Are people so insane?

Apparently.

I have a theory...people are devolving! I have never seen such idiots...how about those organized gangs of mall crashers...assembled via Twitter? That's really smart(NOT!)...I told my husband..boy that really makes humans look like idiots doesn't it. They should be ashamed of themselves for acting like complete morons! UGH!

The insanity of all of this has many implications:

1. People buy more than they can afford because it is on sale. I saw a man on the news who walked out of a box store bragging that he bought 4 televisions. You don't save money if you spend it. That's alot of paychecks. Also we should learn by the example that people were scammed into buying houses they could not afford. The mindset of having everything should have changed after that.

2. This new greed on both sides (the buyer and the seller) factures the traditions at home. It used to be pe the cook scheduled meals around football many times. I gladly do that.

Now the get together has an added component of people choosing to skip the family dinner or go to sleep so they can make the midnight camp out.

I would be very sad if my family chose camping out over being with each other. I know othey would regret it later.

And are these folks who have been stimulated by this buying for others or for themselves? Are the moms buying too much for Christmas because it is on sale?

It's just nutty and there has been too much hype about it this year. I cannot imagine anything I would rather do less than be out in those crazy crowds.

Remember the old days? The big sale was on December 26. My dear mother and I used to love to go to the after-Christmas sales. The stores were busy, but no one got trampled or pepper-sprayed. She would be so surprised to know about this Black Friday madness.

I do my shopping after Christmas and January for the next year. I am not a black Friday kind of girl. I am not a follower, I like being independent of the crowd. There are sooo many bargains I find. Housewares, clothing, you name it. I like finding bargains in different places than the norm, and I do....every time!! Ha, ha..it is sooo fun~~ don't have to go to these so called sales. Someone told me I ought to write a book, that I had a gift for finding bargains..nope, not really!
This past July I went to a sidewalk sale in July at a outlet mall and bought beautiful sweaters and awesome coats for my grands and sister in laws, brother in laws, husband for 5 dollars for sweaters,that some normally cost upward to 75.00 to 100.00. Coats, some were 30.00 or not much more, that cost several hundred dollars. My relatives always think I spend a fortune...I never tell them. Probably would not mean as much if I did. I enjoy giving and this is the only way I can do it. I do not have a rich man's pocket book. So I have to beat the bushes, sort of speak, to be able to give, and find those bargains. But I am not going on black friday...I am much too old and arthritic to be trampled to death!

Rudeness, greed and entitlement. This is in keeping with the season? We buy very little for the holidays and I am glad.

No way would I go to any store today. Going to the mall this time of year and especially as we get closer to Christmas is a nightmare too. You can't find a parking space and it takes forever to get in and out. I'm doing most of my shopping on-line again.

There's a lot of causes but one that's seldom mentioned is poor parenting. These people were raised without discipline, without ethics or morals and think only of themselves. And it's embarrassing to see that so much of it is my generation and the 1/2 gen before and after that raised these selfish punks. They all need to be taken over a knee.

Ellie, Those people who buy multiple T.V.'s are buying them to resell and make a profit. One guy on T.V. yesterday said last year he made $2,000. He's been on line for two days waiting for Black Friday. A real crazy way to make a living!

I wouldn't be too harsh on
Black Friday shoppers it's the economy and buying products is keeping our stores from closing too bad our govt has so many restrains on our own companies and we have to get most products from China etc where labor is cheap and restrictions few. JMHO

I'm sick of the made in China stuff, but I don't always feel so bad for our own companies either. They got greedy too. The environmental and other restraints against them wouldn't be such restraints if they would just make a good quality product. There are still many of us willing to sprnd the money to buy those.

Anyone else planning to spend money locally on Small Business Saturday? I'm planning to take my crew to get our pictures made and then we are headed to a locally owned pizza place for dinner.

Well I did go out for black Friday but not until 9 a.m. The angry crowds are gone by then and replaced by much nicer crowds. We got the same deals that happen at midnight. The only thing we couldn't get was the electronics but we were not looking for that anyway. My daughter and I didn't spend much. We each got a shirt and a pair of shoes and a couple of other small things. I even gave a stranger my $10 coupon that I wouldn't use. She was really grateful! The only problem I had was shopping with my daughter. I couldn't get her anything for Christmas but I did make a note of all the things she was wishing for. I needed ideas and I got them.

Now there is reports of two men getting shot. Unbelievable.

Georgie, I didn't know that is what they are doing. I wonder how that works. Do people stay home and pay him a little more than his cost to save or does he sell them in a store later or on line. Well, at least he isn't stealing them and then selling them. I am awkwardly unaware. Thanks, G woman.

I read that brands like Samsung actually discount their products substantially the first of the year so it is better to wait.

Sad to say, many of the problems involved Walmart--or it seems that way on the news. Maybe Walmart should just close up for Friday instead.

CNN.com has at least 6 stories of violence at various Wal Marts today. Now I can add another one. A woman stabbed another woman in the chest tonight at the Wal Mart in Providence, RI. No sale price is worth any of this!

Sad to say but the simplicity of the spirit of Christmas (IMO) doesn't exist. It's all about "buy, buy, buy" and "get out of my way" for a lot of people.

I'm glad I don't deal with that anymore.

For me I would rather bake treats for everyone.

Keep it simple and discover the joy of the season.
