A little note left on my desk one day from 17 yr old GD that simply said "Hi Vannie. I love you" Or a GC running and jumping in your arms when they see you. I've got 2 still young enough to do that and it thrills my heart. A BFF calling to see how the Dr's appt. went. DH and the children just "being there." My sweet older friends at church.

Funny you mention that. When I awoke this morning to frosty windows and I was toasty warm in bed with my kitty, Tikki, curled up with me, the song "I am the happiest girl in whole USA" started going through my head. I thought about how lucky I am to own my own home, live in Iowa, have an interesting job, plus my friends and family. Seeing my dog, Jake, sound asleep in the middle of the living room floor always makes me smile. Looks like he was walking and just ran out of gas and flopped down.

That wonderful feeling when my kids hug me and knowing how much we love each other.

A cold rainy day in Phoenix is a real pick-me-up.

Watching T.V. or movies with my girls.

Sitting in bed on Sunday morning with DH and drinking coffee knowing we don't have to get up and go anywhere for a couple hours.

My family....

especially my DH on a non grumpy day..

My home, even when it is messy.

A dogless day....(can't remember one) but I know I'd like it...Well...little Maggie can stay.

Not having any bills except insurance, phone and lights and having my taxes paid.

Having the laundry all caught up...if only for a moment.

Thinking of my masters, Jordan & Aaron and smile
and how Taylor ran and jumped into my arms for the first time last Saturday.
Then, she wouldn't let me put her down.

Lazy summer days spent in the porch swing reading a good book.

Being together with all my cousins, no matter how long we are apart, it's like I saw them yesterday.

Being on a canoe on a lake that has almost no other people around.

My sweet boyfriend (when he is in a good mood). :)

Very often in the morning I am so thankful I can get in a shower and be clean. I think about people in refugee camps and our troups all sandy and dirty and how uncomfortable that is.

My mini Dachshund curled up next to me. Her happy dance when I come home from running errands. Just watching all the funny things she does which makes me laugh.

Early morning coffee with 1/2&1/2, snuggling on the sofa with my dog under a blanket. It so peaceful and quiet before everyone is up. Watching the sunrise over the field behind the house. I love the early morning light.

Working up in my garden, even doing weeding is fun on a beautiful sunny day. Watching my dog chase the lizards, but never catching any. So funny! Having veggies from that garden all year long. Enjoying my roses well into December and picking a bouquet to bring into the house.

The crisp cool feel and smell of Fall in the air. I love wearing light jackets and sweaters. A fire in the fireplace weekend mornings. Drinking hot cocoa or chai on a Fall & Winter day. Doing lots of holiday baking.

Getting all the work that has to be done so I can have play time to work on all my craft hobbies. Trying out a new craft for the first time.

Those are just a few of my favorite things.

The anticipation of waiting for the first guest to arrive at your party - the house is clean, the food is out, just need the guests. I get so excited, even as an adult, I feel like a bubble inside me might burst.
Wow, there are tons of things that are my favorite. Thinking of them will keep me going all day :)

Those special "hugging times" with Roxie, my black and tan dachshund. Most of the time she sits in my lap, but occasionally I pick up as much of her as I can and hold her really, really close and just smell of her and hold her. She sits just as still and smells of my eye makeup! LOL

Holding hands with Twinkie at the mall or a ballgame. We'll soon be married 20 years and I'm still proud to be seen with him.

Hearing my mom's voice on the telephone and realizing how lucky I am to still have her.

Finding notes that my seven year old DGD leaves for me. I love her spelling at this age.

Rusty, weathered and nostalgic stuff can always make my heart race! LOL
