My baby isn't a baby anymore

She's becoming a toddler. I had her pictures taken today. It was an unplanned photo session but the photographer at Babies R Us wasn't busy, she had on a cute outfit and was in a good mood so I went for it. She did good. Here's a couple. She looks so grown up to me. Boo Hoo!

My Mom LOVES baby's breath, so I wanted to plant some for her (perennial), but her soil is way too clay. I found a great Achillea that looks very much like baby's breath. It's Achillea ptarmica which comes in a regular size of 2 feet: 'Angel's Breath'. And, it also comes in a smaller size at 1 foot: A. p. 'Ballerina'. I've had great luck with both. So, if your soil doesn't drain well enough for baby's breath, you may want to try these. Also, they look great together. They can be a little assertive in my garden, but never aggressive. It's too early for it to have come from this years spawn. They probably won't be spawning for several weeks yet. At 2 1/2" it was probably hatched last summer.

She is precious! Enjoy picking out her clothes and dressing her. My dd became very opinionated around that time and started wanting to pick her own clothes and shoes. I've learned that as long as every piece of clothing has a flower on it, it matches because flowers are pretty. Lol!

Sorry, but Aloes DO NOT prefer shade. I specifically mention the former San Diego home of Cactus McHarris who kept his entire Aloe collection out in all day, full on So. Calif sun. They colored up significantly & did beautifully; having seen them in person I can tell you they were gorgeous & bloomed too. HoovB, that's a helpful explanation abt interpreting the behavior of the leaves, so thanks, useful info to learn. Lena
