I have an job interview this afternoon that I'm really hopeing will work out. It's for teaching english in a company that would send me out to do classes for businesses and students with difficulties. I haven't worked for over 11 years and I'm kinda' nervous so please keep your fingers crossed for me today. :)

As I recall, I had tomatoes ripening in late August, though I didn't sell any until I brought them to market on 9/4 (skipped last market day of August due to death in the family). It was a short season though due to late blight and also picking green tomatoes due to (false alarm) frost advisories a couple of times. I did have some ripen in the basement until mid-November, but most rotted (a lot infected with LB and others bacterial or fungal diseases that didn't show when they were green). I did manage to can quite a few, and frozen a couple gallon bags of slicers (mostly hybrids) and a gallon of cherry toms. I didn't see many tomatoes at market this summer - the guy up the road from me had Juliettes in late July or early Aug, and organic farm in Simsbury had Mountain Fresh at market starting in mid-Aug I think. The Juliettes were selling b/c they were early (relatively speaking), but the vendor who had Mountain Fresh and I weren't selling many in Sept, I don't know if people were just continuing to buy tomatoes at the grocery store, or if they'd found a local greenhouse source but nobody seemed to be excited about local field-grown tomatoes after Labor Day.

Thanks for the support!! I appreciate it. I'll keep y'all posted on what happens. I should know by tommorrow how I did on the testing. If all goes well an interview will be set for Tuesday, and I'll know by next Wednesday. This is gonna be a long week.....

Aren't you clever, though! I sure do admire those who can fix household problems. Now would you come fix my refrigerator? The repairman has been here a couple of times and came well-recommended, but we still don't have cold air. By the time we replace this and that, we'll have paid almost as much as we would have for a new one. I just hate that they make appliances to fail early. Such a waste in our throw-away society but they've got us over a barrel. The $100 part that includes a small motor to move the damper is ALL PLASTIC! This is a G.E., but I think all the (American) brands are about the same.

Have you pondered possible interview questions?

"Why should we hire 'you' over someone else?"
"What are your strong points?"
"Describe yourself please."
and the real tough one (I always thought) was, "What are your weak points?"

I see you live in France. That explains the job you are seeking. Keep us posted please....fingers will be crossed until we hear something.

Yipeee!!!!!! I got the job!
She must have really liked me because normally she only hires people with teaching degrees and I don't have one. I do have experience doing private tutoring and had my own conversational english class for three years so I think that helped.

Thanks everyone!! I'll be starting as soon as my background check is finished. It's mandatory for any teaching job that could involve children. It should be done in about two weeks so I figure probably well after christmas. I already have my first student assigned to me so I hope I won't have to keep her waiting for very long.

Congratulations ... and good wishes for a happy and fulfilling experience on your part and on the part of your students, as well.

Taking a real interest in people and offering appreciation as they develop new aspects of their complex person, hitherto unrealized, helps them to really grow as people.
