New stove, need help. Long

We were giving our old 4 element electric stove a real good cleaning, changing the baking element and adjusting the door this weekend. Everything was going good until the door, we tried and tried to get it off and just couldn't. It's lopsided and I lose heat. Hubby got on the floor and was trying to see the underside to determine why we couldn't get it off it's hinges. He gave it one last pull and boom, the glass on the door shattered into a million pieces, so unexpected. Poor hubby was stunned and covered in glass. If that wasn't enough we decided to run and get a new stove, I hadn't wanted to do this for another year or so and at that time we wanted to switch to gas and get me an AGA which has been my hearts desire for years. We went to 8 stores on Saturday, electric element stoves are a dying breed. I didn't realize it. We ended up having to go with this electric ceramic glass top? The nice thing about it was that it's 6.4 cubic foot which is great, has 3 racks, one split, 5 burners, one of which is a dual element. The bad thing, I don't know how to use it and it won't arrive until Tuesday. I have 35-40 people coming on Friday. Here's my challenge, do I have to get all new pots and pans as well? I certainly don't want to scratch this thing. I use allot of cast iron especially here in the winter months. My guess is since it's "flat" I really need to have pans that are "flat" to get the maximum benefit. Should I look at Calphalon, I really like three ply, not much of a stainless steel fan so I'd like to stick with something else. If you have one of these stoves, can you please help me to figure this out. I basically will have Tuesday afternoon to get used to cooking with this before I have to cook all day on Thursday for Friday's dinner.
Thank you,
