I remember it clearly. I was at Sears shopping around Christmas time with my mom. There is was..............a Shawn Cassidy t-shirt with matching bell bottom pants. His face was pictured on the shirt and on the bell of the pants. I wore it everyday i could.

Stone-washed jeans that I tight rolled on the bottom.

Hypercolor t-shirts (who thought THOSE were a good idea?)

The best/worst thing I ever owned: spandex shorts that were hot pink, baby blue, and neon green. I probably wore them with my New Kids t-shirts and my hot pink and black hi-top LA Gear shoes. hahahahaha!

My cocktail dress that featured yellow chiffon over gold sequin trimmed hotpants. Circa very late 1969-1971.

In junior high, fluorescent colors had just hit the scene for clothing. I talked my mother into a fluorescent orange tent dress ... polyester, of course. I was a scrawny thing, and the dress was actually way too big for me, then you add excess material to make it tent real good. MAN, that was hideous. But I loved it.

I still tend to wear what I like vs. what looks good on me.

I too wore fluorescent orange in junior high. Orange knee high socks, orange poorboy shirt and orange and brown A-frame skirt. I absolutely LOVED this outfit and wore it as often as possible... ewwwww.

I didn't wear this but back when my daughter was in 6th grade, my dear sister-in-law was really into crafts and painting. She took a dishtowel and made a collar thing out of it and had painted a Christmas scene on it and gave it to DD, who wore it to school. We look at it now and laugh and DD says "Ya'll let me wear a DISHTOWEL around my neck to school???"

ROFLMBO at all the mental pictures I'm getting from these posts. How about mid to late 70's, standing on a playground pulling recess duty, wearing, get this, strappy black leather pumps and SOCKS with jeans!!?? I know...I know... LOL

Haha!! You guys are goofy!! LOL The Dishtowel around the neck has to be the worst though. Hope she didn't wear it on picture day! ROFLOL

Every day is a fashionable question day. Do I dress to feed the chickens and sheep and muck around in the garden, or do I dress for housework? I got called for jury duty and being old enough to know you dress nice for court, I found I didn't have ONE shirt that didn't have writing on it!! Hmmmm, had to rethink that wardrobe. I shouldn't have bothered. One guy came in looking like he just slopped the hogs, others were in ratty t-shirts and/or holey jeans and/or sandals, as in rubber flip flops.

I have a tent dress from the 60's. Have not worn it in years,but it's in my closet. I have a pair of leggings I bought in the 80's i currently wear under slacks in the winter time.

Oh my, where do I start? Well, in high school, I was a preppy, but there was this one time that I bought a see-through yellow shirt and a pair of yellow super lowrider pants. What WAS I thinking?

Then there was that hippie period when my pants had about 1000 patches on them, and we actually had a contest to see who had the least amount of denim showing on their jeans. I won. Only 24 square inches of denim showing. All the rest was patches. With those jeans I usually wore a halter top made from one of those round metallic necklace rings with a big biker handkerchief folded in half and sewed onto the necklace and tied in the back. Yes, quite a lot of me showed, but I was 19.

And the 70' was disco, disco, disco!!! 'Nuff said.

By the 80's, I was back into my conservative preppy style, although I did have some t-shirts with logos and slogans, but nothing raunchy. I'm still sort of preppy, I guess. Jeans, khakis, tees, tailored shirts when I'm out. I'm sort of a slouch around the house.

I had one of those too! Mine was made from a flowery scarf that had belonged to my grandma though!!

Did you take disco lessons too? Those were the only dance lessons I've ever taken. Unfortunately my dance partner was my brother. :-) We did have fun at the Under 21 clubs though.

My mother made me a pair of red/black/yellow plaid pants with a matching vest. And I actually learned to like them! Ugh!!!!

Oh the 70s!

I had a long jeans skirt made from worn levis, with the front and back center wedge panels made from an old quilt of my grandmother's. I wore it with lavender suede high platform sandals with ankle straps (only hookers would wear them now). And a halter top. And huge hoop earrings. In fact the whole getup (except that the skirt was long) was very slutty, which really wasn't my intent.

I crocheted tiny bikinis, too, and actually wore them at the beach. What was I thinking!!!

When I was 13 I made an orange tent dress with brown trim -- I looked like such a dork!

Levi cord pants and Hang 10 t-shirts -- when girls could finally wear pants to school.

In the 80's I had a pair of high heel purple knee high boots I just loved...I finally got rid of them about 5 years ago, although I hadn't worn them for years.

Love having tent dresses in 1967 I was pregnant that year with DD so saved some $$ on maternity wear.

I went through a period in my teenaged years where I wore nothing but jeans and an army jacket. Even slept in them.

Early 70's. A boyfriend gave me a t-shirt for my 16th birthday with a goofy looking guy on it, very cartoonish, he was walking at you and had a HUGE foot in the front (perspective) smoking a giant doobie and it said "Keep on truckin'". lolol I loved that t-shirt and wore it to school and everywhere. I can't believe no one ever said anything to me about it.

And in the late 60's, I remember wearing dickies. Those fake turtleneck things, you know? They showed under the shirt, and would ride up and just generally look really tacky. I loved 'em. lololol

I remember as a teenager in the early 70's I had a pair of purple boots that came to just above the ankle. They had black fake fur around the top and I thought they were just the best things. I wore them all the time - it was a joke in my family that I would need an operation to get them off. I wore them so much and was devastated when they wore out. Looking back, they were quite hideous, but I thought I looked great and loved them.

I AM a fashion disaster!! I wear scrubs to work so that is a no brainer. I have some church clothes but my daughter often gets on me about wearing the same outfit two Sundays in a row!! Hey I don't remember what I wore last Sunday. She tries not to say anything but I see the looks. As long as my nakedness is covered I am happy. Do I have any sisters out there?

In the dark ages ( just ask my kids) I wore crop tops and hip hugger jeans so tight you had to lay on the bed to zip them closed..eeeeeeeeeewwwww Kathy

Yes, everything from the 70's! Some of my "dresses" wound up in my DD's costume/dressup collection. They still can't believe how short they were!!! I remember my '73 graduation party dress was a light blue flowered baby doll dress . . . that came with matching panties!!!!!! And they showed!!!!! AGGGGGHHHHH, the horrors.

I kept bleaching my jeans to fade them...only to go rock climbing with a boyfriend and my jeans ripped off in the butt right in his face. Geez! I was embarrassed, He imediately tied his jacket around my waist. What a gentlemen.

pixiestix...I had a purple snakeskin pring mini with matching panties that I wore with a pair of those black vinyl tie up boots.

I can't believe I actually thought that looked good. I also had a pair of the long one piece big leg pantsuits that was made of some sort of shiny purple material. It looked like loungewear! I loved it!

Does anyone remember pilgrim pumps and those dresses with the huge pilgrim collars? I think it was about 1969?

i remember everyyear from 8th grade on...BASS shoes WERE THE THING to wear...one year it was loafers...the next year weejuns that tied, the next year tied, with a flap over the tie and a small chunky heel, the next year wing tips for girls, the next year a buckled shoe...the next year these clodhopper things...

I remember see thru shirts, that came with a vest and skirt that matched...

My sophmore year of high school we were finally allowed to wear jeans and this thrift store in town was THE place to buy them, they were 1.75 each and you added at the bottom a two inch wide band of some funky looking thing...worn with a baby doll shirt of course...WE WERE STYLIN!!

SHAG Haircuts were popular when i was in high school,one year though, I think it was 8th grade we all wore these wigs...it was something you could just shake, throw it on and voila, your hair was done! we all wore platform shoes to graduation, like a one inch platform and a 3 inch heel...goodness...I'd fall down trying to walk in those things now!!

Remember elephant leg pants, palozzo pants, goucho pants???

I still have my shiny silver jacket I wore with rolled up jeans and high heeled boots...talk about looking like a streetwalker!

I was a child of the 80's. Big hair. Big clothes. Big make-up. Add the fact that I was also punk, and boy! Do you have fashion fun ;). I look at pictures of the huge tops and skinny pants (which made us look like bowling balls on stilts - NOT the effect we wanted) and think "why didn't somebody save us from ourselves????". See, when you wear a big top and skinny pants and look down, all you see is flat fabric and thin legs. Allriiiiight, one thinks. This makes me look real SLIM. Yeah. But only from THAT angle. If only you can convince your date to look at you only from above (say, standing on a chair. Or a different floor and peer over the balcony?) ROFLMAO!

And harem pants. For heavens sake! Talk about pear shaped. I don't think anyone ever looked good in them. But we loved them. They were cheap and comfy and wore forever LOL.

My favourite look however, was a pair of black spandex with yellow racing stripes, a shirt that was more rip than shirt and covered in chains and leather bits, makeup remniscent of a parrot colliding with my face, and remember Cindy Lauper's hair? Checkerboard shaved in the sides, sticky out parts and long parts here and there? Bright red and coloured in streaks of blue, green, and pink? You betcha! Two inch long nails with paintings and adornments, and for shoes either my ankle boots with spike heels or my faves - bowling shoes painted black.

My skirts were either floor length or short enough to be worn as belts. I loved "vintage" clothing pieces as well. I used to wear this mens vest (fancy, from a three piece suit) with no shirt on underneath. Or my dad's shirt from being a scout leader LOL. I also stole his funky dress shirts leftover from the late 70's. There was this one with an odd pinkish pattern all over, so well worn it was practically see through. I wore that until it fell apart. And a hideous polyester thing with a dark pattern of pheasants and such (like an old plate LOL). It was so hideous I had to have it and wear it - I know I have a problem.

I like to think that I was always just ahead of my time. Each one of my phases has come through again, just not when I chose to be in them at the time LOL.

I also wore beaded or velvet collars with collarless sweaters. Some had pompoms at the end of the ties. We wore a lot of scarves around the neck back then too.

The most garish T-Shirt I ever wore was one my first DH had made for us back in the 60's. We had a 1960 Corvette. The T-Shirts had a Corvette on them and above the car was printed. "Wrap your ass in fiberglass, buy a Vette." I loved that shirt! I think I only got rid of it about 5 years ago.
