Just plain old Allie and Maggie.

My last dog was named JD. We got her at the Humane society. Someone had brought her in after hours and tied her to the fence. (It was below freezing). there she stayed until they opened in the morning and they say the rope around her neck was so tight, they could hardly cut it off with scissors. JD stood for Jane Doe since no one knew her name. My present dog is Georgy Girl as in the movie and song. She came from Georgia.

I'm Italian, so we've usually give our pets Italian names, current one is Dino, others were Lorenzo, Sophia, and Gina. I am huge Seinfeld fan so I named my previous Lab Cosmo.

I have two mini poodle mixes right now. One is called Shadow because he follows me everywhere and the other is Metoo because he also wants to be included in everything we do.

My Uncle had two weiner dogs that he called "Sooner & Carpenter"

One day I asked him why he gave his dogs such names?

He replied.."Sooner would sooner crap in the house than go outside and carpenter just runs around the house doing little odd jobs everywhere".

Our boxers are Bella and Sasha, and being southern dogs, they have middle names (I know, silly :) ) Bella's is Elizabeth, after DD2, and Sasha's is Marie, after DD3. However, also call them Lucy and Ethel (Bella is the Redhead), they act pretty clutzy some times.

Our old girl's name is Phoenix, after the mythical bird. We found her starving in the woods 13 years ago last month and she was truly reborn from the ashes of her previous existence. The new husky pup's name is Jack. He was 9 months old when we got him and knew his name already, so we didn't want to change it and it suits him well.

Names of my dogs that are at the bridge are, Cricket, Amy, Tewkee and Tinker.

And Mimi is our 8 year old shih tzu that lets us live with her...lol!

Years ago some friends took in a young stray female dog. Turned out that she was pregnant. They named her "Floozie"

We had 3 cats..... Rex, cause DH thought it was funny to give a cat a dog's name.......and it WAS funny, cause this cat turned out to be VERY dog like, played fetch and everything.
Next one was Jazzpurr, just cause I thought it was cute. We called him Jazz.
Third one was Gizmo, cause he looked like the little Mugwai thing.
I miss them still, every day.

I look after a couple of strays outside, I call the one "Bob", cause he doesn't have a tail, but on closer inspection, I think it's a she, oh well, "Bobbie" then.

The other one I call "Cookie" cause he's black and white.

Used to have 3 dachshunds, Squatty (male who squatted when he peed), Spongy (he absorbed all the attention he could get.)
The third was Penny. Actually the 2 boys started out as Davey and Bengie.
My mom suggested the names of the pekes. Sasha was the first, a rescue I had about 6 years, now Caesar, the white/cream coat reminded her of a toga.
All the dogs we've ever owned had people names in the beginning.

Right now, we have 2 inside fur baby cats...Kalley Elizabeth, Kelly Lynn and Baylee Ann (who we still call Baby Girl)...Our Red Persian, named Prince Simba of Larimer, passed away 2 years ago and my snuggler, Clancy MaGillicutty, passed away a year ago....

Let's see, since childhood here are some of the more memorable pet names.

Mike, a boxer and my first dog. Nothing special about the name really but the dog saved my life when I was under 6mos old. He lived to 16 years old. We named our son Michael in honor of wonder dog Mike (and of course just because we liked the name.)

His real name is "Harry," or Harry the Perfect, Harry Barry Bellboy (in honor of Sookie Stackhouse's telepathic friend) or Harry Boy.

Deutsch Drahthaars are normally very furry, wired haired, and sport huge, bushy eyebrows, beards, mustaches, and wild, out-of-place tufts of hair sticking out all over their bodies. Think electrified brillo pads on steriods.

About 12 years ago Wes introduced me to the breed, showed me pictures and dogs, and said he was getting one. I had a dream he brought the puppy home tucked inside his jacket, set him on the kitchen floor, and I said "There's my little 'Hairy' man."

I had this dream three times before we finally got the puppy in 2003.

Well, it was ovious that "Hairy" was one of the 10% of smoother-coated Drahthaars, so "Hairy, became "Harry."

The DD pups are named officially by the breeder and each litter has a common initial. The first liter is the "A" litter (Annie, Andy, Amedeaus, etc.) Harry was born in the 9th, or "I" litter, thus "Iacchus..."

(Not the ninth litter for his mother; they are allowed to breed only three times in their lives, but the ninth liter the kennel produced and cared for.)

Wes' dad had wanted to name Wes "Sam" but was over-ruled by Wes' mom. We had no problem picking out Sam's name.

Best name I've ever heard was by a good friend of mine who named her (now deceased) dog "Ma Barker". She was a good old dog too.

Most of my pets were named when I got them. I changed the current one. Her name was "Kitty" and no, that wouldn't do. The poor thing was so traumatized when I got her she was doing a number of crazy things. I started referring to her as the crazy cat and "El Loco Gato". After a few weeks I adapted it to Krazee Cat, or KC for short.

Our third Westie was Pip because he was nearly perfect, a prize-winner. Current one is Eliot -- just one 'l' and one 't' because he was so small when we got him from Westie Rescue that I didn't think he could carry more than five letters. We had one female we named Rosie; Westies are also known as Roseneath Terriers.

Cutest Westie names I've heard were a pair of males who were called Ralph and Norton.

Years ago I had a cat I called "Daffodil". She was brown, so I have no idea why I named her that. My neighbour would call her Burdock.

When I had to put my 14 year old cat down when I was still married to my ex-DH, my Mom wanted to plant a tree in honour of Peanut, but we already had a large maple, and no room for another tree.

We saw a cat for sale in the paper, and Mom insisted on paying for him. On the way home, I asked hubby what we should call him. He said, How about we name him after your Mom?
I said "You want to call him Norma??!?. He said NOOO, Biddy, for "The Old Biddy!" He was Biddy till he died, and Mom thought that was hilarious.

My brother had a parrot named McGruber for 20 years until HE had to go to the vet and was diagnosed with an infected egg sac, HER name is now Maggie.

I love these tails....ahhh tales. Our current cat is Buster. The gal we got him from called him Oreo. Buster is a big yellow & white marmalade tabby with circles or whirls on his sides. I don't know where she got Oreo. We once took in a kitten and called her Ellen, but from her actions and personality, she ended being called, Little Fart all of her life. Our wolf/german shepherd was called cheyanne.

Sage is not an unusual dog name. I named her with an S because we had Sam (named for Sammy Sosa) at the time.

The horses are Belle and Banjo. Belle came already named.

Banjo was named after a friends horse that I thought was just wonderful and after I named the colt she told me just how awful her Banjo was.

Since there are 4 horses (two are mine) in the field. I now yell "come on pigs" when it's time for food.

I am inheriting mom's cat named Chesney (after Kenny). He is still in her house and will be until spring. He should have been named Evil.

Ours are: Scooby Doo, Harley, Casper, Ozzie (we lost Harriet), Thumper, Sophie, Chaka and Cheech and chong. We lost Barney fife in May. All of ours are cats.

We have one 15 year old dog left named Jackson, Jack for short.. Other dogs over the years were named Cole, Ben, Bear and Charlie. We had birds named Sky, Louie and Louie the 2nd. A ferret named Maxwell (Max for short) Two rabbits named Wiggles and Shakes. A gold fish from the carnaval named Lucky. Hermit crabs who I don't think ever got names, haha.

Tucker, aka Tuckeroo; Ajax, aka Jaxie, and Raia, apparently an African (?) word for "friend". They are all Boston Terriers. Raia is my daughter's dog, Tucky and Jax are ours. Tucker was a sort of a rescue; his other family called him "Bum". Their child couldn't say "Bud". Our vet agreed that Tucker was a bit more dignified than Bum *LOL*

A few years ago, we had "Radar" who was named after Radar O'Reilly on MASH because our Radar would carry a teddy bear around everywhere. When we lost Radar, we prayed that he would send us a good replacement and the very next day, we were asked to care for a boxer puppy. We took her in and named her "Akaia" which means "Sent to heal". She's been an amazing dog. Now we added a Jack Russell-Yorkie mix to the bunch who was adopted several times and returned to the shelter and was about to be euthanized. We took him in and named him, "Loki" who is known to be a Norse god of Mischief. It fits him perfectly, as he is a stinker but we love him and he's here to stay.

When I got my kittens they were only about 3 weeks old. The one male tried so hard to be fierce I named him King.
He also is known now as The Big Guy or Bruiser.
My little girl is so nosey, she followed me everywhere...so of course she is Shadow. She is also Missy, Miss Thing, Sissy, or Sweetie,
My baby boy is missing a back leg...the name Lucky just stuck. But he has the most nicknames of all....Scooter, Bubba, Bubby, Punkin', Wooter...he knows when I am talking to him.

I have had doxies all my life and when I was a child, my mom and I had two and hers was named Stretch and mine was named Slinky. (he loved to chase my slinky going down the steps too, lol) We had a Rosy at one time. Now I have a Dixie (not original, but my husband named her) and a Candy (which we inherited from my daughter when she could not keep her) I rather liked my doggie names ;-) but doesn't everyone like the names they give their dogs? LOL

I have cats named Gidget (she has always been tiny), Peggy Sue and Mango. Mango's name was Lola when I got her but I changed it because I love mangos and she is orange. My mini Schnauzer had been called Gwen at the rescue place but I named her Lila. There is another Lila in my neighborhood.

One Spring, a friend got an Irish setter and named her April May. My daughter always named our pets. We had a poodle she named Spiro Agnew, but later changed it to Spooky. Then we had a husky-spitz she named Rachael and a hamster around the same time was named Jamie. If anyone remembers the soap opera "Another World", Rachael and Jamie were mother/son characters on that show. Parakeets were Sugar and Spice. A turtle was named "Yurtle" (as in a Dr. Seuss book).

Oh, Diana, he is. He's been the absolute best companion for all these years. When my husband became ill with pancreatic cancer and for two weeks before he passed away, this baby had to be forced to leave his side. He didn't want to eat or drink or anything. It was so sad to watch. Even today, if Harley sees a white pickup truck, he stops what he's doing and looks, just in case it's 'Daddy'.

Jas, his mama was a Springer Spaniel (thus, the floppy ears) and his daddy was a Border Collie (thus, his coloring). The owner bred these two breeds on purpose) - both breeds have wonderful personalities and are very easy to train. The litter consisted of 5 females and 1 male, all adopted before they were born! We took him from his mama when he was 6 weeks old and 6 pounds. At his younger age, he weighed 75+ pounds, but with his advanced age, he now weighs about 60 pounds.

One of Lauren's dog's at her dad's house is Megatron...can't remember the other but it's got an odd name too.

We might need to rename Jack, the husky pup, Spud. He just came through the dog door from the back yard carrying an unopened 5 lb. bag of potatoes. He must have taken them out of the bowl on the counter and outside while we were at work. He is getting too tall and can reach everything. BTW, today is his birthday -- he's now a 1year old!
