Furnace Update and a Forgetful Brother

My friends Donna and her DH Richard came back on Sunday with his tools, grease and oil and took the blower out again and fixed whatever was causing the rattle.

I feel like I have a brand new furnace and it sounds like one too. Richard checked out the exhaust pipes and said whoever put them in did a real good job. So my 38 year old furnace may last another 30 years I hope. LOL I can really feel the difference in the heat blowing through the registers now. It even smells less dusty in the house now.

Thank you for the tips about cleaning my ducts. It will be hard to do through the registers upstairs because they the screws are painted and even Richard had to scrape some paint off the register in the kitchen to open it up a bit. I have to touch it up though because it doesn't look so good now with my new yellow paint scraped off it. LOL I can open some of the ducts from down the basement and run the shop vacuum through them. I know my Dad used to clean them quite often.

It is nice to have friends that you can count on when there is noone else around to help you or knows what to do. Better than some family members of mine. LOL

I called my brother David on Saturday while it was sunny out and asked him if he would do his sister a favour and come and clean out my eavestrough over my kitchen window because it is clogged by birds nests and the water is flowing down the wall and onto the foundation instead of going down the spout. We were expecting a winter storm with snow, rain then snow and I don't want any water damage done to my new kitchen wall. David said he would come over after work but of course he didn't.

I only ask him for help if it is urgent and this was urgent in my eyes. I asked for help but deep down inside I knew he would forget to come. This is not the first time and won't be the last time. Remember last year when my hot water was streaming out of my kitchen faucet and I couldn't shut it off. He was supposed to show up then and after repeated calls said he would come but "forgot" It wasn't until I could have filled 3 swimming pools with hot water that he finally showed up. He said "why didn't you tell me it was so bad" Duh, when I say this is an emergency phonecall for help do you think I am kidding? LOLOL

I know he doesn't forget on purpose but it is a pain. I also know if this was for his inlaws he would have been there in a jiffy and not forgotten. I won't call him to tell him he forgot about me and he won't remember either when the next time he sees me in his store.

I need a man of my own around here don't I? I am going to ask neighbour Ken to lend me one of his folding ladders and try to clean it myself when this wind dies down. I only have an extension ladder and there is no way I am going up on that thing. LOL
