Hi KT friends...I'm Sharon C. from FL. I am 63 yrs old, married (at this point- in name only), retired and live 4 miles inland from the Gulf of Mexico between Clearwater Beach & Madeira Beach.
3 married children & 3 grandsons & my one & only 'diva' 5 yr old grandaughter...all live in NC & PA.
Wore many hats during my work years-most of which was in area eateries as head cook; then later I had a nightclub and also a restaurant. I also was a wedding planner for 35 yrs and did cakes for 30 yrs. Took off my apron & was news director & airstaff for a radio station for 6 yrs, then advertising & layout for a local newspaper. My last job was a supervisor for a telecom company in Wilkes Barre,PA.
Since I moved from NE PA to the sunny south-I spend a good deal of time helping with parties at our clubhouse, have done 5 different friends' homes in room makeovers & recently did my GS's bedroom in his requested Hawaiian theme. Took me 3 full weeks! Am now readying furniture & "Cinderella" themed items for my little diva's room when I go to PA next spring.
Love flea markets, days & sunsets at the beach, & most of all.. dancing at the various beach establishments!!
My biggest accomplishment in my life? Having the courage to undergo gastric bypass surgery back in 2000. I weighed 325lbs and lost 220 lbs in 14 short months. Even got down to 105lbs but my surgeon made me gain 25!! I weigh 139 today so I am comfortable with that as my 'goal' was 150lbs. Just glad I am alive and able to write this oh-so-lengthy post!
Have to say it's so nice to read about all of you. I have had a chair at the KT since 1998.
Oh..mcmann...where is your vacation home in northeast PA? Anywhere north or west of Scranton/Wilkes Barre? My hometown for 40 yrs of my life was Laceyville-just west of Tunkhannock,PA.

I'm Marilyn from North Jersey. I'm right across the river form New York City. I'm married with two grown sons and
one grandson. I'm still working but wish I was retired.
I don't have any pets at the moment. I lost my Dobie of
8 yrs last month. I enjoy going to the movies and Broadway
plays and quiet evenings at home.

I'm a Marilyn also. I am 61 years old, married almost 42 years. My husband is a commercial shrimper but is soon going to work as a tow boat captain. That will be a change...gone for 3 weeks at a time...home for one week. We have one daughter, born late in our marriage. She is 27 years old and lives and works in Houston. We live on Chocolate Bayou, near Galveston, Texas.

I rehab wildlife. I prefer possums but this year, I also raised orphan armadillos because the lady in our group who used to raise them passed away. At any time, I have from twenty to 90 possums that are either injured or orphaned living here. I love nature. All of it. I feed the birds, squirrels, raccoons, put out salt licks for the three deer that live on my place, and all creatures great and small are welcome here.

I am a long time watergardener, who at one time had over 200 varieties of waterlilies. I have considerably less now, but still a lot. I also like antique roses (grow them from cuttings) and tropical plants...especially unusual plants.

I love antiques and junk. I mostly collect things for the garden now...but my list of collections is vast!

I live in a very beautiful spot with no near neighbors. I may not make it to heaven when I die, but as far as I am concerned, living here is heaven to me.

I'm 62, widowed 5 years ago, and fell in love again about 3 years ago. We're tired of driving back and forth from our respective homes...so, this spring, we're going to merge.

I'm semi-retired, work part time....and my only child is my cat, FoxyLoxy.

I was born in South Philly, grew up in South Jersey. Married a guy from this area (Valley Forge), and have lived here for over 40 years.

I had Phillies season tickets for 34 years, other interests now, but I do have my old seats from Vet stadium in my den.
King of Prussia Mall is my second home, and I love to travel...have gambled in Monte Carlo and piloted a boat on the Wanganui river in New Zealand.

Professionally, I spent over 40 years in the computer industry, in just about every facet from operator to programmer to systems design to teaching for a large mainframe company, with a little bit of sales and marketing thrown in.

Donna here from South Central Mo. Born in Boise Idaho, some 70 years ago and have also lived in Fl, Mn. and Ca. before moving to Mo. 25 years ago.

Married to DH for 46 years, he has a DD from a previous marriage and we have a son and 2 daughters, 13 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Live on a 140 acre farm and have a few head of cattle, 3 horses that belong to grandchildren, 2 dogs, 3 house cats and some outside cats.

Worked as a Psych Tech for 15 years in CA, went back to RN school in my mid 40s, and retired from Public health nursing 2 years ago.

I have a small thrift shop that I run 4 days a week, gives me a legitimate reason to go to auctions and yard sales which I love.

Like to garden, read, crochet, learning to knit, and many other crafts, plus spending too much time on the computer.

More than likely I am unemployed. :) I love gardening, which is convenient as DH works for a plant farm and the discounts and freebies are great! One of my fav things to do is DIY projects and I love power tools. Christmas, father's day and birthdays are fun for me because I can use everything I give to DH.

People think of me as a very loving and compassionate person. It makes my day to be able to do something for someone else.

I am also funny and good-natured. Usually I can find a silver lining to every cloud. Laughter comes easily to me but so do the tears. Much too soft-hearted.

My dad passed away 3 1/2 years ago and I still miss him tremendously and think of him daily. Mom lives next door and is becoming an increasing responsibility, but that's ok.

Hi, another Susan here, 68 years old, widowed in May after 43 years of marriage. Grew up just outside of Philadelphia in Delaware County. Have lived in northern Delaware 36 years. Have a DS who lives 15-25 minutes away, we live in a tiny state which turns into a parking lot during rush hour.

Have a DD, Wren, who posts here now and again, now she is someone who REALLY lives in SOUTHERN New Jersey in Cape May County, she works just a mile or so from the tip of NJ. I have a summer home on the water in Avalon NJ, just minutes away from her house which is inland. With her father's illness the last year she has spent more time (one day at a time) up here than I have down there.

I live PA Dutch country and have all my life. Exactly 300 years ago ancestors on both sides settled in Lancaster county, so we all must like it here because no one ever left. I live in an c. 1830-1840 Federal farmhouse on 1/2 acre in a small town. Farm used to have 6 or 7 acres but was subdivided in the 1920s. I used to collect antiques big time and went to weekly auctions. I have nothing but furniture and assessories from the 1800's except for appliances and upholstered furniture. I have a grown son and daughter and a grand son and grand daughter. I have seven cats from 1- to almost 19 ,and about 18 large koi and a hive of bees. I love animals more than anything, and have rehabbed a few along the way. I love to read and watch Grey's Anatomy and Desperate Housewives. I'm also a political junkie and work in every election.

I spend all my free time with my children.

I love to house hunt, visit open houses, and love anything home/garden related. When I'm home, my TV stays on HGTV.

I'm "fluffy," and in a continual state of striving to get it off and keep it off.

I love the color purple. I could paint every room in my home a different shade of purple and I would never tire of it.

I wear my hair in locs, but I don't call them dreadlocks, as there is nothing dreadful about my hair. My locs are 13 months old today and I love them more everyday. I'm not Rastafarian and locs have no religious meaning to me. They're just what I choose to do with my hair. I don't mind when people ask to touch my hair or stare it. I think it's beautiful, so I understand!

I enjoy reading books, but I especially love a good magazine.

I am Vicki and I live in Las Vegas, Nevada. I was born in South Dakota and lived there until about the age of 8. Our Mom moved us to Iowa and I lived there until I was 20. My older sister had moved to Nevada and talked me into moving too. I am 49 years old...and I have to get a calculator out everytime I need to know my age. I can NEVER remember.

I have been married for 13 years to my soul mate and best friend. I have two boys, Kiel (pronounced Kyle), who is 22 and going into the police academy. And Kelly, who is 19 and hasn't quite decided what to do with his life.

I am an office manager (for 11 years) of the largest party rental store in Las Vegas and DH is the general manager. Sooooooo, we are together 24/7. I have done many jobs in my lifetime...from working at the "Popcorn Popper" on the town square for .50 an hour, to running a sewing machine in a glove factory, to driving an 18 wheeler. Being in party rentals keeps us quite busy. In our off time, we love to ride our 4 wheelers, fly fish and travel.

I love antiques and will stop at any antique store I come across. I love to cook with my DH (who just recently decided he likes cooking). I love being with my boys and their girlfriends. My mother in law drives me crazy (she lives with us).

I have always wanted to live on or own a ranch. But will have to settle for living on some acreage in Montana maybe. I love winter...my favorite time of year! I am always hot...never cold.

I have been at the KT since the beginning, with the exception of about a year. I post when I can, but I visit everyday. And I LOVE posts like this...and posts with photos of members. I have met three people from the KT...Liz from Georgia, Jodi from Southern California and Joan from Minnesota. (Off the top of my head)

I love animals, bugs, nature in all it's glory! I have stopped traffic, including some Semi's, to hurry a snake along the road. My DH says our house has a large sign over it that says "Sucker" and all injured animals end up on my doorstep!
Have visited countless Nat'l Parks and done major hiking.

I am actually a real sap and can cry at the drop of a hat. All I have to do is think of something sad and the tears flow.
I can rollerskate and dance. Used to do major aerobics! Now I walk endlessly and sometimes do Stairmaster. I'm not necessarily in great shape though I could probably outrun most people in sprints!

My mom is 87 and I fear she won't be around next Christmas.

I'm retired 6 years now and I have 4 grown daughters, and also have 10 grandkids 19 yrs-3 mo. 6 boys and 4 girls. I love flowers, and have daylilies, iris, hydrangeas, clematis, hostas. Also love Eastern Bluebirds. I have a dog Toby, and a cat Blossom. I love going to my cabin in the summer, and having a few Margaritas. I mostly lurk here, but guess I will join in,
I am from south west MO. right in the corner of the state. Married 14 years to my highschool sweetheart. 2 sons age 12 and 6, two fur babies a 2lb Chihuahua (pearljam) and a shih tzu (Gizmo)
When I work I normally work factory jobs, last one was at a machine shop.
I love horses and you can find me at my mothers horse farm quite often:) I barrel race, trail ride and am usually in at least 2 parades a year.
I collect Hostas and houseplants, I am up to around 200 hostas and 100 houseplants.
I have a ton of other various plants and flowers though, too many to name them all, but I am pretty much at a standstill as my yard really can't take any more.
I love to read mysteries, working my way down the Sue Grafton series right now.
I collect dolls that hang from the ceiling (swing dolls) have not been able to find them in a few years though (was getting them from a shop in Branson)
I have been wanting to get into doll making, but just haven't gotten serious about it yet.

OK, I grew up in Germany. Married Jerry from Ponca City Oklahoma. Have two daughters that escaped Oklahoma years ago, but one came back recently. The other one is happily married in Albuquerque.

I am mostly a lurker. I was here several years ago, left for awhile and now I check in every now and then.
I live in a small town in Virginia with my husband. Also we have a 16 yo boy and a 21 yo daughter. We have a cat and 2 dogs. One of the dogs is my granddoggy, Delia, she is a 3 year old Shih Tzu.
I love bluegrass music and am learning to play the banjo. My husband and I try to get to as many festivals as possible, which is not easy since we own a business (or it owns us).

I am 65, blissfully single now, mom to DS31. I am a CA native and have lived in Northern VA and Oregon. Moved to Iowa from CA two years ago. Best move I have ever made. I love the 4 seasons and really love storms of any kind. I recently completed the Ames Citizens Academy and look forward to the Ames Citizens Police Academy in the spring. The police academy will include riding along with the officers and going to the firing range.
In 1999 I retired from a state university where I had worked for 21 years. Since then I have had a variety of jobs in ERs, offices, and am currently in training as a city bus driver.
I live with my Lab mix, Jake, and my Siamese mix, Tikki. I like to get pets from shelters.
When I am home I watch HGTV. I love to cook, quilt, sew.
I have to confess, I am a political junkie and Iowa is the place for me to meet the Presidential candidates.
I also love to travel. I have been to Europe several times, Hawaii three times as well as Mexico, Caribbean and British Columbia. I go to CA at least onece a year.
I have met many KTers over the years. Attended two Iowa KT parties when I still lived in CA and organized a couple of Bakersfield KT parties.

Hi, I'm Bonnie from central Minnesota. I'm real good at lurking, but I do read the KT daily. hehe I've been married for 34 years and have a set of twins (boy, girl) who will soon be 30 years old. I have 6 grandchildren (2 girls, 4 boys) ranging from ages 1 to 10. I love furbabies, but at the moment do not have one. My closest little friend, Zoie, passed away a week ago in an accident. (chihuahua) I do have 3 aquariums set up, with one of them being a saltwater. I love to do crafty things, but mostly quilting and cross stitching. I have played a concertina since I was 6 years old, and have dabbled with the piano. However, at this moment I am trying to learn guitar. My husband plays guitar, and my son plays guitar and banjo, so I have teachers all around me! hehe So, when I'm not at the job that I totally hate, I have plenty of things to entertain me. Nice getting to know you all!!

My current on-line name it Mande, and live in a community outside Calgary, Alberta. I posted here for a number of years when the Kitchen Table first started, until I felt it was taking too much of my time, and then it went to pay. (I'm not even sure what I called myself then). I have kept tabs on everyone a couple of times a day since then : ). We have no children, but are kept by two cats, Thelma and Louise, sisters, which are 12 or 13 years old (I'd have to check), as well as a maniac Jack Russell dog, Terry, 20 months old. Terry usually comes to work with us, except now when it's way too cold for him to be outside. We own our business, or rather as someone previously mentioned, the business has owned us for a number of years. I worked at the University for almost 19 years, until the department "restructured" and offered me a package in January 2007. It appears that I will be employed in our business for the foreseeable future - it just seemed a given. We are at an age where we are looking to possibly sell the business and house, to downgrade to something we can look after ourselves, without staff, possibly seasonal, in a warmer winter climate.

Anyway, it's fun to be here, with the diversity of posters.

Hi. I'm littlebug5. I've been a member of the KT for about 10 years but rarely post anymore. I lurk a lot, though!

I've been married 33 years to my high school sweetheart and we're both 52 years old. We have 2 sons, ages 22 and 18. The 18-year-old is a senior this year and involved in lots and lots of stuff at school. We're constantly following him around. We live in the beautiful rolling green hills of north Missouri, but I'm a born-and-raised Iowan.

My hobbies are reading, crocheting, and walking. I work full-time at a community college (I'm in my 24th year there) and DH manages a feed-and-fertilizer farm business.

I'm Chessy and I live in Maryland with my DH of 40+ years. As my name implies, we live on the Chesapeake Bay. Am a retired school administrator. We have 2 grown children, 1 DGS and 1 on the way. I read, garden, volunteer, make baby hats and lap robes for the local hospital, belong to a needlework group, a lunch group and a garden group. We do a fair amount of traveling. Being retired is hard work.

I'm Nora from Dutchess County, NY. Married my DH 18 years ago, and I have a son from my previous marriage who's 24. DH has helped raise him since he's been 4 years old ;o) We have a pug, Tootie, and two cats, Bitsy and Bundles. We adopted the three of them (along with all our dear past felines and canines). They keep us busy and humble. I've been blessed to have my closest friend for 33 years. We talk every other day and see each other at least once a month. I worked in middle-management banking until 5 years ago when I decided to change horses and test for a Civil Service position. It's something I probably should have done 20 years ago, but hindsight is 20/20. I work as an Administrative Assistant for the Director of Administration for one of our local school districts, and boy! does it keep me on my toes. I have to say I love my job. DH is eself-employed as an electrician. DS is a jeweler for a local firm that does alot of the model-making, casting, and finishing for Tiffany's.
I love living in the Northeast because I eally enjoy the change of seasons. Love to garden, and since we have 7 acres I definitely get my fill. We have a 20' x 30' vegetable garden and many flower beds. I love to read, sew, cook, bake, and since we have a vegetable garden, I also do alot of canning.
DH and I enjoy taking trips to historical places. We try and fit at least 4 trips a year to points of interest withing driving distance...even if the driving distance is 20 hours away. We enjoy visitng local vineyards and vineyards in the Finger Lake region of NY. We love dry reds, and have a pretty extensive repertoire of wine.
We enjoy playing Scrabble, Clue, Life, and cards with DS and his GF. Love all kinds of music, from Italian opera to Jimi Hendrix to Rascal Flatts. We enjoy entertaining friends and family, and host at least 2 dinner parties a month, some small and some not so small. I learned how to cook and entertain from my mom, who was one of the best hostesses around. DH constantly tells me that I must be having a "Martha Moment" ;o) I inherited my artistic talent from my dad, and I enjoy working with my hands. My favorite TV show is "Ugly Betty", favorite movie is "The African Queen", favorite color is red, and favorite flower is the Gerbera Daisy. I'm most comfortable in jeans or casual clothes. And no make-up, ever.

Hi, I'm Susan from southern Ontario. I live about 20minutes from Buffalo. I have been married for 27 years, and have a 26 year old DD and a 22 DS. DS still lives at home and is in university. We have two babies, chihuahua's, Tosha and Gracie. I work f/t in social services.

Born in England.
Came to America as a young bride in 1960.
Have one DD married but no Grandchildren.
DH passed away almost 3yrs ago now.
Live 7 miles north of Gulf Shores Alabama on 10 acres.
Never went to work, quilting is my hobby.
I am a lurker here if there is something I need to know about this forum is the place to type problem in search it has never failed.

I will be 66 Dec.14.I live in West Texas.I have 4 children,2 girls ages 46,43 and 2 boys ages 38 and 30.I have 7 grands ages 8 to 25.I have been happily married for almost 48 years(Feb.21st.).I was born and have lived in the same town or less than 50 miles from here all of my life.Never worked,just stayed at home and raised my kids.I like most all kinds of crafts,love to paint with oils,watercolors and acrylics.Latest painting endeavor was painting gourd birdhouses but haven't been able to do much painting for 3 years due to a back problem.Can't sit too long at a time anymore.

I'm Christy, 63 years old in January. My DH and I have been married 42 years...we have two daughters, ages 40 and 38, a grandson, 4 and granddaughter 1, who have made me realize how wonderful it is to be Granny. I live about 35 minutes from Pittsburgh in the "starter house" we bought 36 years ago. I love to read, watch movies, garden, and get together with good friends. I just started an exercise program at a local gym...hope I stick to it. My DH is retired and I work 4 days a week as an accounting assistant at a home health care agency.
I check in here daily, but seldom post. I came to the Garden Web years ago, when I first started with gardening, and have been here off and on, ever since. I've enjoyed reading all of your posts.

Hi. I live in Connecticut I have three sons, one in Boston, one in North Carolina and my youngest who lives in Ct. too. My daughter lives with me which is great since my husband of 50 years passed away five years ago. She works for a hotel company and travels a lot. She has been in Italy, Luxembourg, Morrocco, Egypt, The United Arab Emerites, Poland, Jordan, Ireland, Scotland and Portugal. I have six grandchildren. Four are my youngest sons, three boys and a girl. My son in Boston has two girls they adopted in Cambodia. All of them are adorable.

Hi, I'm Pranjal, originally from India, settled in Abu Dhabi (UAE) with husband. Owned by five cats. I used to work as Personal Assistant/Exec Secretary until we moved to Abu Dhabi from Dubai about 2 months ago. I love to read, cook, go off-roading and camping. And yessss - music (& karaoke), just can't live without it. Used to work with Feline Friends in Dubai, rescuing, fostering and re-homing cats and kittens; I'll start that soon here too (hope hubby doesn't see this LOL).

I started over at the Pets Forum, and later discovered the KT. I love it here; there's never a dull moment! I've enjoyed reading everyone's posts, this is a most wonderful and warm, caring group of people.

Hi, Ya'll, I'm Ya Ya from Arkansas. I'm (gulp!) 57 years old. (How did THAT happen!?) I'm married to Twinkie, my DH of almost 20 years. We have (between us) a son, 39; a DD, 35; and a DD, 32 and seven GKs. We have two cats, Fuzzy (who's older than dirt) and Petunia (a black and white male, don't ask) and good ol' Roxie, my black and tan dachshund.

I enjoy camping, crossword puzzles, junking and sightseeing. Retired from teaching 5 years ago and do not miss it one whit! LOL

I'm a distant relative of Ya Ya's and maybe someday we can meet, now that I'm on the eastern side of the country in NC. I grew up in the Pacific Northwest, lived in Portland and Seattle, and a few places in between. I have two grown sons. One is already an attorney, and the other is waiting to take the bar exam in Feb. My husband and I have one grandchild, and one daughter-in-law. I am a substitute teacher, but am licensed as a school social worker. DH is an engineer, retired but still working full time. I "found" The Kitchen Table while looking for information on kitchen remodeling. My kitchen is still a disaster, but I really enjoy dropping in on the KT to see what you all are up to. I get such a kick out of seeing pictures of what you're having for dinner, your families, etc. The KT is never boring!

Ok, I will stick me in here. I am 66, married for 48 years to my hero. We have a daughter 47, and lost a daughter suddenly 15 months ago. Slowly, we are coming out of the fog that put us in and I can see the light at the end of this tunnel. Remembering the happy times we had with her are slowly taking over the deep sadness.

Over the years, I have worked at an answering service, a custom decorator at Sears and as a wig, bra and breast prosthesis fitter in a boutique for the hard to fit woman. What a fun and rewarding job. Women in crisis are a strong and inspiring group.

We retired back home to Pennsylvania 9 years ago after 32 years in Ohio and Michigan. Settled about 35 miles north of Pittsburgh to be near family. Daughter is 7 miles away. My life revolves around her and the grand dog, Dh and my home.
I love gardening and spend most daylight hours in my yard tending my flowers and shrubs when the weather is fit. In winter, I sew, work on jigsaw puzzles, and dust my hundreds of animal and bird figurines! I am very fond of all living creatures to say the least.

I am somewhat handicapped, having been diagnosed with Limb Girdle Muscular Dystrophy at age 17. I am extremely fortunate that I can still walk a little after all these years. I use a cane for very short distances and a walker or a scooter when out of the house.

I have been enjoying the KT since shortly after it started. I don't post a great deal, but come here to keep up with all the goings on several times a day. I laugh and cry with you all and am so greatful for the support that has been given me when I needed it. This is a wonderful place to bring your sorrows or ask for advice...and to share your joys.
