What kind of herbs do these girls like?
Comments (13)This looks like my backyard...sometimes over 20 turkeys have visited our deer & bird feeders filled with corn & sunflower seed respectively. And we found they prefer the sunflower seed over the corn when both are available. We were told by a forester that corn is actually an empty calorie for animals & birds, as it is for humans too. But it is alot cheaper (well it used to be) than any other alternative and we have an automatic deer feeder that only spews out so much twice a day any way. And birds do a nice job of tossing sunflower seed out of the platform feeders enough to satisfy ground feeders. Oh yeah turkeys do each bugs, and they will dig up your gardens looking for them. The following are the foods they eat according to "all about birds": Acorns, nuts, seeds, fruits, insects, buds, fern fronds, salamanders. And males have a beard, I'll never forget the first time I saw a male turkey I thought it had a rope around it's neck...stop laughing it's true I had never seen a wild male turkey up close before. Comments (2)OK, invites have been sent out via MyPunchBowl (purpletrail was not cooperating). If you didn't get one, but would like one, please send me an email and I'll be happy to send you one. Looking forward to it! Tara...See MoreDo you like how "Early Girl" tomatoes taste?
Comments (23)This is my first garden (in its first year). Based in lafayette east bay hills. Grew so many EG plants without paying attention to "dry farming" etc. Now I am getting poor flavor compared to the EGs I can buy at Berkeley Bowl. Today I reduced my watering timer. Hopefully flavor will improve. Next year I will plan better. PS: I thought something was wrong with my seed variety (but I am wrong ... now that I know about the fact that flavor comes from "dry farming" and low watering). I am afraid it may take me several years before I can tune in the flavor. In the meantime I will look for alternate comparable flavor varieties which will grow under normal regular drip irrigation conditions....See MoreRegan Nursery will open for bare root ordering on September 7th, 2020
Comments (60)Regan’s called me last week to tell me they couldn’t ship to Mississippi. I’m so bummed! I hate losing all those roses that were on my list. A local nursery has Sweet Spirit sothats a plus. This was just unexpected. Honestly I was most excited about Easy Does It. This one had been on my wishlist for years. Also, another local nursery has some Brindabellas but they lost the tags so won’t know the colors for another few weeks. I’ll probably pick up a few sweet spirits and a few brindabellas to cover what I would have received from regan’s. Has this happened to anyone else? Just don’t know why they waited so long to contact me when I ordered first thing in Sept....See More- 17 years ago
