Our favourite greenhouse has a cat too. I'll be browsing through the plants and there will be the cat asleep among them.

Another store is full of china.... high-end and just regular mugs etc. There are 4 cats! One is often laying on the counter when you pay, the others are laying anywhere they please.The owner said they have never broken anything; unlike some customers.

Oh, I see the dilemma! :) He's a handsome fellow, but imagine if he lived with you, you would be pestered all day long, every day! Better to just go visit him and let him spread his wealth of attention around, like he does now.

They do take good care of him, feeding and vet-wise, right?

The greenhouse in my neighborhood has a resident long haired calico. She is a lover too. When I go there on my handicapped scooter she will ride along with me if she gets a chance. Of course I don't discourage her till I need the space on the scooter for plants.

You can't tell by the pics but Joe has gained a lot of weight and has fat hanging from his belly, so yes, he does get cat food. He is a neutered male and obviously has had vet care in the past but he has not received any since he took up living at work.

My co-worker and I had this discussion just a week or so ago. Should he get sick or need immediate vet attention, between the two of us we would see he got to the vet.

Yes, I have considered catnapping him from time to time but I don't think he would be happy at my house. We have a houseful of cats and 2 dogs. Joe does not like dogs. Sometimes customers will bring their dogs along to walk around the nursery and he hides.

He greets customers all day and really enjoys the attention he gets. He even loves all the cat haters and tries to convert them. Seldom is he successful and there have been times when customers complain, or even shriek when he rubs against their legs. I've seen women run out of the greenhouse. :)

I meant to tell about Joe disappearing for 2 weeks!

This happened last spring. I gave my co-worker a call and asked if she had seen Joe the previous day. She hadn't. A few days later she was telling me about this customer that made a big deal over Joe saying he looked just like her cat that had disappeared, and she only lived a short distance away. Well, if he was her cat then yes, she should have put him in her car and taken him home, but she didn't tell us. We aren't even sure that happened but seemed suspicious. After worrying a couple of days, I started riding around, looking for where she could live and hoping to spot Joe, happy and healthy. No sight of him.

2 weeks and then he shows up, just like he had never been gone. I wonder if the lady had taken him and he eventually found his way back. Also, I was suspicious of my co-worker and sometimes think that she took him home and then decided he didn't fit in with her other pets. She has dogs and cats also.

One should never get so attached to an animal that doesn't belong to you.

Affectionate though they may be (on occasions of their choosing) ...

awww Moonie...what a dollbaby he is...I'm thinkin he's right where he needs to be...(if for nothing else to see a woman shriek!!...LOL)...give him an extra speshul rubbin for me tomorrow!!

he is just adorable. One of the feral kitties from the forest behind us looks just like that, I do not know if it is a male or female. We call him Boots, his front paws are just dipped in white but his back ones look more like boots and he has the white chest tuft. Boots is very scrappy and will fight off any other cat that tries to get to his food bowl where I put them food. He was the smallest and is still the smallest but no body messes with Boots LOL.

He comes the closest to us, he has actually taken a bite of food from my husbands hand then ran with it. I think if I sat out in a chair with some tasty treats I might just be able to touch him/her. As it is we admire them from a distance as they eat and drink what we put out for them.
