Very sad and unfortunate news
Comments (12)I'm so sorry to hear that Dan! Are they YOUR martin housing? My neighbor is just too arrogant and now he has Starlings in his trio! They're using an extended compartment and I suggested to him buy the trap for both HOSP AND Starlings, but he hesitated and said maybe try plugging the holes. I have removed their eggs and nest MULTIPLE times. I'm going to approach him again about it but be truthful and say he likely won't get martins this year. He's the same guy who came from the city, is crazy about his lawn, and sprays within 30 ft of my boxes! Luckily haven't lost any and last year contemplated relocating to another neighbor's...but the walk is too long ( A decent walk to a HUGE field) and I want the bluebirds near me. The boxes are currently in a large field right next door on my landlord's property (who are VERY friendly people!) I had to relocate 2 years or so ago due to problems with House Wrens. Moving them into the field eliminated the problem. Anyway, when I saw something dead whilst peaking through, I opened it up with shock and just shook my head in disbelief! Just my luck! I get bed-ridden ill and my neighbor sets a trap in his PUMA house and kills an non-target bluebird. PLEASE remember to check your traps every 1 - 2 hours AT LEAST! I can't stress it enough. Every last bluebird is precious, but amazingly I still have 2 female BBs after losing 3 this year. Bad luck in my neighborhood...even though I've put a HUGE dent in the HOSP population now!...See MoreFeeling very low- sad start to the New Year
Comments (19)It is the love we have for them and the love they have for us, both without reservations, that make losing them so hard. A family member is missing disrupting our routine and leaving empty space. Now who will hear our secrets, comfort us and celebrate with us? I feel your loss and cry with you but I also know that you have a big heart with room for a new furkid. Let yourself cry and grieve and you will know the right time for an additional love. Missy will never be forgotten. If you find that you need a "kitty fix", visit an adoption center or shelter and just visit with some of the orphans. Hugs to you....See More1 very sad news-2 good news-(1 pic)
Comments (74)Thank you all so much for the kind words! For those of you who thought Jammer and I were already married....well, we were in heart. Now we are just doing the legal stuff. I have felt guilty ever since I made this post because I felt I didn't say enough about Tatum. It's just so hard to say how much she meant to all of us and how much we miss her. I have told stories here about her. She kind of reminded me of Marley in the book Marley and Me. She was soooo hyper and soooo big! She broke two of my toes on two different occasions just because she was running around me and I was barefooted. I quickly learned to always have something on my feet when around her! And when I took her on the leash, LOL, was like seeing a cartoon. Tatum trying to run and me being dragged behind! We didn't even use a typical leash, we used a horse lead rope. LOL She loved socks and we had to make sure none were laying around if she was in the room. One time she grabbed a thin black sock and then making sure she was just beyond my reach, she stared deep into my eyes and proceeded to swallow the sock. I could tell she felt so satisfied to do that. Anyway, she has left a big hole in our lives, but we have some great memories. As far as the wedding plans....we are getting married tomorrow in our church. Just Jammer, me and the preacher. I am still not feeling well and don't feel like being around people....See More@Patti43 Question about Your Peanut Butter Cookies
Comments (12)That's essentially the recipe my mother used all the time. They're great. She always used shortening. Nice and crumbly. My sister mixes butter and shortening. I usually use the butter flavored shortening. Also she never added the salt. Peanut butter generally has enough salt and if you use salted butter, that too has salt in it but use if you like. A suggestion to speed things up, just grab a bunch of the dough and roll it in your hands into a log shape about 1"-1 1/2" or however big you want them, then break off the pieces and set in the pan. Take the fork and go at them. My mother's recipe said to dip the fork in flour but I usually touch the fork to the dough then dip it in sugar. As you're breaking off pieces, usually 2-3 in the pan and one in the mouth. Love that peanut butter cookie dough!...See MoreGranlan_TX
