If you could have a 2 week vacation anywhere in the world...

Where would you go?

I would go to Bora Bora and stay in the most private hut over the water, have our own local tour guide and just lay around whenever we want.

It's that crystal clear water that is so attractive to me!

I would love to go back to Italy.It's exciting, beautiful, filled with amazing historic places to visit and the best food anywhere.

I'd love to re-create a trip my DH and I took a couple of years ago to Europe. We spent 2 weeks traveling through london, Paris, Versailles and Rome. It was amazing!

Amy, since you only have 3 plants- why don't you give them to a friend or family member to take care of during vacation? I did pretty okay while I was gone for two weeks- I gave some plants to my co worker to take care of. The rest stayed at home and I invested in one of those automatic, battery operated watering systems- it's called Green Genius. For the most part it worked okay- only lost my mints. I gotta be honest- my plants were quite far from lush and green when I returned but at least they were alive. And, it was my first time using that thing so I didn't quite know how much water would come out, etc etc. It was also in the dead middle of summer so they really wanted a lot of water. You'll be gone right during winter, so their watering need will be significantly less. One month seems like a long time for me to leave a plant in the bath tub- so I really think you should try and find a friend/family/ co worker who can possibly keep these plants for you for the month. If not, I'd go with either a nursery or an autmatic watering system (mine cost about $50 but I go away at least twice a year so it's worth it to me)- which ever works out more cost effective for you. There are also several other automatic watering devices available out there in several price ranges. Toni for example makes her own (for her citrus I think if I remember correctly). Perhaps she can brief you better about it. Just do a search of 'automatic plant waterer' or something along those lines- that's what I did. I saw several products but since I needed to water about 15 of them- some seemed too costly. Since you have only 3 plants, I think you have more options than I did.

I would stay right where I am here in Nova Scotia. I have the ocean right in front of me, the woods behind me and only one neighbor that can see my house without binoculars. I love that I can go for long walks in the woods and not be afraid of anything more than a big black bear. I love that I can jump in the car with the neighbor kids or grandsons and be at the beach swimming at a nice sandy beach within 15 minutes. I can walk down my lane and go to the beach to collect rocks or shells. When summer vacation time comes I always want to drive around Nova Scotia, sometimes up to Sussex, New Brunswick to go to Corn Hill Nursery, but for the most part I want to stay here. I love the trips to the Annapolis Valley and south shore, so much to see/sea. I have driven across this grand country twice by car, a long, long journey both times. Been right to Jasper in Alberta and out to Grand Cashe, beautiful area, but no ocean, gotta be near the water, it is the pisces in me I think.. Never been to the Rock, Newfoundland, but have intentions of going there someday. Flew out to Calgary last summer and was enchanted with the city, I hate cities for the most part but this place really caught my eye. My son lives there so I can see going out there again, it was a beautiful trip. If I had to change anything it would be the weather right now, bitter cold, I don't care for that. Otherwise home is where I hang my hat, I hope to be hanging my hat here for many, many more years. Just a humble little bungalow but it is my piece of heaven and my sancturary. Valerie

Tracy, I lived in Cleveland (OK) from 1990 to 92. I was working on my masters and teaching at OSU while my wife was attending med school in Tulsa. I really liked Cleveland although it was even smaller back then. I so enjoyed the amazing pelican migration through the lake in Sept and seeing the bald eagles, etc. If it had been 30 minutes closer to my family's pecan farm, we would be living there today. We lived in the DFW metroplex (mostly Mansfield) for 10 years and we moved back here after that. We could have chosen any place to buy land and build a house and some of the finalists were Perkins, Chandler, Purcell, and a few places around Tulsa. In the end I had to have a place where there was more rainfall and more "green" than where I grew up south of OKC. Anything within 100 miles north or east of Tulsa fits me just fine, but we ended up 30 miles SE of Tulsa and our place not far from the Arkansas River is a great fit for us also. I would suggest looking into the small communities just north of Skiatook. The land is not too expensive, it's convenient and pretty, and you don't have to worry about the local schools. I have a lot of relatives around there. Diane, my thoughts of Denton are of how hot, dry, and ugly it is for months each year, and of the traffic on I35 that I endured so much. Driving I-35 from Fort Worth to Norman 10 times each year made me have a strong dislike for Denton although the NE side of it is probably entirely different than what I saw from my car all the time. In my time in DFW we had one summer where we had no precipitation at my house in July, Aug, and Sept at all, and another where we had none between June 20 and the Labor Day weekend. One of those summers we had over 50 days of 100 degree temps as I recall although my memory is not what it once was. I just will not live with that and with that traffic and population density anymore.

How would you like to live in a place like southern California where it doesn't rain any significant rain for seven months straight each year. I would guess on the east coast you could easily not water for two or three weeks and still have your plants survive, even if it didn't rain during that time, which isn't likely.

for me, it would be a sentimental journey to las vegas to sprinkle mother's ashes in the desert where my dad is...we always say let's go...then something happens...

There are many "places" I would dearly love to go back to. We lived in Scotland for many years as well as some in Europe...and what I have learned is that to "go back" is just not the same. The people and customs and times have changed so much that "going back" is bittersweet. (Not to mention that I have changed) And... the memories of those times and friends are the sweet part. So, my two weeks (or more) now are mostly about seeing new things and making new acquaintances/friends.

I'd like another 'self catering' car trip in the counties outside London, plus time in Edinburgh for some genealogy. We'd like to see more of St. Petersburg than we could see with just two days in port there off a cruise. I'd like to revisit Switzerland and Lake Como -- this time including some genealogy along the Swiss/French border. . We've talked about flying to Australia and New Zealand from Hawaii someday -- despite a friend saying if you've seen Montana you don't need to see NZ. LOL (I think he was talking about *sheep*.)

I'd want more than two weeks for any trip requiring long flights.

Canada, would love to tour Canada........We are getting ready to do some traveling in the US and I am looking forward to doing it. I consider myself pretty well traveled but yet still have US destinations that I would like to see.

Italy. To again visit a beautiful country; take lots and lots of pictures; visit relatives who have never left the homeland; do genealogy research; and buy property.

Susanjf, my parents have the same wishes! My parents have already set up a fund for my sister and her husband and my husband and I to travel the world to spread their combined ashes in all the places they love to travel.

Well, I'm thinking I'd just like to have two weeks at home. It has been way too long since I had a day off and I didn't have plans to do something. But I guess if I was to go anywhere for two weeks, it would probably be Hawaii, island hopping.

I think I'd like to spend two weeks in San Francisco and Sonoma county. I have friends there that I haven't seen for a few years, plus I'd like to visit some of the antique and home decor shops.

If teleportation ever becomes a reality, I'd love to visit Australia and New Zealand. I don't care to fly for that many hours, though.

I would go the the area of Belize and rent one of the vacation homes that belong to Francis Ford Coppola's family. There is one on the coast and one at edge of the rainforest. Hopefully it would have electricity. Gotta have music and a movie every once in awhile.

My 1st choice would be Ireland but I'd need more than 2 weeks....2nd choice would be a deserted beach with clear blue water, with no phones.....
