The OP is right, there is nothing nutritionally valuable about them and they seem pretty innocuous as a treat until you read the list of ingredients. There is a whole bunch of chemicals in there that I can't even pronounce. If I can't pronounce the ingredients and if there is more chemicals than real food in the product, I don't eat it.

Hi, Sam. Sorry, I didn't think I had much to say on that thread. I saw the title of the post and assumed it was for people who "stopped" using pesticides. I never started. I realize I'm lucky that I live where serious, debilitating pests like chili thrips don't live. But I simply accept whatever damage comes -- and beginning my third year with this garden, I notice that damage is less severe than the first year. I guess that all the good stuff I throw on the soil, as well as the varied plants I picked, do their part towards attracting the "good bugs" and other critters that keep the "bad bugs" in check. Is every leaf perfect? No, but nothing is so debilitating that most of the plants (including the roses) I picked can't just grow past them -- and any that can't survive, well, simply aren't fit enough for me to grow here. When things are growing all big and intermingled, the eye is drawn toward the pretty and away from the ugly. :-) ~Christopher

Mmmmmmm...those sound good, Raven! Hubby loves shitakes, so I will keep an eye out next time we go to Costco. I will also keep in mind maifleur's experience and try to figure out a way that to store them that is airtight. Either that or we will eat them all at one sitting! Speaking of snacks, we sampled these at Costco a few weeks ago. They are delicious and if one only eats one or two a day a diet friendly treat. I like that they are certified organic and GMO free. Just as a side bit of interest, this produce is made in Canada. I mention it, because I don't see these types of products from Canada very often. After a while, they do tend to start turning into large crumbs at the bottom of the bag, but I found that dumped in a bowl with some milk added, they make great cold cereal. Win, win!
