Anyone else already OD'd on holiday music?

The ONLY radio station I can pick up at the office has been playing it 24/7 since Thanksgiving. I'm so sick of it I could rip my ears off. I don't mind one thrown in there every now and again, or on Christmas Eve or morning.

But, give me a break already!

Can you bring in a CD? I agree I don't like it all the time. BUT, last year I picked a station from Canada (we are near the border) and they were playing holiday music from around the world and it was so neat. Any one in Canada know which one that was. And they never played the same one twice.

I agree. It's too early to my way of thinking. One station here started 2 wks. ago & they've done that for a few yrs. now, supposedly because of requests that they start playing it early. That's a little too early.

I love both of my MILs. My first DH died when he was 45. He was my best friend and a marvelous husband and father. My first MIL stopped talking to me when I remarried but I kept pursuing a relationship with her because of my children. After five years or so she came around and has been part of our lives since. I just visited with her today at the nursing home she is in to make arrangements for her getting her hair done and arranging with her care takers to have her ready to join us for Thanksgiving. She is no longer able to ambulate but my DSIL will be able to get her into their car and fit her wheelchair in and when they get to our house there will be enough young men there to get her in the house. My newest DMIL & DFIL, (18 years with my DH compared to 22 years with my first DH) will also be there as always. They all get along well and my DH knows I will do the same for his parents if they have to go into assisted or skilled nursing care. I count my blessings that I have had the honor of two sets of in laws. WTBS, my son can be a real stinker at the holidays but at least he still comes!

Pqsmom, I'm so happy you love your Buckingham! I can't wait for mine. I'm still not 100% at ease, but doing better. There have been a few snags (what a surprise since that never happens right?). For example in spite of asking the owner of the cabinet shop about 7 times if she was sure she had made the trash cabinet big enough since I thought the Rev A Shelf website saying the opening had to be 15" meant it needed a 16.5" cabinet, she repeatedly stated her specs said a 16" would be fine. Well, installer agreed with me since the trash didn't fit. Now they are going to have to re-cut that cabinet, adjust some stuff and re-order the door. They also sort of forgot to make the fridge cabinet or order the doors for it. Whoops. Anyway in spite of those and a couple other issues, they were still able to come out to template so at least the mistakes won't mean I have to wait even longer for my Buckingham - just as long as it takes to re-cut and install the messed up cabinets. I found the templating interesting since it sort of looked like two grown men doing a big arts and craft project, using plywood boards instead of toothpicks! But maybe that's just the renovation insanity setting in.

I bought two as gifts. One for my DS #1 and one for DS #3's girlfriend. DS loves his and has it sitting on the kitchen counter, but plans to take it to his office after the holidays. DIL loves it and wants to keep it at home, LOL. His has an internal memory. So you put the memory stick in and it loads to the frame. The one I got for the girlfriend doesn't have an internal memory. So the card has to stay in the frame. They are really cool!

Carol, to your point it is interesting that Trump has not responded to any of this re. his son, particularly since given his penchant for ferociously fighting back at any perceived insult or criticism one might think he would be quick to jump on this. I googled the topic after reading about it here and also interestingly several sources mentioned that Melania Trump-not Donald Trump-is threatening to sue over allegations of autism. Sometimes it's what isn't said that can be as or more revealing than what is. Here's my completely baseless gossip fueled thought: wonder what the family dynamics are really like in the Trump clan? The three oldest children have been fairly vocal about how deeply upsetting the divorce between their parents was. The 'middle' daughter was the product of a brief marriage which began as a highly publicized extramarital affair and was raised by most accounts primarily by her mother post-divorce. And then there is the 3rd wife who has a somewhat hazy background, a past as a racy lingerie model and who has produced a child who may or may not have some type of developmental issues but who is indisputably part of a family dynamic that is complicated to say the least. Would have given a lot of have a secret camera attached to the Mar-a-Lago gravy boat at this Thanksgiving holiday gathering LOL.

First one I heard was in a store the day after Halloween. Thought it was ridiculous and most unwelcomed since I knew their reason for playing it. I've always heard Christmas music from Thanksgiving on and really think that is the right time. I could never get enough of it.

Dh hates it because every year they pipe it in at work so they have no choice but to listen to it! I love it so he gets it at work and at home...I give him a break in the car! I only listen to it while on the computer or cleaning...which is 90% of my time! I even watched the Celtic Womens Christmas show from Dublin the other night on TV, he just rolls his eyes and leaves the room...LOL....poor guy!

Out here in the country, we only get one FM Station and that is the local Station. All Country Western....I'm sure I will hear "Grandma got Ran over by a Reindeer" any minute.

While I do love the Christmas music, I don't like it to be every song 24/7 from Halloween on. I hate that my favorite station does the 24/7. I switch stations until I find something else playing. I think a couple weeks before is in plenty of time to get in the mood. If I want more, I'll play my own favorite CD's.

nope! i've been listening on digital cable music channels for a month now, xm for 2 weeks atleast and i just bought a few new cd's this past weekend LOL. man i'd kill for music at work, even if it had to be country ~ liz

One of our local staions started playing 24/7 holiday music 11/1. I liked it at first but there is not enough rotation. It's the same songs over and over by the same artist. There are a lot more holiday songs than just the 30 or so they keep playing over and over and over................

Even the pop XM radio channel I listen to throws in a Christmas song now and then. I think this is the first year they've done that - they already have XM channels that play ONLY Christmas music, so I don't get it. Wouldn't I just tune to that channel if I wanted to hear Christmas music already??

No, I haven't OD'd. I love Christmas music!!! But I don't listen to it all the time. My favorite radio station doesn't play it and I only listen to the radio when I'm in my car anyway. We don't have it playing at work either, so I really only listen to it when I want to.

I agree with you, Ang. Because of music and commercials are so overdone, it does take much of the joy out of the season for me.
