Voted and I was the 57th voter in my precint at 7;35 am. Huge turnouts here in Massachusetts.,!!!!

Our polls don't open until 8 AM. We'll go in a little bit. It's a tiny little polling place, if there's anyone ahead of us, I'll be shocked.

Done! Took about 10 minutes including the drive! LOL!!! I really miss getting the little receipt they used to give out, the one that told you what number voter you were at that poll. DH and I were usually in the teens somewhere.

I'll stop by the polling place when I walk the dog later this morning. I want to reread the newspaper insert about all the candidates and their positions. Some you don't hear about, mostly the unopposed in the courts. "Should so-and-so be retained as a such and such judge". Off to get breakfast, wait for the sun to come up and the day to warm up.

Here in Ma when you slip your ballot into the machine there is a number that registers what number ballot is being counted..so check there , if you have the machines.

We voted early because my husband is working and away from home today.

Of course. I have to drive my daughter to the train station this afternoon. I will drop by the polling place afterwards. There's a hotly-contested Congressional contest this year, I hope "my guy" wins. If he loses, it won't be my fault!

As soon as I'm presentable, I'm off to vote. Wes will vote on his way home from work.

We have the old-fashioned voting place at the Senior's center. The books and booths will be manned by the blue-haired crowd. They will have a "reception/welcome table" set up with home-made cookies, coffee, and fruit juice to fortify the voters.

It's such a wonderful atmosphere. As soon as I qualify, I'm going to grab the blue rinse and join them.

I will definitely be voting today. I will be so glad not to have to "mute" the tv ads. Yesterday I got 2 phone calls from my party and one person came to my door later in the day. We have early voting but it is in another town. When I see those Vote Early signs, I always say to myself "Vote early and vote often".

I walk each morning before work with a friend and we pass the clubhouse where voting takes place. We were there when they opened at 6:00am.....if it were not so cold last night, I might have slept there to be first in line.

Ballots are are stamped and ready for the mail...I didn't have time to get in on all the initiatives...so finished that up last night with Kat's help..

I'm sure there will be quite a few races and initiatives that won't have results for a week or better.

I went bright and early this morning, and was #2 in line. Only to be told, once they officially opened, that my polling place had been changed. (I didn't read the notice sent out three weeks ago, thought it was just stating the places you could go do early voting.)

So I drove five more miles AWAY (through town and out the other side) to my new location and fortunately had a very short wait. I'll be fussing about why they moved my location farther away from home!

When I finally got to hit the highway to come to work, there were backups in every single direction ... it took over an hour to get here. *sigh*

Going as soon as Harry gets up from his nap and showers. I love to vote on election day. We voted early last year and it was like having the turkey a week before Thanksgiving. It was convenient though. According to our paper 38% of the registered voters in our 55+ community have already voted.

We voted this morning. Voter turnout seemed very light in our precinct, but we live in a workingclass neighborhood and I'm hoping many more will vote after they get off work.

I have never, NEVER, been asked for ID and it really concerns me! Today the gal tried to have me sign for the wrong person!

Connie, I wish they would require an ID for voteing here. There was NO proof, just finding your name on the list. That is always very disappointing to me.

We voted 2 1/2 hours after they opened, and I was voter # 154. I heard one of the LOL "blue Ladies" tell someone that there were over 1000 registered voters in that pricinct.

We like to sit up late and watch the returns, so I am making grazing foods for this evening. I think I need a nap this afternoon.

I rolled on in, in my bright red wheelchair(as my niece says thats how I roll red hot and sporty LOL), and handed her my ID and voter registration card, I made her take both, she then gave me back the ID and said she only needed one.
They only had one chair height machine so I had to wait for one person to finish to cast my vote, done and gone in less than 10 mins. Luckily the weather has cleared up, it was storming bad last night and was supposed to be today also. I was worried that would prevent some from going out.

I voted about 7:45 this morning. Not many there yet. I was a little surprised. They're estimating about 62% turnout and often it's very busy in the mornings - people hit the polls on their way to work. I thought if it was a line I'd just stop by later. I did my duty as I always do.

I miss our old small town in California, voting in the Veterans Building....getting to see the town-folk (many immigrants from the Azores proudly participating). Here in Oregon, we vote by mail or dropping off our voted envelopes. Did that, and hope for a good turn out! Nanny

We have had a huge turnout here in Indiana. We have to show ID here. I like that. I can't imagine anyone objecting to doing this.

I voted this afternoon and was number 235. In and out in no time. I did have to fill out a form and sign it stating I am who I am. I don't remember doing that before but the poll workers told me it has always been that way. I think I must have voted absentee last time.
One thing I really like about Iowa ballots is that up at the top of the ballot you can opt to vote a straight party ticket just by filling out one bubble. I still remember the wise words of my dad the first time I voted almost 50 years ago. He advised me to vote a straight party ticket and that is what I advised my DS to do when he started voting.

It's a bit far to the nearest border crossing ...

... and I doubt that I could find a list with my name on it.

Having been operational (and a bit young for combat) when World War II started in 1939, so rather keenly aware of the threats to freedom and democracy at that time, I am distressed at the low turnouts at voting time.

Seems to me that those who " ... don't bother" ... are more or less spitting on the graves of the thousands/millions who died then to preserve those values.

I voted around noon and didn't have to wait. We usually vote early, but we went to California, and then I came home sick, so it's today. It's the first time EVER I have voted a straight ticket.

I voted. They do not ask for my ID - I wish they would though. I also do not ever vote straight party mainly though because of the local contests. I know that with the locals it has little to do with the party(at least in my small town.) For example the sheriff's race - I voted for the incumbent but I don't normally vote for his party. I just think the guy is good and that's why I voted for him.

In our town they have four voting precincts(sp) and three were assigned the same polling station. So the parking was horrible, Then you had to find out what line to be in and they did not have enough voting booths or pens so you had to just stand where you could and use your own pen. It has been an hour to hour & a half wait just to get to the front of the line--in all three lines.

Moreover they were NOT checking ID's so a woman was talking of voting twice, once in her maiden name and once in her married name. She said she's filled the correction paperwork repeatedly for two years and gave up.

They ask for IDs here. I think they should do it everywhere.
