Anyone with a D-Pap machine....?

What do you do if you get a cold from your sweet little GK's? It's really hard to cough with the thing on, that's for sure. I've turned up the humidity on mine, but still woke up with a sore, dry throat. Can you add anything to the reservoir to help?

I have heard of a CPAP and a Bi-PAP, but not a DPAP.

My biggest problem with a cold is a stopped up nose.
My doctor prescribes Flonase to help with that.
Or I have Vicks Vapor Rub; just a dab in my mask.
Also, if I have a cold or trouble breathing
I turn the oxygen machine/concentrater up a little.
Turning up the humidity makes me feel like I'm drowning.
Dry mouth and/or sore-dry throat is usually from my mouth
opening at night. I use a chin strap for that.

I'm with PoohBear - never heard of a D-Pap. Hubs and I both have to use a CPAP when we sleep, and we were told by the Ear, Nose & Throat doctor and the technician who dispensed our machines that we should never put anything in the water reservoir.

Ooh, I've always wanted to sew through a pepsi can. I mean just think of all the xmas gifts you could make. !!!! I realise they are trying to make it seem tough, but come on - would that really sell a machine. Well, actually, it'd probably sell it to a guy! I don't think those machines are all that good, they are trying to be an industrial, something gets lost along the way making them so complicated, IMHO! If anyone really needed the power of an industrial they'd be better sweet talking a repair shop that deals in both domestic and industrial. Those things are built to last and an older refurbished industrial (like a Juki) could be bought for way less than Â£900. Gave me a laugh though! Cheers, AJ

Does anyone machine wash "dry clean only" items?

RN, the sequins and beads were sewn on to lace. They lost none of their luster in the wash. I was afraid if i soaked just the bottoms of the gowns the soaked fabrics would behave differently from the unsoaked fabrics and trims, so I pushed the entire gown into the machine for the soak and wash. Every bit of the black dirt on the hems and trains is gone. One girl was married in a garden so you can imagine what that was like, the other was married in a children's museum and the wine drips on the front are absolutely gone! I only air dried the gowns in the dryer for several minutes to get the layers fluffed, then hung them on doors to dry. That took days! I fluffed and readjusted repeatedly, but in the end both gowns are perfect and we saved hundreds of dollars. Re The cleaning and preserving: My own gown was preserved in 1968. When we opened it before my eldest dtrs wedding in 1996, all the silver baguettes my mother had sewn on my lace had turned black, and the little seed pearls had lost their luster. It was awful, completely studded with black spots, so useless for any purpose at all. For some reason, I saved it anyway! We Good luck with the project!

Sorry, typo there. It is a C-Pap. I suspected that it was a no, but was hoping to actually sleep tonight. Oh well, I'll go back to bed and try again. Thanks.

I just started using my C-Pap about a month ago and I love it! I agree that if you are waking with a sore throat your mouth is opening and you're breathing through your mouth. My sleep study showed that I sleep with my mouth closed so I have the mask that goes over my nose. I have my humidifier on #2 and the air feels normal (not cold).

I can't believe how much better I feel now! I am so happy that I finally went for the sleep study (I stalled for over 2 years because I was embarrassed). The results of the sleep study showed that I have a severe case of sleep apnea. Yikes!

Oh, one more thing, if you have questions or concerns there is a great sleep apnea forum on the internet. Just Google "Sleep apnea forum". It always helps to read about others who are newbies and regular users to their machines.
