Sage words of wisdom from my Grandmother

As a kid I grew up on my Grandfathers dairy farm.

Milk cows have a peak production life of about 3 to 4 years, after which the amount of milk they produce begins to taper off. More often then not, when one of the milk cows had outlived its peak it was then relegated to be slaughtered for meat for out family. As you might imagine by that time some of that meat was quite tough.

I remember one time we were having a beef roast and it was almost too tough to chew and I casually remarked "Granma, this meat is tough". to which Grandmother replied,,

"Hush up boy, life would be much tougher if we didn't have it".
