks ago for the first time, and talked to him and he came to me and I picked him up and put him in a cage with an open door so he could have yogurt. He is in great shape and now I see him almost every night, eating with the raccoons.

I also got about 25 baby squirrels that were from Ike...blown out of the nest. They were big enough to release after a couple of months...I still have a few tho that were in poor shape and will probably keep them thru the winter.

Also with the raccoons now is a feral pig. There was a hog hunter near here and he got sent to prison for having 5 DWIs
(15 years because the last one he ran over someone). :))

I think he turned it loose. They used to turn them loose so they could hunt them, but as you might imagine, that is
not going to happen on my land. So, the pig comes every night with the raccoons. She is red with horizontal white stripes. I tried to look her up on the internet but all the
feral hog sites had pictures of hogs being attacked by dogs, and I didn't want to look at them.

Anyway...a book, as usual. Cross your fingers for me about the house. I was going to post a picture but I can't find what folder I put them in. Will do it later.

Oh nice cupboard Marilyn. I hope your offer is accepted. It sounds like a lot of work, but would be something to fill all your empty time. (just kidding) Between you and Caroline, I feel guilty, because I can't even paint my walls. Well, I'd have it all over if I tried.

I also love old houses,as a matter of fact our summer home is 150 years old and in it;s original condition for the most part.
I love it so instead of modernizing it it will be kept in it;s rag-tag condition,with the exception of general maintenance.

Good luck. I would think they would jump at any offer in this economy.

Uh, Marilyn, I know that you don't like company, but just wanted you to know that as soon as you get that old house - I'll be movin' in! LOL

What a lovely cabinet. I hope you get the house, even though it is a lot of work to remodel a house it is a lot of fun to get it "just right"!!!
I'd love to see more pictures of that house.
