I just looked up the bio of our local forecaster. He's not a meteorologist! He's hosted game shows, disco dancing shows, even hosted the David Letterman show as a substitute host. He's been a disc jockey too, but he doesn't have a degree in the science of meteorology. Apparently he does write his own forecasts. Arktrees, you wrote: TV personalities who's primary job most of the time is to get viewers........ You are so right! I've never paid serious attention to forecasts before this year, but now that I have I can see, at least from my forecaster, it's all about hype. It could be a simple cold front moving through, but the way he describes it you'd think aliens were invading.

We had beautiful weather yesterday into the lower 50's..then went down to 30's last night and now we are getting between 2-4" of snow today.and our temp just keeps droppin. Supposed to get into the 50's again for the weekend!! yay!! Theresa, I don't know if that critter had a name? Wonder if we have that movie..man, I havent seen that in ages.

7thLegend, expecting 60 degrees and sunny here for the Superbowl. LOL! Not as cold in February as it used to be though. We will see. Don't place much belief in the Farmer's Almanac. Do they ever predict anything but cold and snowy for the Northeast in February?! As for the hurricane forecast, this certainly has been a very, very strange season! Was expected to very bad, but abnormally quiet! Probably one of he strangest seasons I can remember. Don't know what to make of it.--May be a very late season. Like X-Mas storms?! We had ours late last year--October 31st, name of Sandy.

I know I live in the past, but my favorite look was "coppertone" appliances, that dark brown from the 60s. It was when Harvest Gold, Coppertone and Avocado were the big three styles. These days with the look of white, especially coupled with oak finished cabinets just screams Habitat for Humanity. I prefer almond, which morphed to bisque. White may be "timeless" but almond doesn't show the dirt, scratches and stains and is more neutral than white for most applications. If I had a choice, I'd choose black for appliances and gray for counters with a light color walls. Classy looking to me. But it all doesn't matter if the appliances don't work. BTW, my 30 year old washer is avocado, which is one of the reasons I got a discount on it! Nobody wanted that color. Sales lady asked if I minded the color and I said I don't mind if the mice and cockroaches don't mind. It's going in the basement. To far too many, looks are everything, be it people or appliances. To me form follows function in the appliances and I know a lot of beautiful people with ugly insides. And few age as well as Dick Clark.
