Michael Vick thinks he should be released early!

I've been hearing this all day and it just makes me sick....He is pleading guilty in order to seek an early release and get back to football. The report said, he's lost millions in salary and endorsements....(Maybe we should all pass the hat!)

I personally think he should be made to work in an animal hospital taking care of injured dogs such as the ones he had.....Just another thing to make my BP rise!

I saw one report that showed some of the dogs he used, a special kind. They were timid by nature, so they were used to throw into the pit with the fighters before the big fight to get the blood lust going because they would not fight back. They were sacrificed, torn to shreds. He needs to work off his entire sentence.

Amen...that just makes my blood boil.There are so many of those dogs in the area I live.These same people cant afford to take care of their kids but have those poor dogs.The vet we use for our choc lab see's them daily and many have to be put to sleep because of the wounds,infections or just lack of care.I cant hardly even talk about it.

I agree with Carole (a lovely lady I enjoyed meeting at Ashdown), the Michael Marriott workshop was outstanding. Although I've grown roses for a number of years, and am a consulting rosarian, I learned so many new things. One thing he said that surprised me is that everyone should plant their rose grafts at least 3" below soil level. Those of us in the North do that routinely to keep the graft from freezing in the winter, but Michael said it makes good sense to try to get your roses to become ownroot by planting them deeply because many root stocks do not live for a lot of years. If buried deeper, the roses' own roots will carry the plant on its own, even once the root stock dies. It made me wonder - I've read postings by a number of people who have said you need to replace a rose every ten years or so. I wonder if their problem is that they have planted the rose with the graft above ground and the rose died or at least declined as the rootstock declined. Interesting.....? I was also interested in the value that Michael placed on mulch. He is truly an organic rosarian and uses a number of techniques to avoid chemical fertilizers and sprays. He feels that mulch is an excellent suppressant for fungal disease. Instead of raking out old mulch or spraying the ground with fungicide, he recommends layering aged manure or compost over the old mulch, which will smother the fungus spores and continue feeding the soil and plant. He layers organic fertilizer between these layers of mulch twice a year. There were lots of other new things I learned, but I'm still unpacking from our trip. I'll post more later this week. BTW, Michael's slides of roses and gardens had us all drooling!

Thank you all for your nice compliments. Ana, we prefer to make the tatsoi salad for parties because the greens keep their shape, they are also called spoon, even with the dressing look fresh after a few hours, lettuce would not do that. It also tastes mild which is a plus for many dishes. If you don't already have is a good idea to buy a salad spinner to keep greens fresh anytime you need it. Like today, after we went shopping and came back tired, Cheryl had a dish with leftovers roasted veggies and tatsoi, everything warm from the microwave in 5 minutes. We bought some nice colorful containers like the chinese take out for everybody to take cookies home after they baked them. Tom, we should all grow greens like I said before, all you need is a container. I made Willy today a salad of tatsoi, tomatoes, red onions, calamata olives, tuna, with a little bit of olive oil and lime juice. And I mixed it with hot pasta, he said it was delicious! All right another side of the coin. What he did was horrible, truly horrible. He did admit guilt and has spent time in prison. He's still there. How many other abusers have actually admitted guilt and gone to prison? Very Very few. Frankly even when animal control has a drop dead case complete with video, all the judge does is give the abusers probation. I've seen it here time and time again. It's disgusting. Vicks case is high profile because all our husbands know him from sports. If I just think of him as a typical animal abuser, he isn't typical. He faced the music. Should he ever own an animal agin. No way in h***. He dosn't deserve their companionship. Would I wish the rest of them currently operating and abusing would face the music, yes! Will they? Not likely.

Dog's death leads to a push for quicker tracing of cellphones 5:00 PM, September 4, 2008 After her SUV, phone and dog were stolen at a cemetery last month, Hemet resident Mary Michael tried to get Verizon to track the phone in the vehicle carrying her beloved pet, Rebel. Verizon said it couldn't do so without a warrant. Rebel was found dead, prompting Michael to take aim at that regulation, The Times' David Kelly reports: A distraught Michael said Rebel would be alive today if Verizon had traced the cellphone she had left inside the car. "They could have saved Rebel's life," she said Tuesday during a news conference outside Riverside County Superior Court. "It's my phone. It has GPS capability. We should be able to use it." Michael, who is originally from London and lives in Hemet, has started a campaign to make such tracking easier. Many wireless companies now require warrants before tracing phones, but Michael argues that obtaining a warrant takes too long when a life hangs in the balance. Verizon spokesman Ken Muche said state and federal privacy laws make it impossible to trace a phone without a court order. He said criminals and stalkers had impersonated customers in the past to try to find cellphone users. "We work with law enforcement and will respond to requests from the court like subpoenas and warrants," Muche said. "We have a policy in place so our customer service people are not in a position of having to determine a person's identity." Had Verizon traced the phone, it could have pinpointed the location as close as 50 to 100 yards, he said. That was cold comfort to Michael. One - who ever leaves a dog or an unattended child in a running car is ASKING for trouble especially in Southern California. Two - If she had wanted to leave the dog in the A/C cooled car she should have locked the doors and taken her remote control key or second key with her. Three - Although the dog and this woman were traumatized and victimed and it is horrible that it ended in the dogs death, THIS WAS COMPLETELY AVOIDABLE had the owner used common sense. There was a man in NH that was give a sentence of 35 years, and her can never own a dog, for raising, breeding and fighting dogs. Michael Vick deserves the same.

That man is a disgrace. If he weren't a sports 'star', he never would have gotten off early. They are sending the American people the wrong message on this one. I hope he rots in he!!.

This is an ignorant, unbelievably cruel piece of you-know-what. I am so sick of ball jockies getting just a slap on the wrist when they break the law. Yes, he lost millions. But because of his own actions. Any team that signs him to play again should get the biggest, longest boy-cott ever. Dottie

he should be released....into a small room with some of those poor dogs that he turned into killers.
Sorry, I know that sounds cruel, but he just makes me sick.

He's serving 23 months, isn't he? That's good.

I visited our local Humane Society recently and walked around to look at the dogs. It was cage after cage of pit bulls. Some looked nice, some didn't. I don't get it. Where do those dogs come from and why are they there?

I don't understand the pit bull thing either. There are so many wonderful breeds, why choose one that has a built-in crazy switch? I know they can be nice, but once set off, they can be killers. Why risk it?

I also don't understand Vickers and people like him who get off on the violence and blood. And using a animal to fight your battles. It's hateful and I'm sorry his punishment isn't going to be more severe. I hope no one signs him, but if they do, I like the suggestion that the team be boycotted.

I can't believe their letting him walk after such a short time...My nephew who's a serious football fan bet me he'd be back to playing football...I know the Atlanta Falcons say he's not welcome back and I sure hope the rest of the NFL follow suit...

I have a friend who worked as a bookkeeper for a vet. The drug dealers have pit bulls at their homes to protect their stash of drugs and $$$. That explains their popularity in many areas, even where you would not suspect drugs. And then there's the dog fight angle too.

While I do not agree with Vick in anything he's done..and do agree that he didn't get a strong enough sentence and time served..
NOT ALL Pitbulls are owned by drug dealers and Thugs.
I know several people that have them as family pets and they have been treated day one as any other breed of dog that is a family pet.

My Border Collie/Aussie prefers to snap much more than any of these Pits I've met.

We have a pitbull that we rescued from the NH SPCA. Peati came in as a stray. They had her spayed, knowing that she is a wonderful dog. All the bullys that I've ever known were wonderful loyal dogs. Dogs are like children it's all in the way they are raised, IMHO.

DH has been in and out of people's homes for 30 years doing HVAC service and installation. Dog he's been bitten by most...Cocker Spaniel.

I hope he's made to work at a shelter maybe he'd learn just how wonderful the love of a dog can be.
