Update on My Mom

Hi guys,

I had a bad day yesterday, bouts of crying and frustration.

I called Tues morning at 7:30 to see if she is getting in early for a CT (she was supposed to have it on Monday but didn't). She was getting prepped then for it.

When I saw her at noon, I spoke to the nurse and they are putting a PICC line into her to feed nutritious, high-coloric foods into her. It threads through her veins directly into her heart and ventricle and feeds her system directly. When I saw her, her Dr. had been in and told her the same thing. She asked him if he'd seen the CT scans, and he was headed down to look at them then. (in the morning)

The nurse came to insert the PICC line and I came back in, and the nurse said she couldn't put it all the way in, it got obstructed at the top of her chest. So she put an order in for an x-ray. They'll be able to thread it thru in real time via x-rays. So I saw mom with another tube halfway out of her arm. She just said "What else can go wrong?". My heart just broke for her.

To shorten this, I was livid when I phoned her DR office at 3:30 (nurses at hosp not allowed to tell family members results of tests) to find out the CT results. He had not even read them yet at that time!! I don't understand that...it could be something minor, or it could be a major obstruction where she needs surgery. (God I hope not)

I lost it and told the receptionist in no uncertain terms that she tell Dr. to MAKE SURE mom gets her x-ray (yesterday) so that she doesn't wait an extra day like she did with her CT.

She needs the tube inserted for nutrition.

I spoke to the hospital later on and she did have it in and they were feeding her.

Hopefully today she's feeling better, has colour in her face, and feeling somewhat stronger and hopeful.
