WRF, Wicking is a watering method. google it and enjoy the discovery ;) There are many ways that AVs can be propogated and doing it by leaves is one way. It is the way that I did it in this thread with the Optimara Ottawa. and yes, I put the solo cup in the BFJ and then place both of them in the bag/greenhouse. I leave them there (sealed) until I can see mouse ears coming up out of the dirt. Sometimes that takes a few weeks, and sometimes a little/lot longer. Patience is key. You want the root system to be developed strong enough below the dirt so that the plant itself will be nice and strong and sure to thrive. I do hope you'll stick around - there's no way you'll still be able to say you know absolutely nothing abou AVs if you pal around with us here and take a bit of initiative to learn some on your own. Hi Michelle! Wow, that is a lot of work you did for us all to see! I enjoyed going to the Regional and meeting you and seeing all the gardens with you so much!! I still have not even downloaded my pictures yet, with all the uproar of "life" since this great and fun weekend!! I don't think I will ever forget the daylily "KILLER" as I know we kept oohhing and awwing over it at every garden that had it planted! You know, being from the Oilfield Service industry Occupation (Good 'Ole Oilfield Trash), I never in my lifetime imagined myself as one of the people pouring off of a tour bus to tour daylily gardens!! I really chuckle when I think of that, as it hit me as we were climbing off the bus at one of the gardens. My, how life changes and it is so nice to have the time to enjoy doing things that are a reflection of beauty!! Fori, I made the cornbread recipe from the back of the Quaker box. Used half the cornbread for the stuffing and served the rest the following night with Chili. It's quite good! Easy Corn Bread 1-1/4 cups all-purpose flour 3/4 cup Quaker or Aunt Jemima corn meal 1/4 cup sugar 2 teaspoons baking powder 1/2 teaspoon salt (optional) 1 cup skim milk 1/4 cup vegetable oil 2 egg whites or 1 egg, beaten 1. Heat oven to 400° F. Grease 8 or 9-inch pan. 2. Combine dry ingredients. Stir in milk, oil and egg, mixing just until dry ingredients are moistened. 3. Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until light golden brown and wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Serve warm. Servings: Aproximately 9 servings I think the stuffing would be great in a chicken or turkey, too. I usually don't care for fruit with meat, but this is one exception! Linda

Today is Memorial Day and time for Step 3, Starter Fertilizer (18-24-12). Lawn is responding well to soil adjustments. It's looking gorgeous and receiving lots of compliments. I've applied a Milo application between Step 2 & Step 3. The Milo iron certainly keeps the dark green going. KBG is producing tons of rhizomes and filling in thin spots. Weeds such as clover and chickweed are being thinned out by 3" turf and several applications of weed control. Dimension took care of the foxtail grass. No evidence of any young sprouts.
