Shocking...Steve Jobs passed away today. He was not all that much older than me.

Sorry...I did not see the prior post by debby_2006. It is sad to lose anyone at that young age.

I was stunned to read the news. I knew he had to be very ill to step down from Apple. He accomplished so much in his relatively short life.

Talking about visionaries. Steve wozniak, who was one of the co-founders of Apple decided to build a house in the hills of Silicon Valley. It was down the lane from a friend of mine, so I had the opportunity to see it being built. It was whimsical and it was built like a small castle, including a moat, turret, etc... It was totally opposite from the usual houses built in that conservative community, so it was a lot of "cluck, cluck" going on. Sometimes it's not easy to accept a visionary.

Even though I started with and still use Microsoft, Steve Jobs was an Icon in the computer world, he probably kept Microsoft on it's toes just by being who he and Apple were.

I know the landscaper who designed and installed Steve Job's Woodside, CA garden back in the mid-late '90s, and although I can't verify Steve Job's exact literal "favorite" rose, I do know that my friend Chip said he planted a large # of the beautiful Graham Thomas roses on his property. My friend (and former landscaping boss) Chip now lives in Scotland; but we still keep in touch, so I'll try to remember to ask him your question the next time I e-mail him. Steve Irwin RIP

What happened to Steve Irwin was a very, very freak accident. I heard one report that said there have been only 3 deaths by stingray in the last 100 years. It sounds like the ray just flipped his tail up and, against all odds, hit Irwin in the chest driving his stinger into his heart. I am vey saddened by this. Yes, Irwin did make a big mistake taking his children in the croc pens, but he did so much good for wildlife. This report I heard pointed out that he purchased lots of land to protect the wildlife of Australia. And, of course, he did a lot to popularize otherwise unpopular critters, such as crocs and snakes and other reptiles. He worked hard to protect wildlife, both in front of the camera and out of the camera's eyes. He was definately goofy and silly, but the conservation world has lost a wonderful man. Sally

For a while now, he's looked so fragile even tho he was still so well spoken and seemed so strong otherwise.

He was the Edison of our generation. I can't think of a person who influenced more lives. Think what might have been if he lived. Just like John Lennon.

All the money in the world means nothing when one does not have his/her good health. This is so sad... He was so talented.

My daughter works in Apple management and he was highly respected and enjoyed by all his coworkers, that says a lot. He certainly changed our lives for the better.

He fought the good fight. He seemed like a very pleasant, self-assured person. RIP.
