Owie, Well, it must be nice to stay warmer than the forecast. That only happens here in August. LOL Have fun with your new Min-Max thermometer and keep us entertained with your annal details of every temperature change. LOL Randy, I bet the plants are whispering excitedly to one another and asking themselves who gets to go first when the slow exodus begins. : ) After tonight, the 40s pretty much go away for us and we're looking at 50s/70s which is some of my favorite weather. As for rain, let it rain, let it rain, let it rain! Summer will be here all too soon and we'll forget what rain is. Should we start taking bets on whether or not the spring rains are going to flood your creek area again? That seems to have happened a lot the last couple of years. Dawn

My 2 sons went last night and because of the long rain delay and late start they didn't get back home until 3 a.m. But the game was so exciting and they had a great time that they didn't complain - well they did mention how cold it was but if they had listened to me they would have been warmly dressed.

Hi everyone. My trees survived the lower temperatures last night but it didn't get to freezing as forecast although there was some snow only a few miles and minutes away. Tonight the forecast is low to mid 30's again but I am hoping it will not happen and the next few day temperatures are supposed to be in the high 70s, maybe even 80s. My trees' leaves were limp at 6:30 am but the temperature rose quickly to the mid 40's before I had to leave town for the day. I did water all the trees with warm water. I also had to repot one that blew over in the wind that I had not have time to tie to stakes. I thought its location was more protected than it actually is. When I got home tonight all the limp leaves seem to be fine and no longer limp, but it was dark by then and I was looking with light from within the nearby greenhouse. I plan to water with warm water again tomorrow morning as the trees are in early morning sunlight. I see in the forecast there is another cold spell about a week out but maybe that will change as there are several warm days in a row coming up. I think the warm water helped. Oh yeah, I LOVED it, we called it "creamed chipped beef". On buttered toast made with Grandma's homemade bread, it was wonderful. It was originally made with those little glass jars of dried beef, and yes, we reused the jars as drinking glasses and as containers to dip our paintbrushes in when we were painting with those watercolor paint sets. Later Grandma started buying the Buddig beef in packages, two for a dollar, because they were less salty. It was a meal that used up our excess milk when we still had a milk cow. She also made sausage gravy although we had it with mashed potatoes, never with biscuits. She also made "burnt flour gravy" with the bacon grease, some browned flour and milk. Served over anything you wanted, from potatoes to meatloaf to pasties. Probably not so healthy...(grin) Annie
