"her overuse of the word "ya'll"

That's what killed her for me.. Being born, bred and cast with a deep southern accent and the dialect and nuances to speak with authority... Paula's absurd use of "Y'all" is embarrasing.

I like Paula,,,have never seen her fix many things that dont look sooo good!!! I am a bit tired of the Y'all too, but what bothers me most is when she takes a big bite and talks with her mouth part open...ick!

With so much obesity, heart disease and strokes here in the US, I just cannot watch her program. Does she ever make anything without buttah and cream and sugah?
And her affected Southern speech makes me ill.

Mute the tv and turn the captioning on! Its not as bad as listening to her believe me!

My daughter had a friend from the south who was quite insulted when we said he didn't have a southern accent, indicating he wasn't trailer trash.

I don't watch her...but does she say oil so it rhymes with "coal" ?

My last name rhymes with oil and most southern say it like coal.

I agree with you Koda04, I can't take too much of her laugh. She's always dressed as a witch for Halloween specials so the food network must feel the same way LOL

Madtv or Saturday night live did a sketch about her where she was deep frying sticks of butter.

She strikes me as a happy, warm and energetic gal who has discovered that she can make real money and enrich her family. I like her. I don't watch her though and have seen just a few shows.

I can't STAND Paula and her psuedo southern cooking but Jenny is completely taken by her! When in Savannah we had to go to her spot (buffet) and she's got her books.. blah blah blah..

The problem with MY wife is that she selectively notices the good in people and tosses out the bad..... It's a fault of hers...

She can't be in the GREEN HAT group....

I don't have cable or satellite so I don't have to see her much but the few times I saw her, she nauseated me so much. I did get a chuckle out of her deep-fried, breaded macaroni & cheese though! And watching her pack it away was amusing.

And my Texican uncle always rhymed oil with coal...

I cashiered at Wal~mart for 4 years as a part time job. I honestly have to say she was a major part of the decision to quit. After hearing her on the TV monitors every 30 minutes with her Ya'll, and her oial, and her other drilling into your brain phrases, I had enough. That and the fruits singing about how they love their underwear.....

Carol, a lot of people from Savannah sound like Paula. It's real, not affected.

DH's family grew up in Statesboro--not far from Savannah--and they sure say "y'all" a lot. BUT--not every two seconds like Paula seems to. I like her a lot, but lately her recipes are definitely not all that southern. And we really don't deep fry everything. Yesterday she made a turkey dressing with Hawaiian bread and dried cranberries. That ain't southern, y'all!!!!

Paula makes me laugh! I don't watch her very often so I guess she doesn't bother me either. I'd weigh 500lbs if I cooked like she does. omg the calories.
If we all had as much fun as she seems to have and all her bucks, we wouldn't have so much fun complaining.

Did anyone see SNL last night? Debbie Downer, y'all,she is soooo funny! I love the expressions on her face when she complains. Lindsey Lohan and the crew were hallarious!

I saw her on a special about her life. She was calm, mild mannered and talked softly. I think that is how she is in real life. When she isn't "on stage" with the cooking shows. She also said in that interview and in several others, that her recipes are over the top on purpose. It is her thing, but she doesn't eat like that everyday. She doesn't cook that much for herself either. Her husband does alot of cooking also and she said that they do eat reg normal, healthy food most of the time. But since she is known for the deep fried, over the top foods, that is what she makes alot of on the show. I did like her on her specials, she truly loves her family and takes very good care of those that work for/with her. I do not watch her cooking shows though cause she does drive me crazy with the oil and y'all. And the over the top laugh. But as a person, I do like her very much.

I think she is cute, but I am NOT going to cook or eat any of her recipes. :o)

My gf begged me to go with her to her local publix where Paula was puttin on a show...the cost...215.00...I said NO THANKS...that 215.00 would buy a whole lotta groceries! She's definitely found a niche and is milkin it to the hilt!

On TV - for free (if you can stand her recipes) ... her talk (including all of those "Y'all"s). Plus all of those commercials!

(Sometimes "free" comes at a price!).

But I'd be keeping the $215.00 in my jeans.
